1. WELCOME

A very warm welcome to you from the warm hearts of NAMMA Chennai!!!

After a successful run of the rallies in the recent years, the MMSC is all geared up to host the South India Rally once again, which is the 2nd round of the MRF FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship 2017.

The name South India Rally was so called since it traversed through Bangalore, Mysore, Coimbatore, Ooty, Kodaikanal, Kanyakumari, and Trichy. After organizing 39 Editions of the rally, MMSC with its vast experience and its team of committed members is all set for the 40th Edition.

The rally will be 2 stages, within 15 kms radius of Sriperumbudur. The rally Headquarters and the Service Park will be at the MADRAS MOTOR RACE TRACK (MMRT), which is situated 35 kms from Chennai (opposite of Hyundai Motor India Ltd factory) on the NH 4 Chennai – Bangalore highway.

For your accommodation, hotels of various budgets have been listed out, which will be around 15 minutes from the Rally Headquarters. For your information, other essential services have also been included in this guide.

The Rally Headquarters and the Secretariat will be open from 10 00 hrs on Friday 25th August 2017, to enable you to complete all administrative checks and collect road books, maps, etc.

Chennai is going to be warm and humid in August and hence it will be advisable to carry light comfortable clothing and of course plenty of water.

4. ENTRY DETAILS

All details regarding the Categories, Support Events, Entry fees, Payment Details and Vehicle Eligibility for Indian Rally Championship and other support events are available in detail in Articles 2.1 and 4 of the SR which can be viewed in the website of the FMSCI or the MMSC. 5. SERVICE PARK

The Service Park is located at the Rally Headquarters i.e., MMRT which is on the Chennai-Bangalore Highway (NH 4), 35 Kms. from Chennai, opposite the Hyundai factory, 5 Kms. before Sriperumbudur. The following are the amenities, which will be available from the 25th August 2017 to 27th August 2017

12. RECONNAISSANCE

Reconnaissance will be carried out on Saturday, the 26th of August 2017 as per the schedule (Appendix 2) published in the S R (Article no: 9). You are allowed 2 passes at each stage in the allotted time. This will be monitored by the officials present who will also monitor the speed limits.



Would like to inform you that your RECCEE vehicles can be registered on Friday, the 25th of August 2017 between 10:30 hrs and 17:00 hrs at the Rally HQ, MMRT. The SUPER SPECIAL STAGE (SSS), at the MMRT is an ASPHALT (TARMAC) stage. 13. PRE-EVENT SCRUTINEERING/SEALING/MARKING

The scrutiny will be carried out at the Rally HQ, MMRT, on Saturday the 26th August 2017. Competitors are requested to report 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time allotted, as per Article 11 in the S R. All compulsory advertisements (as per Appendix 4 in the S R) and number stickers must be in place before reporting for scrutiny. For the convenience of the competitors, the Rally Secretariat will be open on Friday the 25th of August 2017 between 10:30 hours and 17:00 hours to enable them to finish the administrative checks and get their document “OK” which has to be handed over to the scrutineers before presenting their car for scrutiny. Final Scrutineering will be at the Rally HQ on Sunday the 27th of August 2017 at 1530 hours

14. SHAKEDOWN

A shakedown will be held on Saturday, 26th of August 2017 at 1500 hours. Media and VIP rides will take place during the shakedown and the rally participants are required to be present at the venue. The crew must wear proper and appropriate rally gears for the shakedown. Location: MMRT / Rally HQ



Stage length: 2.0 kms The Rally participants are encouraged to invite their guests and sponsors for the shake down and to ride in their car. Passengers / Guests must sign an indemnity bond prior taking the rides. 15. RALLY START PROCEDURE

There will be a ceremonial start at MMRT on Saturday the 26th of August 2017 at 1530 hours followed by the Super Special Stage. Prior to the ceremonial start, the Parc Ferme will be opened at 1400 hours until 1500 hours on Saturday 26th August 2017. Rally will start at 0730 hours on Sunday at the MMRT. The Overnight Parc Ferme will be open from 1600 hours on Saturday the 26th August 2017 till 0600 hours on Sunday the 27th August 2017 for the convenience of the competitors. 16. RALLY FINISH PROCEDURE

The competitors are requested to follow the instructions of the Officials for the PODIUM FINISH CEREMONY and thereafter, those required to report for final scrutiny will have to do so and the rest return to PARC FERME. Kindly note: During the PODIUM ceremony and upto final scrutiny / Parc Ferme, you are under PARC FERME Regulations.

17. P R ACTIVITIES

Competitors are requested to fill up the Media Information Form and the teams may give press releases to the organizers that will be circulated to the Media. A ceremonial start is organized at the MMRT for the benefit of the drivers, teams and sponsors.



18. MEDIA

The official MEDIA CENTRE is located on the ground floor of TOWER ‘C’ at the Rally HQ, MMRT. The Media Coordinator from the MMSC is Mr. Anand Philar - +91 9483548185 – [email protected] Official Media personnel are requested to complete their accreditation procedures before Friday the 25th of August 2017 at the MEDIA CENTRE and they will be required to wear their TABARDS (PONCHOS) during the Rally and obey instructions of the officials. There will be a Pre-event Press Conference / Media interaction on Saturday the 26th of August 2017 at the venue of the ceremonial start at 1400 hrs. Competitors / teams will be requested by the Promoters to attend the Pre-event Press Conference which is mandatory. The Post-event Press Conference will be held on Sunday the 27th of August 2017 at 1630 hours at the MEDIA CENTRE, Rally HQ, MMRT, wherein the winners of the various classes will be obliged to attend. 19. PASSES AND PLATES

Access charts will be displayed at various places of entry on the Rally venues. Competitors, Media, Service Crew, Guests, other personnel are all advised to strictly adhere to the same. Plates will be distributed at the Rally HQ on Friday the 25th of August 2017.

21. USEFUL FACTS & INFORMATION

Find listed below some information that may be of help. Chennai’s weather is best described as hot, hotter and hottest. The day temperature in August will linger around 35° C (Max.) and 25° C (Min.) and the humidity could range 80% - 95%. So come suitably prepared to face the sweltering heat!!! The time zone is GMT + 5.5 hrs The Currency is Indian Rupees (INR) and it is advised to carry local INR currency when in Chennai. There are Money Changers available in the city and ATMs near the Rally HQ. The Chennai Airport, which is about 30 Kms from the Rally HQ and the Railway Station that is about 35 Kms away, are well connected to other destinations. It is advisable to carry a copy of your Passport and pick up a local sim card for use from the airport itself. Photocopying and printing facilities are available at the Rally HQ. Globe Detective agency is one of the reputed Security agencies in Chennai and they can be contacted on +91-44-42919500.

For those of you who are interested in sightseeing, the Chennai Marina Beach is the second longest beach in the World and there is the World Heritage Site at Mahabalipuram, which is around 50 Kms from the City. For the Shopaholic, we have the Phoenix Mall at Velachery, the Express Avenue Mall on Whites Road.
