The Baltimore County Trail Riders Association would like to thank all of the riders and fans who attended the May 8 round of the Mid-Atlantic Dirt Track Series held at the Mason Dixon Fairgrounds in Delta, PA. Although the wind was howling all day and into the evening and a chill fell upon us after the sun went down, the racing was excellent, and track conditions remained pretty consistent throughout the night.
However, the night wasn’t perfect. Due to a miscommunication between our pit steward and the starting line staff, a rider was not given the required two minutes to report to the starting line, and the race was started without him. While he was offered a starting position for the final event, he declined, and we refunded the rider’s entry fee. The BCTRA prides itself on running an efficient program; we also feel terrible about the mishap and will work diligently to not let that happen again. We also would like to offer the rider a free sign-up for our next event at Delta in August. We appreciate every rider and want all participants to leave our races with a great racing experience!
On a lighter note, we would like to congratulate Melissa Hildebrand, a short track racer from New Jersey, on receiving the first annual BCTRA Scholarship Award. This award was formerly the Katie Crummling Fund, which was started after the passing of her father, Paul Crummling. It is funded from the proceeds of our adult 50 and adult 150 classes at the Timonium Indoors Series during December. Last year, Katie thanked us for the years of support and asked that we use the money for some other purpose.
For more information on the BCTRA Scholarship program, visit our website at www.bctra.com.
Thanks to all the racers and fans that support us; because of you we are able to give back to our riders and charities that are close to all of us.

Two hundred thirty riders registered for the District 7 Gold Series race held at Delmarva Motorsports Park in Easton, MD, on April 18th. With clear skies and temps in the low 60s, it was a great day for racing.
Eleven Quad C riders lined up to take the first gate of the day. Brandon Baugher #39 took the first race and finished 5th in the second, while Zachary Grundon # 415 bounced back from a 5th in the first moto to take the second and as they were battling it out. Alexandre Prince #223 held steady, finishing 2-2 to take the overall win in the class. Quad 30+ and 13-15 Production took to the track next, with Jason Allport #424 taking both wins in 30+ while Dalton Brandt #610 ran unopposed in 13-15. The third race consisted of nine Quad 8-15 Production riders splitting the gate with four Quad 6-11 riders. Brett Benton #221 took both in 8-15, as did Broden Carney #17 in 6-11. Race 4 brought out the Quad 40+ riders, with Anthony Capuano #11 winning the first round and David Elburn #991 taking the second, but after a fourth-place finish in the first moto, it wasn’t enough to keep Capuano from taking the win.
Bikes hit the track with 35+A and Amateur and Robert Mcwhorter #769 not only taking both wins but collecting a cash payout as well. 35+ Amateur mixed things up a bit with Tim Gately #113 taking the first moto and Aaron Sanborn #27 winning the second, but Timothy Cranston #54 went 2-2 to take the overall victory. Cranston also went on to take second in Senior 40+ Amateur behind leader Jonathan Getz #684.
The A and B Quad riders were up next with Lawrence Mantua #5 taking the first moto, and JT Elliot #132 came back from a crash in the first
race to win the second, but Zachery Bonnewell #88 and Keith Hitchens #279 finished 4-2 and 3-3 to take first and second, respectively. In Quad B, Tanner Marvel #22 finished 3-1 and TJ Carver #12x going 1-3, giving Marvel the overall
win, with Josh Rogers #90 taking second with a solid 2-2 finish.
Mason Naecker #15 and Jakob Rassa split wins in 51cc Oil 4-8, with Naecker taking home first place. Naecker also ran unopposed in 51cc 4-6 to take the win. Kobe Vanfossen #60 won both motos in Quad 4-6, and Owen Curtis #6 finished second.
The big bikes hit the track again, with Jay Rassa #736 taking both wins in Vet 30+A.
Jonathan Getz #684 and David Sites #34 split wins in Vet 30+B, with Getz taking the second moto and the overall win.
Josh Willin #131 and Mark Mercer #34 battled it out all afternoon, splitting motos in both Collegeboy and Open B. Mercer took the first motos in each class, but Willin came back to win the second, giving him first place in both classes.
Robert Piazza Jr. #68 won both motos in Schoolboy, Amanda Brown #293 took both in the Women’s Class, and Cory Strickler #37a owned both in 25 Plus. CJ A #97
won both 65 9-11 motos,
and Austin Wood #12 won both in the 10-11 class. Wood also took first in both 85 9-11 motos.
Timothy Gately #113 and Dennis Bassford #495 went one-two in Vet 30+C. Mike Farmer #17 took both motos in 50+, as did Andrew Benson #191 in 250A. Robert Piazza Jr. #68 won the first moto in 250B, with Chad
Dowling taking the second, but Piazza finished one-two and Dowling 3-1, giving Piazza the overall win. In the 14th race, 19 riders lined up for the start of 250C, with Tyler Ball leading the way to finish first in both motos. In Junior Mini, Devon Thomas #74 won both motos, with Jesse Snyder #73 finishing second.
Coty Schock #19 and Tyler Kirschner #244 battled it out in Supermini, with Schock taking both wins. The pair were once again matched up in 85 12-15, with Schock taking the first moto and Kirshner finishing second. Kirschner was out of the action for the second moto, giving Fabian Toye #8 a shot at Schock. Toye ended up second in the moto, giving him a second overall in the class.
Thomas Dorsi III #244 won the Open C class and also finished third in 250C. Austin Pucket #121 made a great effort by finishing second in both classes. John Kernan #52 won both motos in 40+A and took third in both Vet 30+A and Vet 35+A. One of the last motos of the day was Open, with Andrew Benson #191 taking the first moto and Joel Adams #511 taking the second, giving Adams the win.
After a long day of racing action, the remaining riders collected their trophies and other prizes and headed home to get ready for the next race. Photos of this and other D7 events can be purchased at www.delmarvasportsphotography.com

