Logistics sector plays a vital role not only in the nation but also in the region. We are operating and laying down the programme to be more develop logistics sector in ASEAN, GMS and BIMSTEC.

Logistics sector is one of the 12 priority sectors of ASEAN Connectivity in order to establish the ASEAN Community in 2015 and the limitations will be liberalised completely in 2013.

We are drawing the Roadmap of Logistics to improve the logistics sector in the region. This Roadmap includes infrastructure, information, communication, services and human resources development which is five important sector to implement.

The line from Kyaukpyu (Yangoon) - Mandalay- Lashio-Ruili- Kunming is the main corridor of China-Myanmar Railway Corridor.

Primary Planning Scheme of the Proposed RouteIt starts from Ruili of China Yunnan, goes through Muse and 105 Yard Trade Zone, reaches Lashio, where a new Lashio north station will be built.

Then it goes to Mandalay along with the existing corridor, and goes down south along with Myanmar railroad lines to PyawBwe.

After that, it goes along with the railroad under construction to Minbu, and goes through Ann to Kyaukpyu sea port. The overall length from Muse to Kyaukpyu port is about 813.01km.

Inland Water Transport System

As the State owned enterprise for transportation, the main function

of the IWT is to provide river transport services in Myanmar,

utilizing its facilities to optimize transport performance whilst

meeting public requirements. The principal functions of the IWT

are:

To carry out the transportation of passengers and Cargo along the

navigable waterways of Ayeyarwady, Chindwin and also in the

Delta areas, Rakhine, Mon and Kayin States.

To operate ferry services for the convenience of passengers and

vehicles.
