carburetor with the original look• All the internal parts interchange with our parts• Regain lost performance• Direct bolt on for the applications listed,

no adapters etc. needed

Not sure of the location of your carburetor number? Just type #Carburetor Number Location on our website for a list of help-ful carburetor diagrams for various manu-factures. No core carburetors are needed when you purchase our new replacement carburetors. They are not universal “fit all” carburetors that may look different than the original carburetor. These are designed to fit the specific applications listed, yet are competitively priced to the universal “fit all” carburetors. We recommend adding an extra filter (ABC1315 or ABC490) or a fuel tank liner kit (MIS129) to help prevent foreign material from blocking the carburetor passages of the new carburetor.

The following photo was submitted to our annual catalog photo contest by April Brown from Massachusetts. She writes, “This tractor is owned by Steve LeClaire of Sutton MA, and although running when purchased was fully restored by Jeff Perry of Sutton MA. Paint is by Mark Carlson, also of Sutton. The tractor is used around LeClaire’s hobby farm all year.

According to LeClaire, “I had a 1937 Farmall F20, fully restored, but it was just too dangerous for me to really do anything safely with it. So, I found

a guy in Kentucky willing to trade his “M” in an even swap for my F20. We drove out there and made the swap. I think I got the better end of the deal. “

Although we are outside of a major city in Massachusetts, the town of Sutton (population of roughly 9,500) is rural enough that it is not uncom-mon to see a tractor driving down a country road after a day or evening of haying the many fields. This photo was taken at Shaw Farm, which dates to the 1800s, although a non-working farm at present. On the

day in question, my friend Jonathan Rocheieau and I decided to utilize the gorgeous property to showcase Steve’s “M”, and let her roam parts of the 135 acres. The bittersweet part of this story is that we may be losing a portion of the Shaw property soon to a new library. The look and feel of the farm will never be the same, so I am happy we captured this photo and others as a reminder of earlier times.” Our complete album can be viewed at www.SteinerTractor.com/tractor-photo-winners

Vintage powerPractice these 12 tips compiled by our technical service team to reach maximum engine performance for the harvest season.

9

1. Do a general inspection of the tractor and make note of anything that looks worn that may not make it through the fall season.

2. Order a shop or operator’s manual. They come in handy for sizes, capacities, etc.. We have a large selection in stock and we can special order many others.

3. Check all fluid levels and top off or change as needed. Now is also the time to grease the steering joints and tie rods.

4. Clean the crankcase breather cap and verify that it is not plugged.

5. Now is the time to clean the radiator fins out to prevent overheating. Be sure to check the coolant level and fill if need-ed (allow room for expansion).

6. Verify that the belts and hoses are not soft or cracked.

7. Check the tires for proper air pressure, cuts, and bulges.

8. Check your drawbar or lift hitch for excessive wear or broken links and replace as needed.

9. Now is the time to update your lights to LED technology. We have an expanding line of LED lights to fit the most popular applications for tractors through 2007.

10. Check that the fuel system is clean. Put a can under the carburetor and remove the plug from the bottom and verify that you have good fuel flow for at least 30 seconds. If it slows down or stops then you need to check the fuel tank, lines, and sediment bowl. It is no fun to limp your tractor back to the barn from a plowing day because the fuel system has a blockage.

11. Clean the air filter. If it has an oil bath filter, drain the oil out of the bowl, clean the bowl, and add clean oil into the bowl.

12. Check the electrical wiring for cracks or broken terminals. If you have not performed a tune up on the ignition now would be the time, points, plugs, etc. do wear out and could cause a misfire.

Enjoy the fall weather with your tractor, family, and friends. This is the season when lifetime memories are created. Have fun & be safe!

As the tractor shows wind down harvest and fall plowing starts. If this is the first time you are using your tractor for harvesting and plowing be aware that these jobs require your tractor to run at maximum engine speed and performance. Here are helpful tips to get your tractor ready:

“Renew the performance of your engine with our new line of after-market turbo chargers.” Our turbo chargers have all new components assembled in a state of the art factory that specializes in manufacturing turbo chargers. Each of our turbo chargers is a direct replace-ment for the applications listed on our product detail pages, making it easy to match up the correct one for your tractor. Each turbo charger includes mounting gaskets and an instruction sheet. No core charge required. To shop go to #Turbo

My Case 300 series 311 was pur-chased by my Grandfather in 1957. It was used on his farm for every-thing from tobacco, corn, hay, and logging to everything in between. It was a real work horse. I actually learned to drive on this tractor and when my Grandfather passed away it was given to my Dad. My Dad continued to use it, but it was getting to look a little old. I asked Dad if he would let me have the tractor to restore. He agreed and I had it restored a few years ago.

My Dad was amazed and said it looked just like he remembered when my Grandfather brought it to the farm. My plans are to keep this tractor and one day pass it on to my son so it can continue to be enjoyed.

Bust the rust:A father and son restoration

Daniel Johnson from Kentucky submitted pictures of his res-toration journey on our blog. He writes, “My Dad purchased this 1957 861 Powermaster tractor in 2013. We decided to turn it into a father-son restoration project. Fortunately, the original tractor was in good shape body wise; our goal was to bring the old tractor back to its glorious state. We completely took apart the tractor piece by piece to restore it.After several months of late hours, the project was complet-ed. We took pictures throughout the process to see before and after pictures. The end result was a true project to be proud of. The tractor is used regularly now on both of our properties and is something that can be handed down from generation to generation.” More restoration stories can be read at www.AntiqueTractorBlog.com

A ride across Nebraska Bret Weikert was heading out on the Tractor Relay Across Nebraska but before he left he needed a new water pump for his Farmall M. Bret spoke with our technical service rep., Dennis and he sold Bret on our newly designed IHS189. After completing the 9 day, 500 mile drive Bret emailed us with his story and pictures.