MDRA - Round 3 Happy Ramblers - April 18, 2010 By Jim Mucklin - www.jimmucklinphotography.com
It Doesn’t Matter If It’s Cold!
Cold was the word, dry but raw, but not a problem. Happy has the great roast beef sandwiches to ease the pain. The cold wasn’t a problem for racing, big crowds, big gates. I don’t get a chance to get down to District 7 often, so a lot of these riders from Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia I haven’t seen, so I only know what I saw.
Right out of the gate in the 50 (7-8) comes the #351 of Jack Rogers with the #22 of Guage Keith, both on board Cobras and fast, with a 1-1 and a 2-2 to put them on the top two steps. Nathan Murphy and Chase Yentzer, also on Cobras, stepped into third and fourth. Don’t let the size fool you; pound for pound they ride. Ride of the day - Jordan Jarvis #663; look out boys.
Ladies, sixteen girls to the gate. Green (SUZ), Stephens (KAW) and Stevey (Kaw) go 1-2-3 to advance.
250A was Ritter (YAM) with a 3-2 , Lunceford (YAM) 1-5 and Duffy (SUZ) 4-5 go one, two and three. Open A was insane, I mean insanely fast. I saw Garret and Willy Toth on board the (SUZ) who finished first and third on the line, but 17 bikes, flat out till the flag, is what I came for. I hope they bring this to Doublin.
Got ahead of myself, Junior Mini was all
Suzuki, Kimble #141, Runkles #27 and Garlock #181 go 1-2-3. These guys also dominated the 85 (12-15), with Runkles taking first and Kimble going second.
College boy, Broc Schmelyun (YAM), Jacob Grove (SUZ), and Brad Clites (SUZ) go 1-2-3. In the schoolboy it was Pierce (Suz), Astudillo (Yam) and Coluzzi (KTM). Ryan Clites (SUZ) put down a good ride, got jammed to
get a 9th in the first moto, but stepped up with a 2nd in the second to put him in 4th for the day.
Thanks go out to all the Plus 45; twenty-one guys came to ride. Anyone who has ever ridden or who is this age has to respect these guys. The thanks also goes to all the dads who came out to support their kids, like Rich Jarvis
(YAM), with his wife and two girls racing, still has time to race and get a 7th in Senior A.
Super-Mini, or should I say look out, Austin Simpson, who I’ve never, met aboard the #535 KTM, who said look out SUZ, YAM, KAW; it’s all about the rider, not the ride. Knocked down a 1-1 for the day. Kimble, Toskov and
Palonicola fought it out for 2, 3, and 4.
Last but not least, B in the 250B, only 41 showed up. Tyler Condon #916 (HON) got a 1-1 to put Honda on the top step. Nice ride, Tyler. Good (SUZ) and Smith (Suz) got 2nd and 3rd. It was close in the Open B, but Jacob Grove on the #456 (SUZ) got a 1-1 followed by Condon and Good.
And that’s the way I saw it!’

Delaware State Enduro – “The Sluice”
The Delaware Enduro is known in the ECEA as one of the toughest and most challenging enduros of the season. The event is notorious for “the Sluice,” which is a 300-yard ditch filled with rocks and boulders two to three feet in diameter. Rain run-off completely submerges “the Sluice” under a few feet of water, and the Delaware Enduro Riders send you right through it! This year riders were given the choice of riding “the Sluice” or taking an alternate route around. Riders who managed “the Sluice” successfully would have plenty of time before the next check. However, those who chose to take an alternate route around the Sluice would be hard-pressed to stay on time. Spectators gathered to watch riders battle the rocks and water, with very few riders making it through unscathed. At times, “the Sluice” was strewn with stuck, stalled and downed riders.
After 80+ miles of racing, Andrew Delong would take the overall, dropping just 23 minutes. Rich Lafferty took second 7 minutes off the pace, and Dane Schoeneberg would
round out the podium with a 33. Highpoint A went to Bob Lapinski, highpoint B to Bobby Kitchen, and highpoint C to Joe Winkler.
Charlie Stapleford and the Delaware Enduro Riders pulled off another outstanding event. You can find more information on DER at www.delawareenduroriders.com. For the complete ECEA schedule, visit the ECEA website at www.ecea.org.

10 41st Annual Blue-Gray Motocross Brought To You By The BCTRADistrict 7 Dirttrack Gold Series

