Hello Race Fans!Wow, can you believe it’s June already? It seems like just last week I was complaining about winter, wondering if it was ever going to end. Then, all of a sudden, the kids are out of school, the swimming pools are open and we’re 4 months into the race season. Like they say, time flies when you’re having fun. June is going to be a big month here around the region. It all kicks off with the Yamaha All Star National at Doublin Gap. Then it’s Loretta’s regional time, the youth need to travel to Birch Creek in Danville, VA on June 12 & 13, then it’s back to Doublin Gap for the amateur regional on June 26 & 27. Remember these races are pre-qualify only, but head on out to cheer on your favorite racers. MRA would like to wish the best of luck to all riders shooting for the Nationals. Mid month you can head to Miles Mountain in Elkland, PA. They are the newest facility in District 6 and they are hosting their very first D-6 championship points event on June 20. Make sure you check this race out, it is a very cool track and well worth the ride. For all of you off road racers, Foot of the Mountain is promoting their first 2 day event of the year. It sounds like a great deal to me, travel once and earn points on 2 different days. They are also offering an evening Bar-B-Q on Saturday night (special start times apply, please check their schedule). Round 5 of the PA State Hare Scramble Series will be hosted at Jack Frost on June 20 with Round 6 being put on by the Back Mountain Enduro Riders on the 27th. Well, you can see there’s no reason to be bored this month. MRA caught up with Logan Ehrets at Sleepy Hollow in April of this year. Logan was your D-6 Champion in both the 50cc 4-6 oil and stock divisions last year, and has bumped up to the older 7-8 class this season. Logan grabbed the hole shot at Sleepy Hollows Pre- Easter race in moto one and competed to a fourth place finish on the day. Logan also grabbed a pair of holeshots at the Pagoda Motorcycle Club last month. He has been finishing consistently in the top 5 and it’s just a matter of time before he starts get-ting the checkers in the faster 7-8 division. Keep an eye on this young racer, I’ll bet there are more district championships in his future. Watch out next month, you just might be the next MRA Hotshot.

MRA caught up with Pagoda Club member Davey Disciullo at their second event of the year in Mid April, and let me tell you, catching this guy is not an easy feat. Davey has just turned 17 but you wouldn’t know it watching him ride against veteran Pro riders like Ty Wallace and David Ginolfi. An even bigger surprise is that this future MX star only started racing just 4 short years ago when he was 12 years old. It goes to show with hard work and determi-nation you can accomplish whatever you set out to do. Davey trained in Florida in the off season this past year and has set his sights on the Amateur Nationals at Loretta Lynns. He has also been talking with Team Green hoping to secure a spot on their team with an outstanding finish at the Nationals. Davey copped a 2nd and a 3rd place finish at Pagoda in April racing against the likes of Dustin Kendall and Ty Wallace. BIRDSBORO, PA, APRIL 18By Jim Bull

Once again, Rossini Racing Products sponsored Ty Wallace showed the Pro/Expert riders in AMA District Six that he is the man to beat in 2004. Close to 500 racers attended the Pagoda Motorcycle Clubs second race of the season sponsored by Leisure Equipment in Parker Ford, Pennsylvania in mid April.Wallace swept six motos on the day in three different divisions. In the first moto of the 250A class Wallace grabbed the lead on his Crossroad Powersports Honda CRF450 followed closely by Cumberland Kawasaki / PR2 Racings Dustin Kendall, RRP / Two Jacks Cycles Davey Discuillo then the Honda ride of Travis Harnish out of Quarryville, Pennsylvania. By lap two Wallace and Kendall had established themselves as the front runners with a lot of jockeying going on in the third, fourth and fifth positions behind them. Stephen Stella and David Ginolfi had worked past Harnish and were swapping spots when Stella crashed hard on the third lap, this allowed Ginolfi to put the pressure on Discullio and get by for third, Nathan Updkye rounded out the top five.In moto number two Ginolfi took the early lead followed by Wallace, Kendall, Discuillo and Harnish. Kendall, determined to get the win on the day charged hard and moved his Kawasaki into the front spot halfway thru the first lap followed by Wallace and Discuillo. Unfortunately Kendall lost his front end in a soft corner and took a clutch lever right to the neck. This allowed Wallace and Discuillo to move by and race to the checkers, with Wallace once again coming out on top for the overall.

