The game ‘Pacman’ was released in 1980 and is considered to be one of the most classic games ever made. Pacman really helps to show how games have evolved over the years.

What Motion Capture can’t do…

If you want your game to look cartoony then you should not use motion capture, this is because motion capture is for animations to look like cartoons but instead digital and realistic versions of humans and objects. If you need realistic motion then there are a number of things that motion capture can’t capture such as swimming, suffering a serious injury or an imaginary creature. Motion capture is not easy to use and you would need to work around it’s faults to effectively put the technology together.

Animals play an important part in Video games and usually are usedto take the main character to Different locations at a fast pace.

Animals play a big part in games such as Kinectimals and Red Dead Redemption.

These are various skeletons that have been created

from captured motion.

Motion Capture is used to capture Animals movements and to keep theRealistic movement of the animals.

Technical Challenges

When the animals are used as the motion capture actor there are a lot more challenges, for example they have to get the animal to perform when needed or remaining still can be difficult and the sensors are often shaken off there bodies.

Another technical challenge is the actors body and facial structure can be different to the animated character. It is the animators job to bring the animated characters to life and to make sure that the actors look effective when they are performed by the animated characters.

Something that has always been a challenge is improving the detail, realism and quality of facial animation. There aim with facial animations is to make it look as realistic as possible to real human facial expressions. Even though facial capture can pick up whenever someone smiles, it is the animator's job to make it a bashful or sarcastic smile.