“Benson, Callihan, and Stein Take Home the Glory”
For 41 years, the Baltimore County Trail Riders Association has consecutively hosted one of Maryland’s prime amateur motocross events. The race returned to Budds Creek this year with some minor changes. Along with the help of Jonathan Beasley and his track workers, the BCTRA was able to add another fun and exciting weekend into their books. The weatherman predicted for constant rain to penetrate the surface all weekend long. It turns out he was wrong. When leaving for the track on Friday, sprinkles of water began to impact our windshield. Within an hour or so the rain had passed, and it was dry for quite a while. There was an open ride day on Saturday for anyone that would be racing on Sunday. The track looked like it was holding up pretty well and had some different lines than we were used to seeing. Sprinkles returned toward the end of the night, and a steady rain picked up. By morning we had thunderstorms soaking the track. Stubborn and persistent, we know that motorcyclists want to ride at all costs. So at 8 a.m., above the raucous pouring rains, we were aroused by the beautiful voice of “the Great” Wayne Sody telling us to get ready for the rider’s meeting. After the introduction of the event’s rules and regulations, everyone returned to their pits anxious to get out onto the mushy track. Once the rain had passed, the track slowly began to dry and set itself up to be a beautiful day.
Josh Stein #177, TJ Irvin #77, Andy Benson #191, David Callihan #41, Joel Adams #511, Ryan Kennedy #393, and Michael Reynolds #102 were the fast guys that showed up to duke it out in the top expert classes. Budds Creek is the home track for most of these boys, so the battles remained tight since everyone knows their way around the track. Josh Stein was able to get to the first turn in the first moto of the Collegeboy class. Jake Cranston #54 was fourth off the line, but tucked in on the inside of turn one, almost taking away the holeshot. This class had ten competitors ranging from riders like Stein trying to work towards the pro level, all the way down to riders that only have one season under their belts. Stein used his experience to pull away from the pack and take home the win in the first moto. Mark Mercer on
the #221 Honda was able to get past Cranston and then put a gap on the rest of the field, taking home the second spot in the first moto. Russell Grimes #71 of Mt. Airy was unable to catch Cranston or the #405 of Scott Atkinson and finished in the fifth spot for the first moto. Michael Reynolds #98 had taken over the fourth spot at one time, but crashed near the finish line and ended up sixth. Cranston finished in third and Atkinson in fourth. For the second moto, Stein got out front again and just kept pulling farther and farther out front. Mercer pulled away from the pack followed by Ryan Kennedy, who was unable to finish the first moto. Stein took home the overall win followed by Mercer in second. Grimes took home third place with a fifth- and fourth-place finish. Cranston finished fourth with a third and sixth. Reynolds rounded out the top five with a sixth and fifth place finish.
Throughout the years there have been riders that just take your attention. Over the weekend, there were three that kept my attention. Davi Callihan #41 is one of them. He’s very fluent but also hangs it all out there when needed. Another would be Josh Stein
on the #177. He rockets through the turns without losing any time, almost like he’s following a rhythm. The third rider that is truly a joy to watch is the #191 of Andy Benson. Benson’s been riding a 250 two-stroke, and the kid is all heart. When you put these boys together it is quite a show. The 250 A class was a matchup between Callihan, Benson, Michael Reynolds, and another fast local boy, TJ Irvin on the #77. Callihan was able to fight his way to the front and take home both moto victories, leaving him with the overall win. Irvin was able to hold off Benson in the first moto, but Benson retaliated and took second over Irvin in the second moto, giving him the second overall position.
Irvin ended up with third overall followed by Reynolds in fourth.
Callihan didn’t have it so easy when he returned to the track for the Open A class. TJ Irvin was able to get out front early. There was a five rider battle between Irvin, Stein, Benson, Joel Adams, and Callihan. Callihan was working in the back and came up short on the camelback at the bottom of the track. His bike tossed him head over heels, and he went down pretty hard. Stein also ran into some trouble and was unable to get back up into the pack. Irvin went on to hold off the rest of the field and took the moto win. Benson was able to finish in second followed by Adams, Reynolds, Stein, and Callihan. In the second moto, it was Callihan that jumped out front. Stein was in second but couldn’t reel in Callihan. Benson held the third spot and had some ground in between him and Irvin. Coming down from the old start, Callihan lost the front end and was thrown over the front of the bike. He was able to get off of the track, but unable to remount the bike. Stein moved in and took over the lead, where he would finish the race. Benson ended up with the overall because his second and second finish beat out everyone else’s inconsistencies. Irvin was able to finish second overall followed by Stein, Adams, Reynolds, and Callihan.
Mark Mercer was able to take home both moto wins in the Open B class, giving him the overall win. Jake Cranston and Russell Grimes duked it out in the next two spots for most of the day. In the first moto, Grimes got a burst of steam coming up the finish line hill and landed on the topside of Cranston, taking them both out. Scott Atkinson was able to take advantage of their rivalry and finished second in the first moto. Grimes was able to salvage a third-place finish in the first moto, and Cranston was able to finish fourth. Storm Sheckells #16 finished fifth in the first moto followed by Brad Petrilla #193. Cranston set Grimes up for some retaliation, t-boning Grimes at the exact turn where they went down in the first moto. Cranston was able to stay up and finish in second, giving him second overall. Grimes was able to get back up while in third. That is where he ended up in the moto and overall. He shouted out that he figured the first moto incident would come back to get him. Atkinson was able to take home the fourth overall position followed by Sheckells, Petrilla, #886 Kyle Tubbs, #293 Amanda Brown, and #125 Kara Groves.
Steven Sparks #12 took his Kawasaki to two moto wins in the 250 B lites class, giving him the overall. Storm Sheckells was able to finish second overall with a third- and second-place moto finish. Alex Panneton #175 swapped places with Sheckells from the first moto to the second, giving him the third position overall. Kyle Tubbs was able to finish fourth overall. Robert Steward #438 ended up with two dnfs to place him in fifth.
The 250 C lites class was the largest group of the weekend, containing twenty-three riders. Spencer McCall #712 proved that his trip from Tallahassee, Florida, was for a good reason. Not only did he walk away in both lites motos, but pulled ahead of the pack in both Open C motos. He took home two victories in both classes that he ran. Brian Brazier #955 was able to pull off a second-place overall in the lites class, finishing fifth in the first moto and then second in the second. Austin Puckett #121 followed in third
with a third and fifth finish, followed by Jacob Diana #39, John Linkous #923, John Pereira #60, Matthew Langrehr #15, Devon Piaquadio #272, Dillon Posten #594, and Charlie Jones #943 rounding out the top ten. Jones was able to come up with two second place finishes in the Open C, taking home his best finish yet with second overall. Langrehr finished with an overall third after only being on a big bike for a couple of weeks. Puckett was able to take home fourth followed by Braden Burton #757, Sean Johnson #304, Bryan Gibson #87, Wyatt Johnson #124, Chris Howdyshell #311, and Joey Alexander #14.
A battle emerged in the 50cc 7-8 year old class between the #202 of Cameron Jackson and the #5 of Justin Luckett. The two seemed like they swapped positions at every turn. In both motos Jackson was able to pick the right turns to be victorious, taking home the wins. Luckett had to settle for second followed by the
#3 of Jacob Gast and #111 of Reece Reynolds. Luckett may not have taken the victory in the 7-8 class, but he did take home the overall win in the 50cc 4-8 year old oil injected class. Noah Goyer #18 was able to take his KTM to an overall win in the 50cc 4-6 year old class, being the youngest motorcycle rider to enter a class.
The day was full of all types of surprises. Little Jesse Snyder #73 decided at the beginning of the season that he would like to try and switch from a Kx65 over to a KTM. He has been busting his butt, trying to take home an overall win. He has come close with numerous second- and third-place finishes. At Budds, he was able to double, winning both the 65cc 10-11 class and the Junior Mini class. Snyder didn’t have it easy, getting off to a bad start in the Junior Mini where the #43 of Jordan Desombre was out in front. Kobe White #202x trailed Desombre followed by Kyle Mcallister #121 and Snyder. Snyder was able to battle his way all the way up to second, but couldn’t get past his longtime buddy Desombre. Desombre went into the second moto with a win under his belt, knowing that he could possibly take home the win. This time Snyder was able to get out front and hold Desombre off for the overall
Andy Benson (#191) took the overall win in the Open A class after battling David Callihan, Joshua Stein, and TJ Irvin.
David Callihan (#41) makes a practice run before taking the win in the 250 A lites class at the Blue-Gray on

Nicole Gates (#44) pulled away from all the guys and ran away with the win in the Quad C class.

