    Foreword

The saying "A picture is worth a 1000 words" refers to the thought

that complex stories can be depicted with just a single still image, or

that an image might be more influential than a substantial amount

of text. It likewise aptly characterizes the goals of visualization

where large amounts of data must be absorbed fast. A great

inspirational movie will build in anticipation of elemental success

for the star that seems to go through some sort of personal hell early

in the film. When that success arrives, the audience will frequently

feel like rising and cheering. We all know how simple it would be for

the star to just say "what's the use?" and then quit. It takes personal

fortitude to keep going. Many of us don't have it. So, once we see itwe cheer.

Individuals love a winner, but individuals really love the man or

woman who defeats hardship and triumphs. When you walk out of a

movie with that type of conclusion you feel like all is well with the

world. It's like justice has been served on our hero and it was fun to

see. Good for him, good for her, good for them.

Even though the triumph on the screen isn't ours, we like how it

affects the star of the show. There's some personal satisfaction we

take from the goodness we discover. How do you feel when your

team wins the big game? We know that the victory doesn't rank up

there with world peace but the excitement is genuine. Why is that?

Well, our team won and we were a part of it. We sweat bullets till the

win is guaranteed. We sweat life till the film star comes up a winner.

Whew! You need to view these movies to have that same feeling. I'm

going to personally insist that you see all of these pictures that I'll

    review for you.

    Rockys Story Inspires

Rocky now lives back in the skids of Philadelphia (2008) but manages

a beneficial life including running his restaurant called Adrian's,helping an grownup Little Marie and her son Steps, and saying hello

at any chance to his alienated son Robert. After seeing a virtual fight

of Rocky in his heyday vs. heavyweight champion Mason "the Line"

Dixon, Rocky's concern in fighting flickers again and he plans to fight

in local clubs. Mason Dixon and his managers have another agenda

though, with a plan to pit Rocky vs. Mason in the real world for a

publicity act to regain Mason's lost regard from his fans. At lastagreeing to Mason Dixon's proposal, Rocky grooms to step in the ring

    for one last time.

A widower of a lot of years now Rocky has fallen under a routine of

retrospection to his past. A coincidental meeting, with a girl that's

now all grown up, gets him back on track. Rocky forever wanting to

help those that he cares about lends a hand for her and her son.

Rocky now owns a little restaurant in the heart of Philly, he finds

himself narrating stories to those that ask about previous fights and

taking pics with his fans. Paulie, his wife's brother shows him an

ESPN scoop about a virtual fight between reigning undefeated heavy

weight champ of the world Mason "The Line" Dixon. The virtual bout

fascinates everybody with Rocky "the Italian Stallion" as the winner.

Rocky feels like he needs to come back into the ring not for a title

shot, but for some local fights that will fulfill his love of the game.

When Rocky is approached by Dixon's managers Rocky can't turn the

semi charity event down. After linking up with his son, Rocky, Duke

(his former trainer), Paulie, and Rocky Jr. they get to work training

the still in shape former two time heavy weight champion of the

world. You'll be inspired by the heart vs. skill bout of 10 amazing

    rounds.

This movie is inspiring because of determination of the underdog, you

don't have to be a pro and start out distinguished, sheer drive and

determination can help you become what you want to be even when

other people have an advantage over you.

This series of movies is a story of an older washed up boxer, who's a

nobody, but given a shot at a title and works hard utilizingunorthodox training because he's too poor to afford "championship"

training. He utilizes his determination to prove he can win over all the

    odds.

These movies show us that nothing is impossible and that anything

can be achieved if we work hard enough for it. Once you see the

movies you will realize that there is an 'Eye of the Tiger' in us all.

This series of movies is actually based on a true person: When a

young, impressionable and unknown Philadelphia resident --

Sylvester Stallone -- saw the Wepner/Ali fight he was straight off

inspired to write the blockbuster movie screenplay, Rocky. It became

one of the 20th Century's biggest box office hits. Like piston-fists of

steal, Hollywood blasted out Rocky I, Rocky 2, Rocky 3, Rocky 4,

Rocky 5...knockout! Indeed the world-famous Rocky Balboa character

was, in reality, based on Chuck Wepner.

