SECOND TERM.

WRITIN&

SPEAKING

PROJECTSECOND

E.S.O.A&B

To be handed

before the l7th of

March/2015

Welcome I am sure you already know

who I am, as (if I may say so)

I am very famous!

I am Zeus, King of the Greek

Gods.

You have been

specially selected by the great heroes of myths and

legends from all over the

world to take part in a number of courageous

and challenging

tasks…

… but never fear, you will not be

expected to battle through these labours

alone!, you will

compete against each other to win each of the five gruelling tasks. The winning teams will be rewarded with

golden points.

The great champions of past myths and legends are watching over you and are getting ready to

celebrate the great

champions of

the future!

Planning your Myth

OR LEGENDWhat do you need to do to

create a legendary

myth?1. Opening

1. Title

2. Characters

2. Complication

1. Your quest

3. Crisis

1. Tension

4. Resolution

1. How does the myth end?

When a myth comes into

existence it is believed in a people’s heart and soul. Because of this, myths are more than just stories; every myth has a glimmer or truth.

All mythologies start by telling

of the creation of the world and mankind.

The Greeks, the Vikings, the Egyptians, the Chinese, the Japanese, all the peoples of Africa, and all the 500 nations of the Native Americans each had their own version or versions of the creation.

Our Questions:

How did the world begin?

How were people created, and

why?

While creator gods may

choose to leave the world once their work is done, other gods and goddesses constantly meddled in the lives of men and women.

Some gods even fell in love with mortals (humans), and from their relationships came many of the heroes of mythology, who have incredible strength, intelligence or sneakiness!

What are legends?

A legend is a semi-true

story, which has been

passed on from person-to-

person and has important

meaning or symbolism for

the culture in which it

originates. A legend

usually includes an element

of truth, or is based on

historic facts, but with

'mythical qualities'.

Legends usually involve

heroic characters or

fantastic places and often

encompass the spiritual

beliefs of the culture in

which they originate.

A modern myth. A frightening untrue story in which the storyteller insists is true, but has no evidence to back up. Also, it never happened to the storyteller but someone removed from them.

PLANNING YOUR OWN MYTH OR LEGEND

• In your project you need to complete the following:

1. Come up with a story line including opening, complication, crisis & resolution.

2. Create a PowerPoint narrating the story.

3. Create a script for the actors for each section for your performance at the end of the day.

You have until fifteenth of March to organise this.

So, what are the five labours you will bravely face?

• A test of observation: you will watch a true hero’s quest and complete a task that will test your knowledge.

• A test of wits: you will use weapons of words to construct a hero’s tale.

• A test of creativity: you will use your skills to create monsters, heroes and Gods.

• A test of bravery: you will need courage to make the weapons required by heroes.

• A test of teamwork: you will need to show a united front to pull together all of your tasks in a spectacular finale!