victory and his first ever. Desombre took home a hard fought second followed by White and Mcallister. In the 65cc 10-11 first moto, it was Austin Wood #12 who got the holeshot and took home the moto win. Snyder came back in the second moto to pull ahead for the win, giving him the overall victory. Wood took home second followed by Kyle Chrisovergis #813, Seth Piaquadio #472, and Trey Carroll #47.
Kobe White went on to win both motos in the 65cc 7-11 class, taking home an overall win. Ryan Ganoe #38 was able to finish in the second spot followed by Cameron Jackson #202, Dillon Curry #7, Quentin Thomas #364, Kyle Proctor #1x, Kyle Mcallister #121, and Ryan Proctor #93.
Amanda Brown #293 dominated the Women’s class. She jumped out in front for the first moto and pulled away. In the second moto Kara Groves #125 gave her a run for the first lap before running into trouble. Samantha Bergman was sponsored on one of Wayne Sody’s Hondas in third before taking over second. Sara Sexton #118 held fourth until getting past Groves to take third. Groves made a charge back toward the front of the pack, but ran into Sexton on the horseshoe after Sexton hit neutral. The two raced to get their bikes started, and it was Sexton that got out first. Groves didn’t have the leg height needed to start the bike on such a steep hill, leaving the poor girl stranded. Brown pulled away with the win followed Bergman in second and Sexton in third. Delaney Cadden #900 was able to take home the fourth spot. We were glad to see her on the track after a nasty spill on Saturday. A faster rider made a bad decision to jump on top of Cadden coming over the camelback stepup.
The older, experienced riders hit the track for the 50+ class. These are the guys that everyone envies, hoping to be in the shape and position after so many years of racing and injuries. Jeff Callihan #41 was able to pull ahead and win both motos and prove that he still has it. Doug Wentzell #810 was able to take over the second spot over Michael Benson #191. John Thomas #60 put in a good ride to take home the fourth spot. Our dear Ole’ Wayne Sody #511 finished in fifth after taking seventh and third in his motos. I saw him over there kicking and kicking, draining the energy out of his body. Billy Kraft #57 finished in sixth wearing his dirttrack helmet. He was a sight to watch, half-standing and running around the off-cambered turn. Paul Johnson #304 finished out the class, not being able to make it to the line in the second moto. Mike Farmer would have been a strong force in the race, but he was taken to the hospital on Saturday after a practice crash.
Dominating the Senior A, Plus 35 A, and Vet A was the white and green #52 of John Kernan. Brett Friedel took a weekend away from dirttrack to run the Classic Blue-Gray. He was able to holeshot Kernan in both motos of the Senior class. Kernan ended up with the win followed by Friedel on the “Blevin’s Special” Kawi followed by Dough Wentzell. Kernan battled a little with Wade Blevins #318 in the Plus 35 class before pulling away for the win.
Blevins settled for second. Jason Galbraith #428 won the first moto of the Vet A class and held the lead for the entire second moto leading up until the last turn. Kernan was hot on his heels but couldn’t make an early pass. Galbraith took the outside line on the bowl turn, and Kernan shot underneath, making the pass for the win and the overall.
Timothy Cranston #54 doubled with wins in both the Senior B and Plus 35 B classes. He took all four moto wins over the field. James Travis #43 held off James Churn #5 in the second moto to take the second spot. Jd Gillepsie #183 took fourth followed by John Thomas, Timmy Shipp #x, Arthur Ashe #214, and Brain Piaquadio rounding out the top eight. Neal Harris #839 followed Cranston in the Plus 35, and Timothy Gately #113 brought home third. David Sites #34 pulled both holeshots in the Vet B class and walked away with the wins. James Lindsey #287 came in second, and John Geyer #7 finished in third.
The first holeshot in the 25 Plus class went to Pete’s Cycle employee Justin Kidd #1. Kidd began to tire and dropped behind Jason Galbraith #428 and Brad Petrilla #193. Galbraith took both moto wins followed by Petrilla, Kidd, and Sean Johnson #304. Dennis Bassford #495 took home the overall in the Vet C class followed by Neal Harris #839, Loring Sparks #12, Timothy Gately #113, Terence Schappele #222, and Craig Johnson #453.
Jordan Desombre returned to the track for the 85cc 9-11 class, where he would finish second behind Austin Wood, who took the win. Jesse Snyder took home the third spot followed by Nick Knell #49 in fourth. Fabian Toye #8 won the second moto after finishing in second behind Arie Reachard #945 in the first. Jesse Chapell #21 took home third followed by Nicholas Mair #82, Randy White #39, Phillip Harley #513, and Tristin Piaquadio #372. Toye was unable to shake Austin Moore #717 in the Super Mini class. Moore went on to take the win followed by Toye, Broderick Weaver #928, Bo Courtney #157, Jesse Chapell #21, Randy White #39, Ryland Muckle #89, and Charles Keenan #175. Michael Reynolds #98 was able to pull ahead and win the Schoolboy class followed by John Pereira #60, Robert Hynson #238, Wyatt Burdette #223, and Ryan Dragunas #18.
Taylor Bolewski #04 made the girls proud, finishing right behind Broden Carney #17 in the Quads 51-70 Production class. Carney and Bolewski had a battle brewing in the first moto until Bolewski’s motor kept dying, causing a DNF. She was running fourth off the line in the second moto before diving under everyone in the first turn. She went from fourth to first coming out of the turn. Carney was able to get back past her but had to fight her until the end. Carney ended up with the win followed by Bolewski and Dustin Brandt #806. Jack Hartman #16 took home the overall in the Quad 50cc Production 6-8 year class. Kobe Vanfossen #60, Skyler Thompson #29, and Owen Curtis #6 battled in the Quad 50cc 4-6 class. Vanfossen was able to take the win followed by Curtis and Thompson.
It was a toss-up in the Quad 71-90cc 8-15 class. Brandon Oneill #504 was able to capture the win in the first moto followed by Hunter Johnson #18 and Dillon Toomey #10. Johnson moved up to take the win in the second moto followed by Toomey and then Oneill. Johnson took the overall, Oneill second, and Toomey third. Haeden Wilburn #3 and Liam Johnson #751 battled for the fourth and fifth spots. Dalton Brandt #610 won in the 200 Production class after Caleb Phillips didn’t make it to the line.
The Quad A class was packed with nine faster contenders. Keith Hitchens #279 was able to capture the win followed by Lawrence Mantua #5, Zachary Bonniwell #88, Kyle Tippett #55, and Joseph Elliott #152 rounding out the top five. Tj Carver #12x pulled away in the Quad B class. Josh Rogers #90 was able to bring home second followed by Gustav Achterberg #123x, Matthew French #123, Trent Cougle #124, Scott Vanfossen #56, Tanner Marvel #22, and Chris Buchanan #52. The Quad C
class had eleven riders. Zachary Gates #415 was able to win the first moto, but unable to hold off a fast female looking for a win. Nicole Gates #44 pulled the holeshot in the second moto and ran away with the race. She pulled away and never looked back or slipped up. Gates ended up in second followed by Robert Correll #94, Gary Keister #180, Abraham Roth #722, and Erik Faatz #82 rounding out the top six. Ronald White #194 was able to capture the title in the Quad Vet class. After a first moto win, Jason Allport #424 finished second behind White in the second run. Shane Foxwell #142 was able to finish third in front of Trent Cougle #124. The battles were tight in the Quad Senior class. After a win in his first moto, Anthony Capuano #11 was unable to finish his second moto. Edward Puckett #8 finished behind Capuano in the first race, but went on to win the second moto and take the overall. David Elburn #991 was able to finish second followed
by Scott Vanfossen #56, Micheal Bingham #162, George Aud #79, Craig Johnson #453, and Raymond Rands.
The weekend was tons of fun and couldn’t have turned out any better thanks to the BCTRA, Jonathan Beasley and staff, event sponsors, and, of course, the riders.

