DIRECTORY/MEMBER UPDATE

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------

Sophia Palmer had surgery on her right carotid artery April 6 to remove block-

age. The surgery was successful and she is home. Sophia wishes to thank everyone for their loving support and concern, cards, phone calls, and emails. A “very special thank you” to three angels - Edwina Rosenbusch, Jody Andes and Glenda Brookfield for their incredible support during her recovery. They were ever present and helpful during the first 48 hours and have continued to offer their help. She is very thankful to be a part of such a wonderful group - the Newcomers' Club.

Ken Petersen retired in April from the banking industry after forty plus years. He and Jeanie are celebrating this transition and looking forward to a new life adventure in retirement.

Joe Wessman, former active newcomer and RMSG member, passed away on April 22 when his heart gave out after being hospitalized for several days. Joe's son contacted Luana Chapman to share the sad news. Many newcomers will remember having good times with Joe. He planned a memorable trip to Yosemite National Park for RMSG several years ago, and he was active as leader of the hiking group, planning trips on many local trails. Condolences may be sent to Joe Jr.: Joe Wessman, Jr, 5219 S Magnolia Avenue, Spokane, WA 99223

Thanks to the Sugar House Distillery for a delightful Tasting

Skiers and Snowshoers End of Season Tailgate Party

April 7, 2016 See you all next Winter!

What a beautiful day and great turnout for our first blended ski/snowshoe tailgate!! The total was 30 and it was so good to see Nancy Ramsdell back up there!! Thanks to those who got there super early to secure good parking spaces and for Hank and Maryann for bring-ing the tables. The food was delicious with lots of variations to choose from. I will NEVER say again that I think we got the wine covered because people thought I implied not to bring any - WRONG! A good lesson for next time:-) Every year we should give recognition to someone who is the most popular on the slopes. The first inaugural winner is Eunice Duncan I can't tell you how many times I heard people say what a joy Eunice is to ski with - not too fast, not too slow - just right:-). You go girl!!! It's hard to believe the ski season is over. We very much missed Karen Thompson, Diane Schnarr & Julie Codell on the slopes and those who weren't able to ski much this year. Thank you Maddy and Sophia for the coordination of Skiing and Snowshoeing.