The field lined up pretty much the same in the 125A division with Kawasaki mount Stephen Stella securing the lead in the first moto, followed by Ty Wallace, David Ginolfi and Travis Harnish. Davey Discullio who performed well in the 250A class was dead last coming out of the first turn. Stella was charging hard when he crashed allowing Wallace and Ginolfi to get by followed by Harnish. This set up a wheel to wheel battle between Discullio and Stella in the back of the pack. The two battled through the 15 rider field and by the last lap had

worked their way back to the fourth and fifth positions respectively. In moto number two it was the Yamaha of Ginolfi out front first with Wallace and Discuillo close behind. Discullio made a quick pass by Wallace on the uphill double but couldn’t make it stick. Wallace got by Ginolfi on lap four and rode to the win, Ginolfi and Discullio raced for the second spot to the end with Ginolfi coming out on top. Wallace also won the Dash For Cash and he swept both motos of the 25+ A division making him the man to beat in District 6 in 2004.

It was a beautiful, sunny day at Doublin Gap MX Park on Sunday, May 9th (Mothers Day) where lots of riders took advan-tage of the special offer the track had for their “Rider Appreciation Day” & Ride two classes and get the third class absolutely FREE! It was also 5’ Trophy Day at the track!

Most of the riders expressed their appreciation to Doublin Gap Staff and a big thank you for their continued dedication to the sport of motocross! The track was in excellent condition for some great racing and all who attended this race had a good time!

RoundFourofthePennsylvaniaStateHareScrambleSerieswasheldat the Foot Of The Mountain and was sponsored by CumberlandKawasakiandRoxysMotorcycles.Someoftheareasbestridersshoweduptodobattleonadaywhentheweathermanwaspredictingrainandseverestormsbyearlyafternoon.Fortunately the day turned out sunny with temps in the 70’s, perfect weatherforHareScrambleracing.The youth racers headed to the starting area for the first race of the day

with the supermini group on the front line. The American Suzuki / Rizzon Cycle /Boyesen sponsored pilot Chris Rizzongrabbedtheearlyleadand headed off into the woods section with the rest of the pack hot on his heels. Rizzonwasableto hold the lead

for the first few laps on this five plus mile

course turning lap times in the 11 minute range. Unfortunately a huge mud hole would take its toll on Rizzon and that allowed theCycleTech /MSR ride ofJasonSipetoslipbyandracefornotonlythesuperminiwin,buthisfirstoverallvictoryofhiscareer.In the 65cc division, series points leader Danny Bromley ridingoutofBromleysSuzukiwasabletosnagtheearlylead.Bromley ridingwith a broken finger on his throttlehand led the entire race until the last lap when he went down in a grassy corner. Bromley was able to remount and race for the win.DannysbrotherJoewasalsocompetingtodayintheyouthATVevent.LikebrotherDanny,Joeledtheentireeventonhis70ccPolarisuntilthelastlapjustafewcornersfromthecheckeredflagwhenachainproblem

ItwastheB&BYamaha/EnduroEngineering/Scottride of Craig Shenigo grabbing the holeshot fol-lowed closely byCumberlandKawaski /OffRoadCycle Supply ace Jed Haines. The two were com-peting in different classes but the overall winwasthere for the taking. Before the group could even get intothewoodssectionHaineshadestablishedhim-self as the leader and got on the gas hard.ThemantowatchonthisdaywastheCycleTech/Spectro Sponsored jockey Jerod Stoner. Stoner has recently moved up from the youth divisions and startedseverallinesbackinthe200BGroup.Justafew short laps into this race, Stoner had worked his way to third place overall and was turning lap times within seconds of the leaders. On the last lap of this twohourevent,StonerwasabletoslipbyShenigo

somewhere in the woodssectionbuthelost his front end com-ing back onto thegrass track. Shenigo was right there and took advantage of the younger Stoners mis-take. Haines was your overall and 200A win-ner with Shenigo sec-ond overall and the 250A victor. Stoner

