This study involved 20 such patients (median age 73 years) who had relapsed in first complete response following previous chemotherapy. The regimen consisted of 6 courses of IV vinorelbine 25 mg/m 2 , IV epirubicin 40 mg/m 2 and prednisone 40 mg/m 2 , all given on days 1 and 8, repeated every 28 days. SC granulocyte colony-stimulating factor 5 µg/kg/day was given on days 2–5 and 9–12. Overall, 65% had a major response (complete and partial responses), with a 30% complete response rate. In the subgroup of patients with diffuse large B cell lymphoma (n = 15), 67% had a major response (33.5% complete and 33.5% partial). Four patients remain in complete remission after 10, 12, 15 and 16 months, respectively. Two patients who had achieved complete remission relapsed after 6 and 8 months. The regimen was well tolerated. Grade 3–4 neutropenia occurred in 4 of 109 cycles and grade 3–4 thrombocytopenia in 2 of 109 cycles. Zinzani PL, et al.
