Welcome from the Commandant and the Chief Warrant Officer of Canadian Forces Support Unit (Ottawa)Canadian Forces Support Unit (Ottawa) (CFSU(O)), would like to welcome you and your family to the National Capital Region! As you may have realized, the National Capital Region (NCR) is unique. CFSU(O) is one of the largest military establishments in Canada, and is very much like the base for Ottawa offering many of the services you would find on other bases or wings. Yet unlike any other base or wing in Canada, Canadian Forces members who are posted here live and work in communities straddling two provinces. We have the added dimension of being home to many Level 1 organizations, which means we are often called upon to support not only regional but also national-level events. CFSU(O) supports more than 18,000 military members, civilian employees of the Department of National Defence and staff of the Non-Public Funds of the Canadian Forces, located in 70 buildings in the NCR (65 in Ontario and five in Qubec). We are very excited about some upcoming projects we are working on, all of which will continue to focus on offering our clients and their families the best service we can. The NCR is a vibrant, culturally rich area, with many festivals, sporting events and family-friendly activities taking place throughout the year. Whether this is your first posting to the area or you have been here before, we hope this book will be helpful in getting you and your family settled and letting you know what services and amenities are available to you in your new community. The purpose of this book is to highlight many of the support services you and your family will find in the NCR. It includes an overview of many of the major buildings, military organizations and units, as well as morale and welfare programmes in the region. We hope that this book will prove very useful. More information and updates can be found on our website at Welcome to the NCR!Capt(N)/Capv Mark B. Watson CWO/Adjuc JMC Belcourt Commandant CFSU(O) CWO/Adjuc USFC(O) CFSU(O)/USFC(O)