Pennsylvania State Rd #3 Hurricane Hhills – 4/25/04 This round of the Pennsylvania State Harescramble series was held atHurricane Hills MX park in Clifford Pa. BP Promotions had a challenging and fun course laid out throughout the National style MX track and into the hills that sur-round the area.The forecast had been calling for rain in the afternoon, but themorning was surprisingly pleasant. As we traveled north heading to the track the skiesdarkenedandtherainbegantofall.Atthetrackracerswerepreppingfortheworst,tapingupbumpersandgatheringextraglovesandgoggles.Duringthebikerace the rain fell heavily for several minutes. As race time neared the rain slowed and racers quickly made there way to the starting area.

Despite the impending afternoon storm racers poured onto the track filling the starting area. The attendance at this round was great, our Open A class had 26 racers, a record for the class. GNCC champion Traci Cecco was lined up ready for themud.TracilinedupnexttofellowGNCCwomensclassracerStephVerkade.Bothwomenonthe“new”4strokepoweredmachines.TraciwiththeAlbaRacingYFZ450andStephanieonherEastCoastATVTRX450R.SeveraltopGNCCcon-tendersmadeitouttoplayinthemud.GNCC#2ChrisBorichwasn’tabouttomissout on the fun. Todd Rothermel GNCC #29 left his Polaris for a Yamaha and was anxioustoseehowitfelt.RobHertzcompetedonadirtbikeinthe4strokeBclassand then rushed to thestartof theATV race.Thestarting linestretched the thewidthoftheMXgateandbeyond.With26ofthestatesbestHarescrambleracersononelineitwassuretogetexciting.Astheflagdropped,themudbegantofly,after it was all sorted out, Chris Borich lead the 26 rider class into the woods with TraciCeccohotonhisheels.DanDestefanoandMarkCarman(PowerlineATV/ECATV)hadgreatstartsandtriedtopicktherewaythroughthetreesinpursuitoftheleaders.JarredMcClurehadamidpackstartbutitwasn’t longtillhestartedputting a good lap in and was gaining on the leaders. After the MX track the race enteredthewoodswherealargenumberofridersendedthereday.Themudwasslickandtherocksweren’thelping.Ceccoranintoproblemsshortlyafterenteringthe woods and handed second place to Dan Destefano. Destefano pushed hard to taketheleadfromBorichbutwounduptakingadirtbikelinefromearlierinthedaywhichlefthimstuck.Destefanodroppedbackafewspotsbutwasabletogetbackinto the race a short time late. Meanwhile local favorite Mark Walters and former

GNCC Pro Tyson Thomas had picked there way up the mountain side and through the piles of stuck quads. Walters pulled away from Thomas and set his sights on GNCC #2 Borich. As the laps wound down Walters had no idea that he was actually with in striking dis-tance of Borich. The pack battled there way over therocks and through the mud one last lap before thecheckers, and in the end it was Borich with the win. Mark Walters took a very respectable2ndplacefinishwith Tyson Thomas, Daniel Destefano and Lee Dickerson rounding out the top five.

This was certainly an exciting round of racing. The mud makes things hard for everyone, racers, pit crews, reporters and scorers. In future rounds I will have cov-eragefromalloftheclasses,sostopbyandletmeknowhowyoudid!!

PA State Rd.# 4 Foot of the Mountain – 5/2/04ThisroundofthePennsylvaniaStateHarescrambleChampionshipleadustotheFoot oftheMountaininNeelytonPa.FOMislocatedwestofHarrisburgoffofthePATurnpike.Thetrackissituatedjustasitsnamedescribesatthefootofamountain.FOMoffers a great variety of terrain with creek crossings, hillclimbs, rocks and a grasstrack.

