The Asian Tiger Mosquito thrives in drought which kills other mosquito breeds, has spread globally and prefers metropolitan existence with humans. Washington Post story.

It is a disease vector that can commute diseases and viruses between species (e.g. animals to humans).

Unlike many other breeds of mosquitoes, it is active during daytime, so insecticide spraying largely ineffective.

One Tiger Mosquito can bite up to ten times trying to complete its hunt for a blood meal.

One female mosquito can lay up to 500 eggs in its lifetime (3 weeks).