Just a recap I purchased one of your newly redesigned water pumps for a Farmall M. It has worked flawlessly with no leaks or issues. It was very easy to install even with the radiator still in place. It took my Dad and I

around 45 minutes. No complaints here and I may have even sold a few other guys on our tractor drive on purchasing them from you too!

The ride I took was the Tractor Relay Across Nebraska. It was 9 days and somewhere between 400 to 500 miles long. Steiner was a spon-sor for part of the ride and I thank you for that sponsorship. We also raised money for Operation Comfort Warriors along our trip and that is something that we have been doing for 4 or 5 years now.

The harvest moon

The harvest moon is the full moon nearest the start of fall or the autumnal equinox. This usually means it’s the September full moon

though it can also fall in early October, coming anywhere from two weeks before to two weeks after the equinox. The abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening was a traditional aide to harvest crews, hence the “harvest” moon.http://www.almanac.com/content/what-harvest-moon

A pumpkin for you

In 2015 the U.S. pump-kin harvest totaled 754 million pounds valued at $90 million, the smallest crop since the U.S. Department of

Agriculture began tracking the sector in 2000! That is still a whole lot of pumpkin. http://fortune.com/2016/09/25/2016-pumpkin-crop/

The following photo was submitted to our annual catalog photo contest by Kim Horneman from Maryland. She writes, “My 720 is a 1957 or 1958. It’s pony start, has a 3-point hitch, and dual hydraulics. I bought it just out of high school and was literally in boxes, but somehow it became a tractor again! My husband’s JD 40 is about a 1955 and is our latest addition to the family. We just got the chrome pipe from you all two days prior to this picture when we were having our family plow day at my parent’s farm, Daily Crisis Farm. He was a Farmall man but I think he realizes now that it’s ok to like both.” Our complete album can be viewed atwww.SteinerTractor.com/tractor-photo-winners

Larry Bromagem of Union City, Indiana seated on a 1937 John Deere B. Larry’s Dad purchased this tractor in April of 1937, 9 months before Larry was born.

Larry writes, “It was Dad’s first new tractor and it replaced the F20 Farmall that he used in 1936, the first year that he and Mother lived here on the home farm. The tractor was on steel wheels and the hand-lift two-row cultivators are visible in the picture as well as the lugs of the steel wheels. When the picture was taken I was 17 months old, having been born in January 1938.

Dad had a local mechanic and weld-er cut off the steel lugs and their mountings and weld on rims and mount tires in 1946, shortly after World War ll ended and tires were again available. Those tires were Firestones and lasted until the year 2000.

We don’t farm away from home so the lugs were not worn very much even then, but the sidewalls were breaking down. I remember that Dad had me drive the tractor home with the brand new mounted rubber tires. I was 8 years of age and it was a thrill to drive on the

blacktop road wide open throttle at a blistering 6.8 mph!

I currently use the tractor often, for raking hay and pulling loaded and empty wagons to and from the hay field. It is a flywheel start tractor and always starts.”

80 years and counting

The photo above was taken November 11, 2016 by Larry’s special friend Mary Kay DeHaven. The first one was taken in front of the granary; the second in front of the barn just about 60 feet north.

Pictured in the photo starting with the front tractor, my son Shaun Keenan on his 1946 John Deere A, then my oldest son Dan Keenan on his 1936 John Deere B, and I am on my 1955 Allis

Missing: A family’s vintage Massey Harris 30

Vaughn Werning from Iowa wrote into us this summer.

“This was my father’s Massey Harris 30, just after he had gotten it painted. I think this photo is from around 1980. Mechanical-ly it didn’t need anything done but the original paint was pretty much gone. After dad passed in 2007, my mother ended up selling it and the last I knew it was at a small airport in Wisconsin being used to tow small planes around. I regret not buy-ing it from her and would love to find it and bring it home to Iowa.”

The above photo was submitted by Judy Kitson from Arizona. She writes,

“The tractor is a 1951 UB Minneapolis Moline Industrial version as can be seen by the dual tires and shifter for forward and reverse. It was made on a US Government contract and still has the government plates. It was used by the Bureau in building the Glen Canyon Dam that created Lake Powell. After the dam was built it was purchased by the city of Page, Arizona and used on their golf course. When they finally parked it,

A sound machine

The following photo was submit-ted to our annual catalog photo contest by Bill Luecke from Kansas. He writes, “I purchased this Oliver 2150 from Richard Kreger in Jetmore, Kansas on March 1st, 2012. It was very sound mechanically, but very bad cosmetically. I removed the cab and restored it, repaired the doors, installed all new glass, and replaced all the padding. I even got the AC working. I then sandblasted every-thing, primed with epoxy primer and painted with PPG Essential poly-urethane. I put everything back to original as far as possible and luckily I didn’t need many parts. I finally finished the restoration in April 2014. This tractor is only one of 14 made in this configuration - Wheatland with planetary rear axle, Hercules 478 cubic inch engine, over/under hydraul-shift, serial number 209290-657, and 130 HP.” Our complete album can be viewed at www.SteinerTractor.com/tractor-photo-winners

the tractor was picked up by Eugene Tucker at city auction. He has since used it in the Page, Arizona annual tractor pulls in October. He and the tractor can be seen pulling on our website PageTractorClub.com in our cover photo. Eugene is also one of the founders and the president of the Page Antique Tractor and Machinery Club - EDGE&TA br. 217.” Our complete album can be viewed at www.SteinerTractor.com/tractor-photo-winners