LocalracersRandyBrandtandChadKirbyarealwaysexcitingtowatchintheVet.class.BrandthastakentheoverallwinseveraltimesafterstartingintheVetclass.TheVet.classstarts30secondsbehindtheOpenAclass.TheAclasswasoffthelinefirstwithChrisBorichandRobHertzoutfront.ToddRothermelandMarkCarmanwereinpursuit. Rothermel was aboard his Yamaha and Carman was riding his ECATV/Powerline250R.Theracersbattledthroughseveraldeepmudholesanduptherockyhillsforanhourandahalf.ThroughoutthattimeGNCC#45RobHertzsetablisteringpace trying to elude the #2 Yamaha of Borich. The two racers swapped lines and picked theirwaythroughthetreeslikewhitetaildeer.AtonepointHertzwasabletopulloutaslight lead after Borich caught a kicker and was sent over the bars. Chris quicklyremountedhisrideandgotbackintherace.Itdidn’ttakelongforhimtocatchbackupandhetookovertheleadquickly.IntheendBorichtookthewinwithRobHertzfinish-ingsecond,hisbestfinishoftheseriessofar.ToddRothermelheldonforthirdplace.Mark Carman was having a great day until a loose skid plate forced him to pit. After the skidplatewasremovedhewasbackinactionbuthadlostseveralpositions.CarmanfinishedfifthwithLeeDickersongrabbingthefourthspot.That’stwogreatfinishesina

row for Dickerson in this series. IntheVetclassChadKirbywasofftoagreatstartbutRandyBrandtstolethespot light and quickly took over the lead. Brandt rocketed his Cannondale to the front ofthepackandhadhissightsetoncatchtheAclassleaders.Kirbywasn’tabouttoletthe Cannondale walk away with out a fight. Chad charged to within a few seconds of Randy and waited for a chance to make his move. On lap four after nearly 45 minutes of intense racing the Cannondale of Randy Brandt had enough. The rear suspension letlooseandlefthimgroundedonthesideofthetrail.ThisgavetheleadtoKirbyandhewentontotakethewininthehighlycompetitiveVet.class. TheCclasshadagreatbattleforthewingoingbetweenRonDernoskiandMarlinKurtz.After thingsweresortedouton the first lap,Marlin kurtz foundhimselfleadingtheclass.Withthe intensemudholesandrockyhillclimbsonthetrack,Kurtzwasabletopulloutahealthyleadontheclass.Heheldontothatleadforseverallaps,while C&D Racing backed Ron “Derno” Dernoski clicked seconds off of that lead.Dernoskihadgottenahorriblestartandwaslefttobattlehiswaybackfromlast.Lapafter lap Derno gained on Kurtz and widdled what was a one minute lead down toonlyafewseconds.With2lapstogoDernoputhisC&DRacingCannondalerightwereitneededtobe.Kurtzwentlowtogetarunonahillclimbandleftthedooropenfor Derno to take the lead. Once in front Dernoski walked away with a well deserved win,hereallyhadtoworkforthisone!

