•A college professor asked - What’s your credibility to write a book?•A veteran trainer inquired - Are you not too young in the training industry to come out with a book?•A friend thought aloud - Do you think you are ready enough to do this? •A well-wisher suggested - Why don’t you bring out 100 books first and then look at how people react?•A smart ass poked in jest - Who will you ask for the “forward” for the book? •I asked myself - How are you going to spread the message and also sell the books?

Some questions asked when I proposed writing Moving Ahead

What I did -

•Wrote the book nevertheless•Made a mistake. Was embarrassed to show the copy to anyone, so self edited•Was chicken enough to look out for a publisher for “fear of rejection”•Self published the book and it burnt my pocket quite a bit•Had to sell the book to recover the cost.•Sold the book - left right and centre. Some amazing friends also helped me in this•Made the ROI and some profits too•Gave out some as complimentary too

Lessons learnt -

•Do not let people decide your dreams. Do what you strongly believe•Be proud and excited about what you create. Be an evangelist!•Be smarter the next time•Watch out that the errors are not repeated•Understand: For every 5 people who want you “not” to succeed, there are 10 who are praying for you to succeed• Thank all of them and remind people that if you believe it is possible, it is!
