The masthead (magazine title) is very clear and looks like a very dominant typography. The Billboard name is very clear and eye catching making it easy to read as the title is bold and contrasts with the bright pink background.

The tagline helps to make the magazine more unique and individual as it is specific to only this magazine. The font of id is smaller and it is in a more hidden away space as it isn’t one of the main features on the front cover of the magazine it is just something that helps to make it more recognisable.

There is a very basic colour scheme for this front cover even though the colours are very different. This is because they are just bold plain sections that are filled with the colours. All of the colours work well with each other on the front cover because they compliment each other and make each other stand out making the overall look of the magazine from attractive and eye catching.

The cover lines for the magazine are the stories and bits of information that are included within the magazine that aren't the most popular stories within the media at this exact time. The cover lines are kept within the main colour scheme of the front cover by mainly been in black by the key features like subheadings are in yellow.The use of having a celebrity on the cover of a magazine is to draw in

readers and attract a new audience along with the regular fan base. By using Katy Perry who is an international celebrity it grabs the readers attention as they are wanting to be nosey and learn information about her that they might not locate anywhere else. The image of Perry is large and clear taking up the majority of the cover which means that she clearly stands out and is the first thing that most of the audience will pick up on when scanning the shelves I shops for a magazine.

The main headlines are the largest articles within the magazine and are the most popular features within the media at the time.

The issue date and number are usually included in a small text near the masthead of the magazine so that they can be hidden away. The issue date informs the audience of date that this edition of the magazine was published. The edition number informs the audience of what number edition this is of the magazine.

By placing an independent and strong female on the front of this magazine cover it creates the connotation that she is very powerful and influential because it is almost as though she is being isolated and different from everyone else causing her to be placed within the photo herself. The makeup on Katy’s face looks very light and glowing. By the use of the enhancement of her features with pops of colour such as pink on the cheek and lip could insinuate that she is trying to look sexual by within this case she is looking very innocent and as if she is trying to look young by having a youthful glow to her skin. The makeup has links to the colour of the flowers which are almost like a form of protection like a shield for her. This links to the innocent feel as though even though she is a fully grown woman she still needs a level of protection to show people that she isn't indestructible because she is an international star she still has feelings and is a normal human.

The clothing she is wearing reduces any thoughts that she is trying to look sexual for this photo because she is hiding her upper body by crossing her arms up over her chest giving the impression that she is trying to hide away and look angelic. The use of the dark coloured dress can also insinuate that she is trying to hide as black is seen as a colour that can make you fade into the background and not be as noticeable almost as if it is like wearing camouflage, in her case she isn't able to fade into he background within this photo because her black dress stands out in front of the bright pink background.

Her posture within this photo is very soft backing up the thoughts previously mentioned about looking angelic and girlie. By having the curve within her back it creates a very feminine image as women are known to have curves making her look very soft and natural within her stance. The curve within her spine links lightly to he waves within her hair as her hair is styles with very soft waves.