Nooneeversaiditwasfun,butcrashingisapartofthesport.Believeitor not when I was a kid I really enjoyed crashing as long as I did not get hurt. I always raced with that “win or crash trying” approach. I had a good coachnamedRobertEugsterwhoalwaystoldmetoslowdowntogofast.I listened but didn’t fully understand. Now I knowwhat hewas talkingabout.Justbecauseyoublowbyguysliketheyarestandingstill,itdoesn’tmatter when you are picking yourself up off of the ground two laps later. Thatdoesn’tmeanthatyouwillnotcrasheverynowandthen.Toridebet-ter you have to test yourself, really push yourself to the limit. You also have tobepreparedifyoucrash–wearthepropergear.Ifyourhitisahardonethen make sure you get properly checked out. You don’t want an injury goinguntreated.Ihatehospitalsasmuchasthenextguybutsometimesthatisthebestplaceforyou.Justremember,ifpossible,changeoutofyourgear.ERnurseslovetousethose really sharp scissors to cut through your pants, jersey, and even your boots!Notonlyareyoustuckinthehospitaloronyourcouch,whichsomepeople think is the only safe thing you should ride. You also have to hear all the “Why are you still doing this?” guestions. You can’t get around like you want and most of all you are sidelined from the sport. Once you have had a professional assess your injuries it is time for recov-eryandrehabilitation.Talktoyourdoctorandmakesureheunderstandsyou want to do what is necessary for a speedy recovery. As soon as you can,getbacktotrainingandevenracingagain.Thebestthingtodoisgoto a sports medicine medical group. They will really help you out. So many thingshavechanged.Nomorelyingaroundforamonthbeforeyoustartdoing things again. A good sports medicine group will really push you and let you know when it is safe to ride again. They know that you want to get backintoyoursport.I am fortunate enough to work with a great group, the Allentown Sports Medicine and Human Performance Center. They really know their stuff. I know from experience. I crashed six weeks ago. I spent a week in ICU with acollapsedlung,aseparatedshoulder,andsixbrokenribsaninchfrommyspine.IstartedrehabandcardioworkassoonasIcouldtakethepainandmylungwasbackupandworking.Ilistenedtomydoctorsandtherehabpeoplefollowedtheirprogramandwillbebackridingintwomoreweeks. Patience is very important and the older I get the more I realize that. You havetogiveyourbodytimetohealbutalsoexercisetokeepitstrong.Theolder you get the longer it takes to heal. Unless you are racing for a living itpaystowaituntilyouarehealedbeforeyoujumpbackon.Thisiscom-ing from someone who raced as a kid in the Maryland State Championships with fifty four stitches in my inner thigh. A result from a crash I had at Boiling Springs that same season. I just took a piece of one inch foam and wrappedducttapearoundit.(Selfprescribedmedicaladvice!)Anexam-pleofthesaying“Oldenoughtoknowbetterbuttooyoungtocare.”Thatpretty much says it all. I had worked so hard that season that nothing was goingtostopme.Luckilyinmycaseitturnedoutok-Iwonthechampion-ship on my 490 Maico in the open class. steady chompin’ down on him for 2nd and 2nd overall, #100 Chris Curlett stepped up to the plate ready to play 3rd & 4th overall, #568 The Ripper 4th and 5th overall. In a season that has had more rainouts than races, Trail-Way Speedway almost pulled off its only night race of the season. Rains hit about halfway through the finals, and made the track too slick after a few minutes. After practi-cally owning the 85 (12-15) class two years ago, R. J. Hart had trouble cracking the top five last season. Things looked about the same this season, with a third place finish in one of the two heats. But when the greenlight came on at the start of the 600 B final, Hart put his Fredericktown Yamaha sponsored YZF-450 in front of Jonathan Reid, Vince Bower, Cory Texter and Henry Mangers. For an evening race, the track kept an unusually narrow groove, making passing some-what difficult. The order stayed the same until about two laps left, when Reid slid out, unhurt in the second turn, while Texter moved up to pressure Bower for second, completing the pass coming off the final turn. Jim Chapman took the 40 + lead from Lowell Wherley, Joe Dohm, and Mike Keane, but Wherley took the lead by the end of the opening lap and pulled away. Dohm drifted back on his back up Yamaha after trashing his Rotax in one of the heats. Shawn Baer put his Battlefield H-D/Zechman’s Cycle sponsored Yamaha in front of Chris Klinefelter, Bryan Douglas and Jason Isennock at the start of the 450 Sportsman. Klinefelter stayed with Baer in the early laps, but Baer pulled just a few lengths out by the halfway point. The last race to be completed before the rains hit in force was the 125 B. Shayna Texter grabbed the lead from Brandon Robinson and Jordan Harris. Robinson took the lead before the end of the opening lap,

