QUEENSLAND RIDE!!!

On the 15th of December 2009 me my mum my dad and my sister went to Sea World. My dad and I went on all the big rides and then my mum and my sister went on all of the little kids rides. Some of the rides I went on with my mum. The rides were better at other places though. Before we left I grabbed our tickets to go to Sea World and my sister was really exited. We got in the car and drove to Sea World. It took us 45 minutes to get there. Mum and Dad wanted to get a coffee on the way so we had to stop. When we got there we my sister and I quickly grabbed our tickets and ran to the front check in. It was over 35 degrees so it was hard to get around. When we had all got though the security we went and got some lunch. I had a salad roll, so did mum and dad. Jamieson my sister got a bucket of chips. After we finished we started to go on all of the rides. The first one that I went on was with my whole family. The water slide drop. This ride went really slow and then all of a sudden you drop really fast my mum screamed so loud I thought I was going deaf. It was the best ride that I went on that day. I went on it about 15 times that's because it was really fun. I think I'll do it again. The ride was really good but the first time that I went on it I felt really sick. It feels like your stomach was dropping. I hope to go on it a lot more next time. Maybe go to 20 times next time.

On August 24 79AD two volcanos in Italy erupted and destroyed two cities which were the Bay of

Naples and Pompeii. My name is Steph and I’m 12 and I experienced the eruption with my family.

So many families lived but 4,000 other people died. There are 20,000 residents in my country and

a 5th of them died from either being killed by volcanic ash, getting trapped under the boiling hot

lava or building clasping on top of people from getting trapped in the buildings to.

Firstly all my friends and I were siting on the swings which were a piece of rope and a stick. My

friend was talking about school or something and we just got bored of what she was saying so I

threw the closest mud pile at her. There was awkward silence and then there was a couple of

rumbles and then a big dark cloud of ash came over the top of the volcano. The 3 of my friends

and I ran screaming home to ask our parents what that was. My mum said that the volcano on the

island might erupt, I was so scared even just to hear the rumbling and to see the ash cloud but to

hear with my own ears that a volcano MIGHT ERUPT or EXPLOED. One of the bad things are if you

breathe in volcanic ash it will get into your lungs and suffocate you. I really didn’t want any

volcanic ash in my lungs. No one wants to die just of volcanic ash.

Secondly all of a sudden the rumbling got so loud that a big gush of red lava came out. Everyone

was screaming and running away as fast as they could. Lava was going everywhere. I was so scared

that I thought I wet myself (I’m sure some people already have) When volcanos erupt they firstly

splirt our lava and then it comes out onto to volcano. When lava gets cold eventually it turns to

rock on the volcano and the volcano get bigger from the rock.

Thirdly a couple of months later all of us people who lived though the explosion came back to the

country to see what had been destroyed and what hadn’t. When we got there I found out that 2

whole cities were under molten lava and rocks. Pompeii and Herculaneum were the two cities that

weren’t there anymore. My whole family were crying there eyes out because our home and

country had been destroyed. I was horrified and so were my friends and family.

Lastly it’s been 3 years after the explosion and my family and I have moved to another part of

Europe and made our life there. My 3 friend’s and family’s came with us. We had a better life

there then we had in Pompeii. I thought that the explosion was horrible and I feel sorry for the

families that had to loose other family member because of the eruption.

It was 3:23pm and it was time to go on one of the scariest rides in the park of Dream World Australia. It was just me and my dad. We were sitting in the bright red seats of the car waiting for what was going to happen. About 5 seconds later the car went so fast up the big tower it just stayed at the top and then all of a sudden it came down so fast that I was screaming and couldn't catch my breath because we were going backwards so fast. I thought I was going to die. But I didn't!!!

Thunder/Lightning Storm!

Have you ever seen huge, black puffy clouds developing on a hot humid afternoon? They are called cumulonimbus clouds, sometimes shortened to "thunderheads." They can actually develop at any time of day when the temperature falls really fast higher up in the sky. Lightning bolts are extremely hot, with temperatures of 30,000 to 50,000 degrees F. That's much hotter than the surface of the sun! When the Lightning bolt suddenly heats the air around it to such an extreme, the air instantly expands, sending a vibration or shock wave we hear as an explosion of sound which is called thunder. Kinds of Lightning There are words to describe different kinds of lightning. Here are some of them: In-Cloud Lightning: The most common type, it travels between positive and negative charge centres within the thunderstorm. Cloud-to-Ground Lightning: This is lightning that reaches from a thunderstorm cloud to the ground. Cloud-to-Cloud Lightning: A rare event, it is lightning that travels from one cloud to another. Sheet Lightning: This is lightning within a cloud that lights up the cloud like a sheet of light. Ribbon Lightning: This is when a cloud-to-ground flash is blown sideways by the wind, making it appear as two identical bolts side by side. Bead Lightning: Also called "chain lightning," this is when the lightning bolt appears to be broken into fragments because of varying brightness or because parts of the bolt are covered by clouds. Ball Lightning: Rarely seen, this is lightning in the form of a grapefruit-sized ball, which lasts only a few seconds. Bolt from the blue: A lightning bolt from a distant thunderstorm, seeming to come out of the clear blue sky, but really from the top or edge of a thunderstorm a few miles away. Lightning bolts are very dangerous so kept away when ever you hear or see thunder pr lightning.