The moutainous Evansville MX Park in Berwick, PA, showed off its steep elevations in full force for the second round of the District 6/Ultimate Series. But the riders were put to the test after a rain storm drenched the Evansville MX Park overnight before race day on Sunday. As the rains continued through the night, more kept falling and falling into the morning, making the track extremely muddy as morning practices went under way. Riders were coming off the track with an unidentified look as the mud completely covered their number plates, goggles, and pretty much everything else. The track conditions continued to worsen as the Evansville MX Park staff decided to run only a one-moto format for all classes. Pee Wee classes ran on the upper, somewhat dryer supercross track for the first number of motos, and the remainder of the classes ran shortly after the Pee Wee riders finished up their motos. For all riders, it came down to one moto, do or die, for their overall finish on the day and to grab important Ultimate Series points for the series runners. Here are the top riders from the day:
Bromley Suzuki’s Cory Carsten continues the Carsten legacy in the sport of motocross by grabbing two overall wins in the 65cc (7-11) B and 85cc (9-11) B classes at Evansville. Good starts and intelligent mud riding kept his 65cc and 85cc machines on two wheels in the rough conditions.
GPMX School’s own Greg Pamart took advantage of the rough conditions and came away with three overall wins in the 25+ A, 30+ A, and 35+ A classes. With Bromley Suzuki’s Barry Carsten and Holeshot Cycle’s Gaylon
Dickson to battle within those classes, the day wasn’t easy for Pamart. He kept his two wheels afloat over the mud to secure a stronghold in the Ultimate Series points chase.
Another 3 overall winner at Evansville was Kawasaki rider Tyler Conner. Conner got great starts and went away with the 250 B, Open B, and Schoolboy 2 class wins. Yamaha rider Jason Astudillo, Kawasaki rider Paul Sanfelice, and Pagoda’s own Richie Kastle were runners-up to Conner in each of the three classes.
Kawasaki rider Brad Roth secured two overall wins on the day in the 250 C and Open C classes. His wins didn’t come easy as Calvyn Beck, aboard a Yamaha YZ125, was on the gas each moto and pressured Roth numerous times. With the steep elevations and inches upon inches of rain that fell, Roth’s Kawasaki KX250F four-stroke held up better than Beck’s YZ125 two-stroke on the day.
Suzuki rider Addison Emory had a solid day, taking a win in the 85cc (12-15) B class
and two second-place finishes in Supermini and Schoolboy 1, which was won by Jason Astudillo by quite a large margin. KTM rider Mike Giovanniello topped Emory in the Supermini class with a great ride.
The A classes saw the same winners as round 1 back at Pagoda as Suzuki rider Ryan Zimmerman took home a fairly easy win in Open A, and after a disappointing Open A moto, Addison Kramer topped it with a win in the 250 A class after an amazing dash through the pack to win the moto and overall win.
The 50cc classes saw some fun, slippery action as Dominic Amilcare dominated on his Cobra, taking home wins in the 50cc (4-6) and 50 Oil (4-8) classes. KTM rider Brian Espinoza stayed solid for two second-place finishes behind Amilcare. Jordan Jarvis smoked all the boys in the 50cc (7-8) class with ease at Evansville.

wins on the day in 65 (7-11) B and 85 (9-11) B classes at Evansville.Imagine you being a scorer and seeing this rider go by the fi nish line.
What number would you write down?
Austin Daniels (7d) and Alec Wademan (911) battle for one dry line in the 85 (9-11) B class at Evansville.

LET IT RAIN
Round 4, and could we get a break from the weather? Yes, not sunny and beautiful, but the heavy rain held off. As I drove in on Sunday morning, I was ready to go with the rubber boots and muddy riders and a yucky day. As I walked up to check in, I noticed a young man giving Sunday services, and I heard him make a point about how we complained about the cold and snow, and now we will complain about the heat, point well taken. It could be worse; we should be thankful, and the prayers were heard - a few sprinkles, but a great day.
Doublin Gap, if you’ve never been there, is one of those places that feels right, feels like home. In addition to the beef and pork BBQ, there seems to be a friendliness that is evident in people’s attitudes - until the gate drops. Many of these riders I know and have watched race; I don’t know if it’s the competition or the fast track, but it seems to me riders have that little extra when they come here.
Come here they did. The racing started with six guys in 250A. We all know Duffy, Corbin, Hougentogler, Lunceford, Krabal, the 56 of Jeff Yentzer, and local favorite Broc Schmelyun aboard the new green machines. I didn’t get a chance to talk to Broc, but congrats on the bikes and the ride. Broc put down a 1-1 for first, followed by Lunceford and Duffy. You know what I say, “They don’t play in A.” I couldn’t keep up - super fast lap times. Mr. Holton takes first with a (2-1), Mr. Duffy gets second with a (1-5), and Mr. Lunceford gets third with a (5-2).
In the 250B, man who was on the #77? Dakota Yohe, and was he on fire, out front and down with a 1-1 put him in first for the day, and right behind him with a 2-2, Ryan Clites, looking real comfortable on his move to the big bikes, followed by Steven Sparks in third.
In the fifties, I was talking with a couple of Vet riders at the fence, and a blast of yellow Cobra goes by. It’s Jack Rodgers with a big, I mean a big lead. This is the second time I’ve seen Jack, and all I can say is, “Welcome to Mr. Rodgers’s neighborhood.” He takes the first, followed by Neidigh, and Jordan Jarvis gets third.
In the 85’s and supermini, it was Runkles, Reachard, Carlock and then Runkles, Garlock, Kimble. There isn’t going to be any blowout here. By the end of this series the points will be really close. Flat out, great racing. School boy was Ryan Clites, and the 4-stroke of Dakota Yohe, who also had time to take a 1-1 for first in Open B.
The women: 13 girls to the gate. It was Chelsea Newbold, Kelsey Green and Atalie Yingling going 1, 2, 3.
I came out to watch a little race in the Plus-25. Chad Aughinbaugh just moved into this class, which has nothing to do with age. It’s experience and maybe bragging rights, I don’t know, but it’s always good racing. This class is dominated by Mike Bear, and if you can run with Mike you’re doing well. So what does Chad do? He throws down a monster holeshot in the first moto and finishes with a 1-1 for first, followed by Mike Bear and Shane Krabel. Nice!
Thanks out to all the Vet riders who came out and for the support they gave to the kids, and for the 18 guys over 45 who came out, my hat is off to you.
And that’s the way I saw it.

