MUNICIPALITY OF GASAN VISION Statement
GASAN . . .a God-centered, self-reliant and empowered
citizenry living harmoniously in anecologically-balanced community.
MUNICIPALITY OF GASAN MISSION Statement
Effective delivery ofbasic services byharnessing the natural, human and fiscalresources through acapable and people-oriented leadership
Poverty is the denial of opportunities andchoices to lead a long, healthy, creativelife, and to enjoy a decent standard ofliving, freedom, dignity, self-esteem andrespect of others.
Poverty is the chronic inability to meetbasic needs, shortness of income – lack ofaccess to health, education and othersocial services.
However, poverty is only half the picture, the other half shows resiliency of the poorin coping with their condition and theexternal shocks that come their way.
Poverty Poverty reduction remains to be one of
the biggest challenges faced by thenation.
To successfully fight poverty, it isimportant to know who are the poor, where they are, and why they are poor.
It is impossible to reduce poverty withouteconomic growth yet economic growthcannot happen without significantlyreducing the number of poor people.
Poverty
Causes of poverty are complex, and theremedies are equally so. Poverty reductionis not an overnight affair.
LGU play a significant role in the fightagainst poverty, either as implementor,co-implementor or facilitators.
Poverty reduction can only be achieve bya mixture of programs, policies andpolitical will.
