Regarding the relationship between maximum charge current and the timer function ofPaqPower 750 and PaqPower 1500 chargers in Li-ion mode please read the followinginformation carefulIy.Li-ion battery packs employ Constant Current Constant Voltage system for charging.Normally this system starts oft any charge with a "bulk charge" where the charger submits itsmaximum current to the Li-ion battery packoThe Li-ion battery pack should ideally reachmaximum 4,2v per celi where after a period the Li-ion battery pack itself will regulate thecharge current absorbed until it finally reaches a preset level of charge current (typically 1/10of maximum charge current) and then the charge is terminated. A timer function for thetermination is calculated based on available charge current and the Li-ion battery packcapacity. Please see figure 1 that shows a normai CCCV Li-ion charge system:

Where as the CCCV charge system in figure 1 is the fastest charge system for Li-ion batterypacks it does have some disadvantages also.- The timer must be preset at a fixed time. This will dictate a maximum capacity of any givenLi-ion battery pack to be charged by this charger. If tOGhigh capacity Li-ion battery pack isconnected it will not reach fuli charge before the timer will terminate the charge.- Also there is the issue of safety. If a defective or very old Li-ion battery pack is connected tothis charger it will have to run the fuli charge allowed by the preset timer before chargingwillstop. Of course during this time it is possible that the battery pack can become very hot andperhaps even unsafe.

For the PaqPower 750 and PaqPower 1500 we have chosen to employ a more advancedversion of the CCCV charge system. When charging in Li-ion mode the PaqPower chargersdo not use a preset timer. In stead a sophisticated 33 step charge cycle is employed formaximum safety and convenience. The maximum charge current of the PaqPower 750 is 750mA where as the maximum chargecurr~nt of the PaqPower 1500 is 1500mA.

The PaqPower chargers in Li-ion mode will start the charge using maximum charge current. However differently tram the normai CCCV charge system the PaqPower chargers measurethe Li-ion battery pack voltage continuously and based on this intormationwill continuethrough all 33 steps ot charge betore charging is terminated. The time ot each step is also measured continuously by the PaqPower chargers. It any Li-ion battery pack tails the voltage measuring algorithm the charger will simply stopthe charge process right then and there - well betore the Li-ion battery pack will becomes hotand perhaps unsate.Actually what the charger does during "bulk charge" (charging with maximum charge current)is measure the battery pack voltage and compares this to the charge current.Example: Provided a 3,7v Li-ion battery pack is accepting charge at minimum 3,OvoltthePaqPower charger will start its charge with step no. 1. The PaqPower charger measures theincreasing voltage and at a preset voltage it will move to step no. 2. Meanwhile thePaqPower charger has measured the elapsed time spent in step no. 1 and immediatelycalculates and sets a timer for step no. 2 based on the elapsed time in step no. 1. Once thecharger moves to step no. 3 it will instead use step no. 2 to calculate the timer setting forstep no. 3. And so forth. When the Li-ion battery pack has reached the maximum chargevoltage the charger instead will measure the decreasing charge current against elapsed timeto calculate the timer setting for each step.In case a Li-ion battery pack only 20% dischargedis connectedto thePaqPowerchargeritwill simply skip a number of charge steps and complete the charge fully from then on.

~- .The advantages ot the PaqPower chargers more advanced versiorJlotthe CCCV chargesystem are: .- Increased satety all through the charge process - and not only use a preset timer tunction.- Because ot the advanced timer system each Li-ion battery pack is monitored very closelyregardless ot the battery pack voltage and capacity - same advanced charge system tor 1,2,3 and 4 celi Li-ion battery pack ot any capacity.- Any charger using the normai CCCV charge system has a limit to how high capacity batterypack it can charge tully - due to the advanced timer system the PaqPower can in tact chargeany capacity battery pack tully and sately.

Please exactly follow below instruction to change charge method.

1) Press "Discharge" button while charger is connected to AC"Mainsor DC withoutconnecting to battery.:~Keep pressing "Discharge" button untillight appears in a batlery type Led on thebackside.Release "Discharge" button.

2) Within 3 seconds you can switch battery type Led by pressing "Discharge" to jumpone step each time pushing - see above setting Leds.

3) When correct battery type Led is reached wait 3 seconds until Led starts flashing.

4) Fast push on "Discharge" button to accept chosen battery type.

5) Disconnect fram Mains and wait for Led to shut down.

6) Connect charger again to Mains without pushing "Discharge" to see if light now inchosen Led.

7) For other battery types than NiCd and NiMH place other label on frant to cover"Discharge" button and "Discharge" Led as discharge function only works forNiCd/MH battery packs.

8) Place correct label on the backside to cover setting Leds.

For output polarity "TIP" towards "TIP" the centre is +positive.Marked output wire is -negative.