Billy Sunday (Deniro) In the movie Men of Honor.

    Honor Inspires

Carl Brashear is a man attempting to become the first African

    American Navy diver.

    The story in the final analysis revolves around two "men of honor";

their kinship, their individual and joint failures and victories. Carl

Brashear is determined to be the first African American Navy Diver in

a time where racial discrimination is strife. Leslie Sunday is his

envenomed trainer, determined to see him fail. Fate, challenges and

conditions eventually draw these two men together in a tale of

turbulence and at long last victory.

Carl Brashear, born in 1931 to sharecroppers, signs up with the Navy

and, after watching the heroics of Billy Sunday, the Caucasian son of a

sharecropper, determines to get to be the Navy's first African-

American diver. At the Bayonne, N.J., divers' training camp, Sunday

is his teacher, and Brasher must prevail over hazing verging on the

murderous. With Sunday and the camp's commanding officer deadset against Brashear's graduating, his physical skills and steely

purpose, which he got from his father, see him through and through.

Carl and Billy's paths cross again when each needs rehabilitation one

from a trauma, the other from resentment. Their wives look on with

    awe and thwarting.

The final scenes of the movie are Carl stands up in the fresh diving

suit after may tribulations, and-with obvious eager discomfort- takes

a few clumsy steps forward. Everybody assumes that his prosthetic

leg will snap (which he got from an earlier diving accident), but

Sunday steps forward and starts shouting orders at Carl (identical to

their first session at diving school years before). Carl struggles, but

continues moving forward till he has reached the 12th step.

Captain Hanks, realizing that no more can be done, declares that the

Navy will be reinstating Carl Brashear to full diving duty.

Carl and Sunday salute each other, and then meet with their wives as

a celebration of this crucial triumph.

Credits at the end reveals that Carl Braschear was the first African-

American amputee to assume Navy diving duty, and those 2 years

after his reinstatement Carl was promoted to Master Chief. Carl wentforward in his naval career for another 9 years before finally taking

    retirement.

End-to-end in the movie he faces confrontation from those who dont

want him to come through, including Sunday. With only a 7th grade

education and finally a prosthetic leg, Brashear is driven to become

the first African American Navy Diver.

With a marvelous and moving closing scene, Men of Honor delivers

the message that regardless the obstacle, success is possible.

    Determination Inspires

Rudy- among the most inspiring sports movies of all time, the 1993

film Rudy delivers a tale of the undersized, under talented, Daniel

Rudy Ruettiger who has ambitions of playing college football for the

Norte Dame Fighting Irish in spite of his fathers wishes.

Rudy Ruettiger (Sean Aston) grows up in a Catholic, blue-collar

family that loves Notre Dame Football. He doesn't have the grades,

the size or the talent to get into his beloved school so he follows his

brothers and father into work at the steel plant.

After his twenty-second birthday his dearest friend Pete (Christopher

Reed) who forever believed in him dies in an accident. Rudy then

recognizes that it's now or never to follow his womb-to-tomb dream

to play for the Fighting Irish. In spite of fear of failure from his father

(Ned Beatty) and girlfriend (Lily Taylor) he leaves to follow up on his

    goal.

Showing up isn't enough to get him into the university, so with the

encouragement of a priest (Robert Prosky), he enrolls in Holy Cross

Junior College. There he gets help from a tutor (Jon Favreau) who

aids him in dealing with his reading impairment and at long last get

good grades. He works on the maintenance crew (Charles S. Dutton).

At last, Rudy gets accepted and upon transferring in to the school, he

gets a chance as a "tackling dummy" for the team for 2 years.

Encouraged by his perseverance and spunk, Rudy inspires the team

and is allowed to dress for one game by the coach (Jason Miller),

where he's triumphantly carried off the field by his fellow teammates.

The story is based on the life of Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger.

Because of his drive and desire, Rudy earns a spot on the team and

wins the loyalty of his teammates. With Rudy being only 56 and 165

pounds, he has a very slim chance of even making the squad. The

film teaches that will and determination can make up for a deficiency

    of talent and stature.

The culmination of the movie is when Rudy makes a sack in the last

play of the game against Georgia Tech and is carried off the field by

    his teammates.anything is possible!

