My evaluation of my recreation of Britney spears- “Hit me baby one more time”

Planning that went into creating the music video. As a starting point I analysed the official video of “Hit me baby one more

time” I created a table showing all the contributing factors shot by shot. I looked at the shot types that were used in each shot and how effective it was when contributing to the characterisation of the video. I also looked at transitions and how they kept in with the dramatics of the song in Britney they were often slick and sharp as the song is upbeat and has a fun influence. I also looked at the shot duration ,lighting and audio I also monitored Britney's body language and facial expressions so I could recreate my shots as accurately as possible.

When looking at the planning aspect of recreating the video we had to organise team meetings and peoples time was sparse and so we had to come up with a time plan where everybody was available for example the dancers actors camera crew and equipment, the setting we had chosen was a school corridor and we had to co-ordinate our filming when the corridor was not so busy else we wouldn’t of been able to create the shots we needed.

“I took a leadership role within the group as I choreographed the dance piece I found this a good opportunity to change my dance style and I enjoyed teaching the dancers and drama students as I found it inspirational to work with a production.”

New media technologies that I used in the creation of my music video.

I decided to use premiere pro cs6 to edit my footage most of the time I spent on there was playing about with the software to determine how it operates. When looking at aspects such as lighting effects I watched step by step YouTube videos and followed them closely I found this extremely helpful as with this guidance if you had the idea you could put it into practice. Razor and unlinking the sound from a clip I managed to work out through my own initiative and spending time on the program. We worked well as a team as when a individual found out how to apply an effect to their clip they shared it with the group from this we learned at a quicker rate. At one point in the editing process my media unlinked I found this quite problematic as I couldn’t seam to relink the media by simply exploring the software, however I over came this obstacle by watching numerous YouTube videos on how to relink my media I found this very time consuming however helpful and felt it improved my self learning techniques.

My difficulties and successes that I encountered.Aspects when creating my Britney video that I found challenging :

.Students from the school would often walk into our shot resulting in us having to re-shoot the scene meaning we lost out on valuable time.

.Another point that became a nuisance was getting all of the team together at the same time as availability was a issue, we managed to resolve this by creating a well thought out schedule where people could write down their free times.

An other difficulty that got in the way was lack of preparation as time was against us ,we didn’t give the drama students enough time to learn the words ,so lip syncing is not at a high quality. However what I have learned from this is that planning is essential when creating a production and you need to allocate as much time as possible.

What I found went well was the flexibility of the individuals involved although free time to spend on the video was a issue ,but they all were committed to getting the project finished ,with out this enthusiasm I think that it would of become a up hill struggle to get the task completed.

Another part that I believed to go well was the editing process, although it was the most stressful and time consuming part of the recreation we all worked effectively as a team and so this made the task of editing the footage we had collected much more straight forward.

I have learnt from this that sometimes working as a team encourages people to work alongside each other and people tend to bounce of each other with ideas, making process much more enjoyable. It also helped develop my communication skills as communication was the key to our success.