Storms held off for the Dutchmen race
An all-day thunderstorm threat was in the forecast, but good weather stayed on our side as the skies were clear and sunny with a warm spring breeze for the third round of the District 6 MX Ultimate Quad Series at Dutchmen MX Park on Sunday, May 2, 2010.
The Dutchmen crew prepared the track before the start of the race and in between different motos to keep the track at an overall good condition throughout the whole day’s event. First out of the gate was one of two divisions of the Open C class. The class had
over 20 riders, leaving the Dutchmen with no better choice than to divide the class into two divisions. Holding second place in points for the district, Keenan T. Gehman takes first place while points leader Cody Johnson takes second.
Next out of the gate were 90-2 stroke and 125-4 stroke, followed by Open A. There were more than 15 riders for the A class, making for a close holeshot, but that didn’t stop Kale Witmer (117) and Jesse Sheaffer (311) battling for the lead position. After the first turn, Sheaffer took the lead to start off the first lap. Points leader Zachary Frantz (97
stood his ground and placed first, followed by Tony Lucarelli (141) and Trevor Borger (24) in second and third.
Later on in the Pro Am moto, where many of the A riders got a second chance at placing
in the top spots, Randy Lehr (110), who placed 16th in the A class, came out on top, winning the holeshot and maintaining a lead throughout the entire race, giving him first place and also leading the district in points for the Pro AM class.
With only a few minor mechanical setbacks and one EMS call to the track to assist Jeffrey
Schwartz (66) (Class 90-200/90-300) after he rolled his quad and himself after attempting the triple in the middle of the track, the day’s event was successful with every racer giving it their all.
Round 4 of the District 6 MX Ultimate Quad Series will be held at Miles Mountain for the track’s season opener sponsored by MotoOption Clothing on Sunday, May 9, 2010.

The starter holds up the marker card as the Open A class prepares for the start of their race.
Zachary Frantz (97) takes fi rst in Open A 15+.
Due to a hang-up around the fi rst turn of the holeshot for the 30+ Class, Vince Gambino (3) had to make a wide turn to avoid colliding with any other riders, giving him the lead to start the race.
Joshua Helder (88) battles his way through the fi rst turn of the holeshot.
District 6 points leader in the Pro AM class, Randy Lehr (110), takes fi rst in the Pro Am moto.
Battling through the holeshot, Kale Witmer (117) and Jesse Sheaffer (311) fi ght to take the leading two positions. Sheaffer got ahead of Witmer around the fi rst burm and took the lead into the fi rst lap of the third round of the MX Ultimate Quad Series at Dutchmen MX Park in Pine Grove, PA, on May 2, 2010.
District 6 Open C points leader Cody Johnson (138) takes a
rough turn and battles his way into second place.

MAMA President Corner Well, here we are almost halfway
through the season. We have had some great races this year along with record attendance. Mother Nature has also been on our side. Thanks to everyone that has attended. We hope you all have had a great time.
This year is also one of the best years for our contingency program. Check out our race schedule for a complete list. We have something for every class and would like to thank all of our sponsors for all the awesome support.
One of the new and exciting things we have added this year is DOUBLE POINTS races. Yes, Double Points. This could make things a little interesting this year, especially for that year-end trophy. The dates are 7/11/10, 8/15/10, and 9/12/10. You don’t want to miss this. It could be another part of our schedule for next year.
The new instant online scoring has been tested and will now be available at all of our races. Anyone that has internet access, air card, a Blackberry or I-Phone can see results live. This is just another way that if you can’t be at the track or you want to track who is racing from your RV, you can still follow how riders finish. Go to www.mamamx.com, click on Race
Results 2010, go to live results. Just one more thing that makes MAMA so unique.
The second half of the year will prove to be just exciting as the first half. We still have a lot of contingencies for all classes. Also, we will be having some Special Events you don’t want to miss. Each year we try to make it better than the year before.
With this said, I hope to see you around the track. And remember one thing: no matter what happens or where you finish, always have fun.
Don Logan PresidentMAMA
D7 President’s Corner
Can you believe it’s June? This is the halfway point of the year. Time flies when you’re having fun. The biggest spectacle of the year happens on Father’s Day. After a one-year absence, the National Motocross Series returns to Budds Creek on Father’s Day. You can’t miss this chance to watch and see in person the best motocrossers in the world. Yes, I said the world. We have proven over the last twenty years that we have the fastest motocrossers, bar none. All of the European champions come to the U.S. to train and bring their titles over here. America’s soil is the breeding ground for all of motocross’ superstars. Due to the injuries this year in the supercross series, we will have the chance to see Stewart, Reed, and Alessi compete with the newly crowned supercross champion. I am sure Dungy, Short and Millsaps will be up to the challenge. The most exciting racing will be in the lites division, with Weiner, Purcell, Hahn, Barcia, Canard and Metcalf serving notice that they each want the outdoor title for themselves. Tell your neighbors and friends that the best event of the year for competitive sports is right here in our own backyard. You can view the whole track from just about anywhere. I’m sure Jonathan Beasley will have the track manicured to perfection. It is a MUST-SEE event, so BE THERE!
On a more solemn note, the racing community has lost one of its family members. Jack Carlton, the son of Mark and Shelley Carlton of Rocket Raceway, was involved in a fatal car accident on Friday, May 7, 2010. Jack Carlton was twenty years
old. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Carlton family. In memory of Jack, the scheduled race for May 16, 2010, was held in his honor. The overwhelming support for the Carltons came from all corners – District 5, District 7, District 6, ECEA, Green Marble, MDRA, MAMA, PAMX and Masters Series were all represented. A memorial lap, run in silence, was performed by Dustin Kendal, a childhood fried of Jack and fellow racer. We’ll all remember Jack in our hearts and remember that family is so important when it comes to the support that we show each other as we race to the winners’ circle. The overwhelming support by the whole community was much appreciated by the Carlton Family. On behalf of the Carltons and District 7, thanks go out to everyone who attended and participated in the first Jack Carlton Memorial Race. Godspeed, Jack.

Lafferty wins at TriCounty!
This year’s Tri-County National Hare Scramble consisted of two days of racing. PeeWee and Youth racers would compete on Saturday. C riders would race for two hours on Sunday followed by the three-hour main event. Mother Nature blessed the racers with sunny 80 degree weather both days.
Eighteen AA riders lined up for the main event. Mike
Lafferty jumped out for an early lead with Nate Kanney, Andrew Delong and Jerod Stoner chasing for the top spot. After four laps, Nate Kanney experienced brake problems that would end his day early. After six laps, 66 miles of racing, Mike Lafferty would take the overall followed by Delong and Stoner. Paddy Holloway, Chase Rusden and Sean Gaughan were the fastest A riders of the day. The top B riders included Dieter Willenbrock, William Schoeneberg and Mike Medeiros.
The C event consisted of an 8-mile course that challenged racers for two hours. Douglas Nordberg would prove to be the fastest C rider of the day followed closely by Drew Evans and John Shukovsky.
Saturday’s top honors in the Youth race went to Tegan Temple, Jeffrey Hall and Craig Delong, who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. First-place in the PeeWee race went to Henry Scheetz Jr. followed by Justin Lafferty and Cortney Abrams.

