  • About the AuthorsAntoon Tony W. Rufi currently is the associate dean of computer and information science for allthe ECPI College of Technology campuses. He also teaches the Cisco Networking Academy CCNA,CCNP, Network Security, Fundamentals of Wireless LAN, and IP Telephony curricula. Before becom-ing an instructor for ECPI, he spent almost 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, working on numerous elec-tronic projects and computer programs. Tony has a masters degree in information science from theUniversity of Maryland and a bachelors degree in industrial technology from Southern IllinoisUniversity.

    Priscilla Oppenheimer is an author and network consultant with more than 25 years of experience inthe computer industry. Priscilla has a masters degree in information science from the University ofMichigan and has worked at such big-name companies as Apple Computer and Cisco Systems. Shecurrently teaches at Southern Oregon University and provides network consulting to companies in herhometown of Ashland, Oregon, and elsewhere.

    Belle Woodward, CCNA, CCAI, CCNP, is an assistant professor in the School of InformationSystems and Applied Technologies in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern IllinoisUniversity (SIU) in Carbondale, Illinois. She has more than nine years experience in the networkingand network security field. Belle teaches network security, advanced networking, and telecommunica-tions. After redesigning the networking and network security undergraduate curriculum, her studentstook first place at the 2006 Regional Midwestern Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) andfourth place at the national CCDC. In addition to publishing several journal articles in the networksecurity discipline, Belle has also contributed several chapters included in published network securityand networking books.

    Gerlinde Brady has been teaching Cisco CCNA and CCNP courses at Cabrillo College, a CiscoRegional Networking Academy, since 1999. She holds a masters degree in education from theUniversity of Hannover, Germany, and a masters degree in translation (English/German) from theMonterey Institute of International Studies. Her IT industry experience includes LAN design, networkadministration, technical support, and training.

  • About the Technical ReviewersCindy G. Layman has been an instructor at Itawamba Community College in Tupelo, Mississippi, formore than 10 years. She has been teaching programming, computer servicing, and networking cours-es, including the full CCNA curriculum in the Cisco Networking Academy. Cindy has a bachelor ofscience degree in mathematics and a bachelor of science degree in computer science, both fromMississippi State University. Before teaching at ICC, she was a programmer analyst for nine years.

    Michael Duane Taylor is department head of computer information sciences at the Raleigh Campusof ECPI College of Technology. He has more than seven years of experience teaching introductorynetworking and CCNA-level curriculum and was awarded the Instructor of the Year Award.Previously, Michael was a lab supervisor with Global Knowledge working with router hardware con-figuration and repair. He holds a bachelors degree in business administration from the University ofNorth Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master of science degree in industrial technology/computer net-work management from East Carolina University. His certifications include CCNA, CCNP-router, andMCSE.