with Harris taking second two laps later. Texter slid down in turn two at the half-way mark while pres-suring Harris. Robinson also was awarded the 250 B win by virture of his

quicker heat time over Harris. Todd Kendig topped Jim Hollister in the 30 + when Hollister’s heat was red flagged two laps from the end and Kendig’s completed its six laps. Other winners were Bryan Douglas in the Open A, with Dave Smith top-ping the 500 2 Valve. Roy Miller topped Jason Isennock for the 750 final with Douglas taking the Open sportsman. Texter took the 85 (12-15) division with Tyler Kidwell winning the 85 (7-11) class.

In a modern dirt bike the most prevalent material is by far Aluminium and with the advent of the four stroke the areas in which is being used are grow-ing. Why aluminium you ask? There are many advantages to using aluminium in the construction of any motorcycle the main one being weight benefits, aluminium is about one third the weight of steel. In certain components this weight savings increases the performance aspects. One example is our wheels, the rims, sprockets, hubs, spoke nipples and even the rim locks are all constructed in aluminium. To improve suspension performance it is vitally important to keep the unsprung weight to a minimum. The lighter the wheel assembly the better your suspension will perform, hence the reason the factory bikes use magnesium hubs, lighter still but not quite as strong as aluminium. Before I continue let me explain unsprung weight.

Unsprung weight is defined as "any component or part thereof not supported by the suspension." These components include the entire wheels and axles, rear sprocket, lower fork tubes and roughly half the swingarm and chain. If you could magically make these components weigh nothing your suspension sag measurements would not change as your suspension is not supporting these parts. Is that clear? Then lets move on.

Aluminium is not the same material throughout your bike. Our bikes are usually made up of a few different alloys. I'm sure everyone has seen the designations 6061 and 7075. These are codes created by the Aluminium Manufactureres association back in the fifties. The first number classifies the element that is used in the aluminium to alloy it or increase its strength and durability. The 6 in 6061 stands for Silicon and Magnesium and the 7 in 7075 stands for Zinc. 6061 is the most common alloy as it is the cheapest and most readily available, it is easily machined and welded and has good corrosion resistance. It's yield strength (resistance to deformation) is around 40,000 psi and it's Tensile strength (resistance to breaking) is around 45,000 psi. Both are very good numbers but they pale in comparison to 7075. 7075 is the king of strength in aluminium alloys, actually its stronger than all but the highest strength heat treated steels. 7075 has a yield strength of 73,000 psi and a tensile strength of 83,000 psi but it is much more expensive than 6061 and more difficult to weld.

Two other terms we are all familiar with is cast and forged. Cast parts are made from a molten aluminium poured into molds and cooled then finish machined, pistons and engine cases, cylinders and heads are good examples of this. Forgings are made by heating an aluminum slug until it is soft and then beating it into shape using expensive and elaborate tooling and then finish machined. Forged components are usually stronger than their cast counterparts so in areas where we need additional strength, forgings may be used. An example of forged parts are some aftermarket pistons, some frame and swingarm sub-assemblies and levers and perches.

A lot of aftermarket goodies are advertised as machined from billet, this means they start with a block of aluminium and machine away what they don't want until they have a finished part, this usually results in an expensive part like a clutch basket or a set of triple clamps and a lot of wasted material on the shop floor. Someone once joked that a machinists job is to turn one large piece into a lot of small pieces, there is a lot of truth in that.

A lot of aftermarket aluminium parts come in fancy colours, this process is called Anodizing. It is an electrical process hence the "Anode" in conjunction with some chemicals that yields a change in the surface of the aluminium. Colored anodizing is a very thin layer that yields resistance to corrosion a pretty part and not much else. Hard Anodizing on the other hand yields a layer a couple of thousandths of an inch thick that resists wear, commonly this is found inside shock bodies and upper fork legs.

