TRANSCRIPT
Dear Parents/Carers,
It has nearly come to the end of the first full term of this academic year and my first full term as the
Head Teacher. I have thoroughly enjoyed leading our school into a new era, supporting staff to
provide the best learning experiences for your children and ensuring we all work together to have the
highest of expectations in everything we do.
Today we celebrated the good behaviour that has been noticed throughout the term. We have
celebrated the way your children have shown our school values of co-operation, honesty,
perseverance, responsibility, belonging and respect to abide by our school rules. The children had a
wonderful morning (and so did the staff) and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff for
going above and beyond to make the experience special. An extra special thank you to Mrs Shields for
organising the whole thing.
I would like to take this opportunity to say Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year and I look forward
to seeing you all on Wednesday 4th January 2017.

Additional INSET day on Friday 3rd February 2017
All the schools in the Primary First Trust are having an additional INSET day on Friday 3rd February. All
schools in the Trust will be closed to the children on this day. This day is in response to the government’s changes in Primary Assessment. We are notifying parents now in order to give you
reasonable notice of the long weekend for the children.
The school is also closed on Tuesday 3rd January for a staff INSET day. Children return to school on
Wednesday 4th January after the Christmas break.
Family Christmas Event - Monday 19th December
The school and parent group would like to invite you to come and hear the choir sing and have a mince pie and a mulled wine with us at 3.30pm in the front playground. We will be calling the raffle at
4pm and announcing the winners of the bear colouring competition.
There will be no charge for the event but we will have collection tins available to raise funds for the
school.
A special visitor in Year 6
Year 6 have had a special visitor this week who was a 'WW2 child evacuee'. We gained an insight of how it felt to be evacuated away from your friends and family during this war time period. The lady
was only eight-years-old when she was evacuated to Sussex with her 2 siblings, she then moved to Wales. She even went to 5 different schools! We learnt more about 'Barrage Balloons, V1 "Buzz"
bombs and V2 Rockets'. It was a great way to complete our topic, 'Tragedy and Triumph'.
Hayley House
Our choir sang for the residents at Hayley House last Friday. We received an email from them to let us know how much they enjoyed the performance.
Good afternoon,
I would whole heartedly like to thank the children, teachers and parents for coming to Hayley House to
sing for us last Friday. We all noticed the choir has improved so much. The children behaved excellently
and mingled with the residents afterwards.
We hope to see them all again before Christmas 2017.
Kind regards,
Tracy
Millwall visit Lessness
The Millwall FC Scholars and Steve Sallis came into Lessness Heath to discuss the school values and how the values can be linked into sport. After speaking with the children about how each value was,
and still is to this day, vital for the Millwall FC scholars to progress into the world of football. They were then shown around the school by the ‘Sports Leaders’ where the Millwall FC scholars and Mr Sallis labelled them as an ‘asset’ to the school.

Player Welfare).
Changes in staff after Christmas
We will be saying goodbye to Mrs Lee this term as she leaves us at Lessness to pursue other roles in teaching. We would like to thank Mrs Lee for all her hard work and we wish her the best of luck for the future.
We welcome Mr Martin and Ms Fredua to Lessness after Christmas who will be working in Year 5 and Year 3 respectively. We look forward to them joining the team.
Asthma pumps
If your child has an asthma pump in school, on the last day of term we will be handing them back to
parents to check and then return to us on the first day of term. This is for parents to ensure the pump is still in date and to check all paperwork is up to date and still valid. All asthma pumps need to be in
the box they came in with the pharmacy sticker on and the child's name when they are returned.
Thank you for your co-operation with this.
