CURRICULUM VITAE SERVICE RECORD: EDUCATION 1998
Appointed member of Regional Task Team, set up to draft a uniform Regional Assessment Policy in
P.Science and General Science for grade 8-11. First workshop held on 23 April. Organised a joint staff/SGB workshop, the theme of which was: The Role and
Function of the School Governing Body and the staff: in July. As a matric Senior Marker, I did a presentation on the 1997 Physical Science PII
HG Examination paper, to a gathering of science teachers of the Western Region: 21 August. Organised with the NSC-EP very successful 3-day sports Leader course for 20
educators and 5 pupils (as part of the NSC Protea Mmuso Development Program) 10/14/15 September. RE appointed Senior Marker for Std 10 P.Science PII HG paper-1998. Appointed Matric Examiner for Std 10 Physical Science PII (Chemistry) SG paper
for the period November 1999-March 2001.1 had to set the Chemistry (SG) paper for four (4)
matric exams. As member of Regional Task Team, attended a 2nd Regional Assessment
workshop for Physical Science (Grade 6-11) 12th October. Elected vice chairman for the SADTU site-1998 Observer status onto Woolhope School Governing Body.
1997 Appointed matric marker in the Supplementary Exam 1997, for
Physical Science P II-SG. Appointed Senior Matric marker in the 1997 final matric exam-in
Physical Science PII SG. Represented Woolhope as a 2 day Outcomes Based Education (QBE)
facilitator training workshop- Western Region 14/15 May. Co-organized and presented a 4-day QBE workshop for Woolhope Staff
26/27/29/31 May. Appointed Coordinator for he P.E West District Office's Matric Winter
School. Working with Department Officials, I Coordinated and oversaw a highly successful
program for 300 matric pupils in various subjects 30 June to 4July. Appointed to serve as a Book Evaiuator (P.E West) in Physical Science
and General Science, for the Senior and Junior Secondary Phases. Attended a seminar on Life Ski! s: on understanding Life Skills and
how to teach a life Skills lesson
1996
As a member of the Provincial Physical Science Subject Committee served on a panel that
"Standardized the Provincial Physical Science Stock Catalogue"-organized by Department of
Education, Culture and Sport- Directorate of Provisioning. Attended a workshop on Authentic Assessment arranged by
Woolhope Secondary. Appointed matric marker for Physical Science Regional paper
II SG: November 1996. Member of Physical Science Regional Interim Curriculum Unit
(Western Region). Member of Physical Science Provincial Subject Committee. Appointed Deputy Principal- Woolhope Secondary.

Elected chairperson of Physical Science Subject Committee(P.E West District)
Elected onto Western Region Physical Science Subject Committee.
Elected onto Provincial Physical Science subject Committee. Served on Provincial Task Team that Provincialized the Physical
Science Syllabi for grades 10-12. Served on Provincial Task Team that Developed a Fast Track
Program for Std 10's (Physical Science). Attended Western Region Science Conference entitled
"Education for Future"- to develop a broad vision for the teaching of science in the future.
Appointed acting deputy principal-Woolhope High School.
OTHER
Senior Physical Science/Biology teacher for the last 18 years and past Head of Department in science
for 11 years (including 2 years in acting capacity) Sub-Examiner Physical Science PII HG- Ex House of Delegates. Member of Malabar Education Crisis Committee. Served on Woolhope Parent-Teacher-Student Association. Participated in an Industrial Study of P.E, organised by the S.A
Chemical Foundation-1990. Attended a seminar/workshop organised by the RADMASTE
Centre, a research unit based at WITS University, It was part of the Phoenix Program, which involved
the classroom evaluation of Resource Materials in 1993.
As a member of the SAATPS (P.E) I have attended lectures/seminars on inter-alia, analysis of Std 10
Physical Science papers, Assessment of Provincial Work in Grades 10-12. Questioning Techniques in
the classroom, formulating lesson objectives etc. Organiser of the National Science Olympiad Examinations at Woolhope
Secondary- a number of pupils made the top 50 in this olympaid, qualifying for the Annual Science week
held at University of Durban Westville. Many of my past Std 10 students won the P.E Technikon Science Awards. One
student (Miss N. Gardee) was selected by the U.S Information services to attend a Science

On joining the profession in 1981, joined the teachers association of South Africa (TASA)
I served TASA in various official capacities viz: Secretary: TASA (E.Cape) Brance : 1984-1986 Chairman: TASA (E.Cape) Branch : 1986-1992 Vice-chairman:TASA (Cape Region Coucil) : 1990-1992 National delegate, representing the E.Cape Branch, to TASA National
Council: 1984-1992 Represented the TASA (E.Cape) Branch at Teachers Unity Talks,
both at Regional and National Level, that eventually led to the launch of the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) in 1990.
Attended the launch of SADTU in Johannesburg. 4. Elected vice-chairperson at Woolhope Secondary SADTU site:

tournaments: 15-20 November 1994-Zone 6 senior Nations Champs in Gaberone Results-SA men won the title SA ladies were runner up 1-3 March 1995- All Africa Games Qualifiers in Harare: Results-Both SA men and women won their qualifiers Both teams now qualify for the All-African games in Zimbabwe. In addition
the SA gent teams have qualified for the 10th African Nations Championships to be held in. To be held in this year.

1997 re-elected President of EPVU on the 6th consecutive term. In my capacity of NSC executive (Sport Pioneers) attended
the following workshops/meetings. Sport Pioneers Provincial Meeting in East London 14 February. Sport Pioneer Provincial Meeting at Kei Mouth on 26-28
February. As an NSC Executive (E.P) attending a number of meetings of
