What do they want from me?

They may want to talk to you, take you away, hurt you, or do something harmful, uncomfortable, or dangerous to you.

They may want you to come inside their house or car. They might use lies or deception to get you to come with them. They know exactly what to say to get your attention.

Don’t do it!

Trust your instincts and you’ll keep safe!

Be Smart…Be Safe…Make a Good Choice!-Never accept gifts, candy, money, rides, or invitations to

see pets or something cool.-Never talk to strangers or answer any questions they

might ask, even if they know your name!-Never accept rides from strangers even if you’re late,

missed your ride, or the weather is bad.

-Talk to mom, dad, or your guardian to make up a “secret code”-a word or phrase that a person sent to get you in an emergency would have to know in order for you to go with them.

-Back away from the curb line if someone stops a car, truck, or van to talk to you or ask questions of you. If the person keeps driving slowly next to you, turn quickly and walk or run the other way. SCREAM for help! Go straight to your nearest safe place: home, police dept., grandma’s, best friends. Tell an adult what happened.

-When reporting to an adult, try to remember…the person, the vehicle, and any license plates or addresses.

-Always use the buddy system! Never go places alone.

Four Steps to Saying No!1. Knowing when something is right or wrong. Use your conscience (instincts.)

2. Saying No! to offers to use drugs or alcohol, and if someone tries to touch you, or grab you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable.3. Go! Get away from that person as fast as you can, any way that you can.

4. Tell! Tell a trusted adult about the person, car, or anything else.

It’s so easy and it can be used for many different situations!