In the first paragraph I mentioned four strokes because in an effort to reduce their weight to two stroke levels the factories are utilizing aluminium more and more to save a couple of grams here and a couple there. In the forks for instance the back up washer behind the fork seal is now aluminium and the rebound rod which was at first a steel tube and then an aluminium rod is now an aluminium tube, I'd need an Apothecarys scale to measure that weight sav-ing. One last fact about the use of aluminium that I would like to pass along in closing is that aluminium was adopted for use in road race and sport bike frames not for it's weight savings because it actually weighs the same as a steel frame but because for the same weight they could utilize more material and build a stiffer frame.

Obviously in todays race bikes every ounce counts and aluminium is keeping us competitive.?????

Rausch Creek, what a great place to host a

GNCC race. GNCC stands for Grand National Cross Country, it’s the most prestigious off road racing series in the good ole U.S. of A.

1991 National Enduro Champion Jeff Russell is the trail boss for the GNCC series, he’s the guy who builds

the course for the toughest racers in the country. Rumor around the pits had it that Russell loves to come to Rausch Creek, here he has every terrain imaginable to work with. From rocks and tree roots, to hill climbs and flat out top end fire roads, it gives Russell the opportunity to build one of the tough-

est courses on the circuit. This years course ranged from around 4.5 miles for the youth racers up to around 12 miles for the ATV and motorcycles and had elevations up to 1600 ft. above sea level.

In the pro motorcycle class, Am-Pro Yamaha’s Jason Raines earned his 2nd victory of the year which proved to be a battle between the top five

riders right up to the last lap of the three hour race. Raines edged out last years

GNCC Series Champion, Barry Hawk by just 38 seconds.

Also in the afternoon bike race, 15 year old Jerod Stoner riding out of

Cycle Tech in Lewisberry, PA had a stellar day. Stoner, racing in the 200 B class was 5th coming off the line and by mid way through the first lap had worked himself into the lead position. Stoner developed a flat front tire about half way

through the race on the rocky Rausch Creek course, but he kept the hammer down and sailed to a 1st in class. Stoner was your top B class finisher on the day and is the only other rider to beat Andrew Matusek in the 200 B division to date in 2004. Other notable finishes include the father and son team of Keith and Ryan Rodgers from Dover, PA. Keith pulled the holeshot in the Senior A division and raced to a 3rd in class. Son Ryan, racing in the 250 A class took a 3rd place finish as well and a 14th overall against the best riders in the nation. B & B Yamaha racer, Craig Shenigo pulled down a 4th in the Vet A class. The

youth racers ran on Saturday afternoon and had about a 15 minute down pour to deal with during their race. It was actu-ally a much needed break to

the dust that had been flying all day long. Kawasaki pilot Nathan Saving from Logan, OH was your overall victor with Chris Rizzon from Hillsborough, NJ putting in an 8th place finish in his first ever GNCC race and Tyler Klinger from Williamstown, PA grabbed a 10th overall with a 1st place win in the Mini Sr. division. Other top fin-ishes in the

youth classes included, Dale ‘ B u g s y ’ Wa k e f i e l d , with a 3rd in Mini Jr. A n d r e w

Delong also took a 3rd in the Big Wheel 12-13 group, and in the 65cc 7-9 class

# 216 will Cashion from Marietta, SC won the overall AM race with less

than a 1 second advantage

Shane Hufford took 2nd with Troy Desimone finishing a strong 5th. In the Pro ATV race Yamaha pilot Bill Ballance was back on top again. Ballance has been the man to beat and is chasing his 5th GNCC title this year. He beat PA native, Matt Smiley who finished 2nd with another PA guy, James Wahl rounding out the top 3. In the morning ATV race quite a few riders from around the region fin-ished in top 20 positions. Including Harlen Foley of exriders.com and local hare scramble favorite, Jarrod McClure riding out of Bowers Motorcycle
