Electronic RockMise en Scene – this is a very important factor for indie rock genres as it helps to portray the narrative much better. Indie artists often have a retro look which can be created through their costumes and also their makeup. There could be additional actors in the music video who are the main characters in the narrative of the video, they would have to portray the part through their appearance and also the way they act. Costumes would give people different identities making it easier to understand the music video and it helps to set them apart from everyone else.

Cinematography Camera angles tend to work around trying to portray

emotion to develop the story of the song. This is done through extreme close ups to easily show the emotion of

specific characters.

Cinematography As well as extreme close up they also use wide

establishing shots of the whole band, this isn’t all the time as sometimes the music video follows a narrative route and

doesn’t show footage of the band at all.

Editing techniquesDue to the music videos usually taking the narrative was they use filters and other various techniques to make the music video look like a mini movie by its self. There are also effect that involve changing speed such as slow motion to emphasise on a certain part or flashing images that are really fast that will be used to create tension.

Mise En SceneProps – Props used such as make up and clothing are

primarily used to help develop the story such as creating a character. This can be done by showing someone's

emotions through what they wear. For example: Dark clothing = Depression etc.

Mise En SceneLighting – With this genre there is usually only extremes

such as really bright lights or really dark and gloomy, there isn't much in-between. Depending on what sort of story

they are going with depends on the lighting they use, if it is a good song with a positive out come then it will be light but if it is a dark song and is about bad times then they will use

dim lighting.

Mise En SceneSetting – The setting as well as many other properties of the music video really depends on the song, if you are

trying to produce a music video with a narrative it can be anywhere from a school to a space station, however if it is just a song and they include the band etc. it can be on a

stage or in an empty warehouse as seen below.