Round 3: District 6/Ultimate SeriesHurricane Hills Sports CenterClifford, PA - May 2, 2010
By Matt Wozney
Hurricane Hills Sports Center played host to round 3 of the District 6/Ultimate Series, and with a weekend filled with great weather conditions and a scenic start to each day in the mountains surrounding the facility, the racing proved to be just as exciting and made for some great battles in the Ultimate Series points chase. Let’s see who stood on top of the box at the Hurricane.
The A classes saw some new faces on the 2010 District 6/Ultimate Series round at Hurricane Hills. Ocean County Powersports pro rider Ronnie Stewart made an appearance at the Hurricane after coming back from injury. Stewart looked strong in the Open A class, grabbing the overall win with a 2-1 moto finish over New Yorker Sunny Drake, who just got back from major knee surgery himself. Drake wasn’t 100%, but he gave it a go against some quick competition. Drake would finish second overall with a 1-3 finish. Lebanon Valley Cycles’ own Kyle Sidle, much improved on his second-place finish in moto 2, earns third overall with a 6-2 finish. MCC/Kawasaki rider Addison Kramer and Suzuki rider Ryan Zimmerman, current points leader going into Hurricane Hills, rounded out the top five.
250 A was the class of the day, as the racing back and forth each moto brought people to the fences, clinging to them with excitement. In moto 1, Stewart grabbed the moto win over Sidle and Kawasaki rider Kerry Kaminskie, who took an impressive holeshot on his KX250 two-stroke. Fourth went to Honda rider Will Bleich, and fifth went to DHY’s Dan Bogdan. Moto 2 came to be the craziest moto of the day as Stewart grabbed the holeshot and seemed to have it in the bag until a crash in the back tree line took him out of the race (he was ok). Yamaha rider Dylan Brajkovich took over the lead and held on until Bleich caught up and got by Brajkovich for the lead two laps in. Drake, who threw down a DNF in moto 1, was back on it in moto 2 and got by Kramer, who was running fourth, and Brajkovich. Drake had a solid second-place
ride going and caught up to Bleich pretty quick. Then, with two laps to go, Drake and Bleich made their way toward the downhill triple and Drake’s front tire slid out right after the step up before that triple, landing him out of the race with a banged up hand. Bleich took advantage of Drake’s mishap and grabbed the moto and overall win with a 4-1 finish. Brajkovich, who gained serious time on Bleich at the end of moto 2, got second in moto 2 and third overall on the day in 250 A. Second overall went to Sidle with a 2-5 ride. Fourth overall went to Kramer (7-3) and fifth went to Bogdan (5-6).
Today’s Notable Rides:- Suzuki rider Aaron Lampi put on a “two-
strokes aren’t dead” day as he put his RM250 two-stroke on top of the box with overall wins in the 250 B and Schoolboy 2 classes. Lampi had solid starts and blistering speed to put
those two wins together at Hurricane Hills.- The notorious Vet class battles between
Barry Carsten and Greg Pamart continued at Hurricane Hills as the two riders swapped moto wins all day long. Carsten had the better day, taking home the +30 A, +35 A, and +40 A overall wins as Pamart grabbed himself a +25 A overall win at Hurricane Hills.
- Bel Ray/Stumpy’s Yamaha rider Brandon Hartranft cleaned house in the 85 (9-11) B and 85 (9-13) classes at Hurricane Hills. With winning many Loretta Lynn area qualifiers so far this year and looking real good going into the regionals, Hartranft is clearly on top of his class this year and looks forward to an improved run at Loretta Lynn’s in August.
- Kawasaki rider Kevin Hicks got the better of fellow Kawasaki rider Brad Roth in both 250 C and Open C classes to grab
two overall wins on the day. Roth had the starts, but Hicks had the speed dialed in at the Hurricane to go home with some solid hardware for the drive home.
- Kevin Tompkins had it going for him with two overall wins on two different sized machines at Hurricane Hills with overall wins in Super Mini (12-16) and 125 Two Stroke classes. Tompkins, a constant local at Hurricane Hills, took his past experience at the track to earn him those overall wins.

win in the 65 (7-11) B class at Hurricane Hills.Last year’s Ultimate Series champion, Dylan Brajkovich, finished
third overall in the 250 A class at Hurricane Hills.

