It’s that time of the year again. Deadlines stress you to the point of wanting to hurt someone (usually a spouse or a boss). Year-end functions take their toll on your waistline. Kids are writing exams, more reason to stress, more reason to eat. Routines go out the window. Gym time and exercise is sacrificed. You come home exhausted, inhale everything in sight. We tend to overindulge during the festive season and come the new year, we all need to lose weight. Here are a few tips to help you beat the bulge this year: 1. Keep hydrated. Dehydration is the number one cause of lack of concentration. Most people eat rather than drink in response to a thirst stimulus, which leads to consumption of unnecessary calories.2. Plan your day. If you know you are invited to a luncheon or dinner or are going to be going out with friends, then have something light for breakfast. A protein shake is ideal.3. Alcohol is wasted calories. If you are going to have alcohol, it’s best to dilute it. Have spritzers and shandies.4. Keep up your exercise routine. The easiest way to pick up weight is to eat more and exercise less than usual. Life is indeed a journey and we all want to enjoy the ride – but we all want to look good doing it!

The business was started by Lindi Redfern in 2009, after she realised that there was a need for supplementary learning support for children who battle with their schoolwork.