Daytona 2010 By Wayne SodyRound 4 PA State Hare Scramble
Bloomsburg, PA - May 9, 2010By Maggie Platko
The 2010 race season has only just begun, with crew members preparing the tracks each weekend and racers practicing harder than ever. This year, there is a new addition to the schedule, a course that has never been
ridden before, and the racers at the 4th Round of the PA State Hare Scramble Series had the opportunity to be the first.
Sponsored by the Evansville MX Park, round 4 of the PA State Hare Scramble was relocated to the Bloomsburg area in North Eastern, PA. As you arrived to the park and looked around, it was unclear where the course was going to be ran because of its unique scenery. This park differed from others due to an oversized pond, a steep, weeded
hill that was used mainly as a foot path for spectators to view the other sections of the course, and a carved out section of a slate rock face that was used as the backdrop for the holeshot.
Bikes were first to go on the course, starting with Pee Wee, Youth, and then followed by the Adults. Pee Wee riders had a shortened course, while Youth and Adults had an extended version that equaled up to 3.5 miles. First off the line for the Adult Bikes was 201 Open A. Tyler Hunter (4) and Myles Miller (222) were in constant battle for the lead position. Hunter squeezed by Miller in the end to take first, while points leader Ryan D. Francis placed third. Burd Guers, Christian B. Epting, Tyler McDonald, and Drew Evans all placed first to maintain their lead in points for the district in their classes.
Not too long after the adult bikes were finished, all of the quad classes lined up to get ready for their race. Youth started, then came the adults. For the bikes, the first turn after the holeshot was a bit slick, but for the quads it turned into a complete dust storm. After the first and second rider made the turn for the first straightaway, riders that followed were at a loss for what direction they were going. Some went off course, while others slowed down until some of the dust
cleared and they could make out a path, but that wasn’t going to stop them. With only a few exceptions, it looked as though it was going to be a close fight for all of the classes. The moment the flag dropped for the AA class, Chris Borich took off, got the lead, and never looked back. Borich is
the leader in points for his class with a perfect 5 for 5 1st places in the 2010 season, thus far. Also having a perfect season so far is Damian Faust (Open B 15+), Ryan Brinker (91-200 2 stk/91-300 4 stk), and Evan Leibensperger (100-150cc 4 stk).
Other than unique scenery and a cold front that brought cold winds and cloudy skies, nothing was standing in the way of the racers and their goal to win. The 5th Round of the PA State Hare Scramble Series will be held at the Evansville MX Park in Berwick, PA, sponsored by BP Promotions on Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Nothing like a little February weather in May. Raw was the word, and the wind was brutal, but everyone came to race. This is round two of the Mainline Series between Pagoda and Sleepy Hollow and sponsored by Ephrata Cycle Center, Bryant Racing Development along with Sullivan Distributing, HJC Helmets and Scott Goggles. I knew the weather was terrible on Saturday, so when I rolled in Sunday, I thought whoever’s here has to be hardcore. Thirty bikes in C, 22 in Open B. But I came watch the Vet classes, and I got a great show. In the 45+ it went Biringer(1-1), Schuler (2-2), Dipiertro (3-3), yes that’s 45+.
In the 40+ It was Jimmy Mac, Eddie Anewalt, and Bill People to go 1,2,3 in the A class. These guys can throw down with the best of them, and what a show I got. In the 40+B it was Harmes, Getz, and Biringer to round it out. I tried to get
some photos, but I come to watch the race.
In 25+, it was Chad Aughinbaugh aboard that ECS Honda to get the overall with a (1-1) followed by Mike Klinger, who hasn’t missed a beat since I saw him last with a (2-2) followed by Tim Wilson.
I know it’s Mother’s day, but I
would like to give a “shout out” to all the Vet riders who not only show their commitment to the sport but to the sportsmanship and leadership roles they exhibit.
Open A: thirteen came, but in
the end it was Kyle Sidle with a (2-1) and Greg Pamart with a (1-2), both aboard Lebanon Valley Suzukis, followed by David Disciullo. In 250A, serious stuff, Dylan Brajkovich throwing down some serious corners to win overall with a (2-1), Kyle Sidle with a (1-2), followed by Kerry Kaminskie.
Over in Open B, Stephen Vertucci gets overall, Tyler Conner gets second, and Richy Kastle gets third. Fast, fast, fast, look out A, 22 B bikes. With these three, plus Hildebrand, Sanfelice and Bobby Piazza, you’re gonna have your hands full. In 250, it was all Tyler Conner with a (1-1) on the green machine; Kastle and Piazza followed.
A and B are great to watch, but there’s something about a good supermini and 85 race to get the crowd pumped. In Supermini, Luke Palonicola showed that consistent form that gives him the overall. The field was full of 6-2, 5-4, and 4-5’s so you know the racing was bar to bar, but Pettit gets second, and Emory gets third. If you think that’s good, you should have seen in the 85 (12-15). Arie Reachard gets a well-deserved overall. Kevin Rivera gets second, and Addison Emory gets third, followed by Brennen Weindel (4-4), and David Vertucci (3-5). Most of this pack also raced Jr. Mini. Great racing guys. You probably didn’t notice because you were busy racing, but you have a lot of fans on the fence.
And that’s the way I saw it.Jim

The MAMA series made its debut at the Tomahawk MX Park in Hedgesville, West Virginia, and it turned out to be another fun-filled MAMA weekend with 500+ riders in at-tendance throughout the two-day event. The weather was sunny for the most part, but the 30-40 mph wind gusts throughout the week-end did not help as the track got dry really quick and the pits looked like desert storm at times. Saturday had two sessions of open practices and in between was a handful of races that included all of the Vet classes from Senior to Super Senior, Schoolboy 2 (14-16) 4-Stroke, and the Women’s class. Sunday was a full race day that included racing of all youth classes and abilities and from the top names in the region to the core MAMA racers that travel to every round; there was plenty of talent at the drop of each starting gate. Let’s see who stood on top at Tomahawk!
80A 12-15 and Supermini 12-16 brought the fans to the fences at Tomahawk with Mary-land’s top Suzuki rides of Tyler Kirschner and Jacob Runkles going at it each moto. In 80A 12-15, Kirschner was on top, sweeping both motos, but Runkles was not far behind in each moto. Supermini, however, saw the cards fall more for Runkles as he took the first moto win over Kirschner. In moto 2, it was a great battle between the two riders, with Kirschner lead-ing the way and looking for the overall win. But with a couple laps to go, Kirschner fell
into a loamy trap in one corner that sent him flying to the ground after his bike swapped out of the corner, thus, giving the lead to Runkles. Kirschner was out and sent to the hospital for evaluation, and he later fully recovered and was already looking forward to racing next weekend. So, after Kirschner’s crash, Runkles cruised to the checkers and the overall win in Supermini 12-16. Com-ing in second in the moto and overall was Blettner Powersports’ own Dylan Blettner, who was consistently behind Kirschner and Runkles the entire day but couldn’t match the pace they were
running out front. KTM rider Michael Holliday, who won the 80B 12-15 class at Tomahawk, rode to an impressive third overall in Supermini 12-16 on his KTM. Yamaha rider Nick Carruba and Kawasaki rider Cody Green rounded out
the top 5 overall in Supermini 12-16.
D o w e l l , Maryland’s Cam-eron Dowell was on fire on the weekend, grab-bing two overall wins in the 60A and Junior Mini 7-11 classes, but his wins didn’t come easy, as another Blettner
Power Sports rider shook up the standings in Dalton Blettner on his Suzuki. Blettner came through with a moto 1 win in Junior Mini 7-11 as Dowell took the overall win in moto 2. In 80A 9-11, it was a total opposite class compared to Junior Mini as Dowell took the moto 1 win and Blettner took the more important moto 2 win to grab the overall over Dowell. Both riders were back and forth all day and rode very well. The riders who stayed close but not enough to get by were Dunovan
Ivory, who finished third in Junior Mini and 80B 9-11 and second in 60A; Walter Benetiz, who fin-ished fourth in Junior Mini and second in 80B 9-11; and Christopher Ford, who rode his KTM to fifth in Junior Mini but put on a big 1-1 sweep in the 80C 9-11 class.
The A classes saw a swarm of Yamaha two stroke machines flying around the Tomahawk track all weekend, as Ben Ritter, Tyler Webber, and Andy Benson were all battling for top spots and purse money aboard their YZ250s. But in the mid-dle of the Yamahas stuck
out a Suzuki four stroke rider in that of Tommy Mudgett, who took an overall win in the Open A class on his RMZ450 much thanks to having the fastest lap times in both motos. Mudgett pulled out the fastest lap time of the day on the final lap of the second Open A moto with a 1:45.731 lap time. Ritter had the fastest times in the 250 A class and grabbed a 1-1 sweep for the overall win. Mudgett was close each moto, but it seemed the two stroke power out-did the four stroke 250 machine in the 250 A class.
The MAMA series heads to the Delmarva Motorsports Park in Easton, MD, on May 22-23, Middleford Speedway on June 5-6, and back to Delmarva Motorsports Park on June 26-27.