    Determination And Courage

This movie that's based on a novel by the same name tells the story of

a man who has an intelligence quotient of 75 and unknowingly lives a

highly influential and successful life. In spite of having leg braces as a

child and his obvious mental incapacities, Forrests mother promises

him that life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what youre

    gonna get.

With that advice, Forrest carries on to win the Congressional Medal of

Honor, become a world famous ping-pong champion, own of a highly

successful shrimp fishing company, and run across the country in 3

years; all of this with a seemingly ignorant awareness to the

grandness of his accomplishments. The movie likewise touches on

the dilemma of whether the events in life are because of preset fate or

if all of life is a series of unintentional occurrences. This awe-

inspiring inspirational story of triumph earned 677 million dollars

    worldwide.

Forrest Gump is a simple-minded man with little brain activity but

fine intentions. He battles through childhood with his best and only

friend Jenny. His 'mama' teaches him the ways of life and leaves him

significant historic events - in each case, far exceeding what anybody

    Perseverance

The Pursuit of Happyness- Inspired by the true life story of Chris

Gardner. The Pursuit of Happyness is among the most inspiring

movies in recent years. A single man (Will Smith) bringing up his

young son(Jaden Smith) is reduced to living in train station

bathrooms and homeless shelters while attempting to sell overpriced

medical equipment to doctors and landing the one available

employment position with the brokerage firm Dean Witter Reynolds.

In 1981, in San Francisco, the smart salesman and family man Chris

Gardner places the family savings in Osteo National bone-density

scanners, an apparatus doubly as expensive as an x-ray machine but

with a somewhat clearer image. This white elephant financially

breaks the family, bringing difficulties to his relationship with his

wife Linda, who leaves him and moves to New York City where she

has taken a job in a pizza shop. Their son Christopher stays with Chris

because he and his wife both know that he will be able to take better

    care of him.

Without income or a wife, but committed to his son, Chris sees a

opportunity to fight for a stockbroker internship position at Dean

Witter, offering a brighter career at the end of a six-month unpaid

training period. During that time period, Chris goes through a lot of

    adversity personally and professionally.

When he thinks he's "stable," he finds that he's lost $600 when the

government takes the last bit of money in his bank account for taxes.

He's rendered homeless because he can't pay his rent. He's forced to

stay in a bathroom at a train station and must scramble from work

daily to the Glide Memorial United Methodist Church, which provides

shelter to the homeless. He must leave work daily so that he's there by

5 in the evening along with his son so to be guaranteed of a place to

sleep. He's seen carrying his suitcase to work because he doesn't have

a home. At work, there are 19 other candidates for the one position.

One day, he's called into an office and in it were the heads of Dean

Witter. They tell him that he has been a first-class trainee and that

tomorrow will be his 1st day as a broker. Chris struggles to suppress

tears. Outside he begins to cry as the busy individuals of San

Francisco walk past him. He hurries to his son's daycare, squeezing

him and knowing that everything is going to be o.k.

The concluding scene shows Chris walking with his son down a street.

His son is telling him a joke, when a man in a suit walks by. Chris

looks backward as the man proceeds on. The man in the suit is none

other than the real Chris Gardner.

In spite of the overwhelming trials he had to endure Chris is

determined to survive and wins the sole employment position. Thismovie, Will Smiths 6 consecutive #1 opening, brought in 27 million

    Passion Inspires

A dramatically inspiring movie about bravery and freedom,

Braveheart takes the viewer back to 1300s and introduces them to thelegendary Scotsman named William Wallace (Mel Gibson). After his

childhood love interest Murron is killed by an English Sheriff,

Wallace strikes back and finally starts a revolution against the English

    people.

William Wallace is a Scottish rebel who leads a rebellion against the

cruel English ruler Edward the Longshanks, who wishes to inherit the

crown of Scotland for himself. When he was a young boy, William

Wallace's father and brother, along with a lot of others, lost their lives

attempting to free Scotland. Once he loses another of his loved ones,

William Wallace starts his long quest to make Scotland free once and

for all, along with the assistance of Robert the Bruce.

William Wallace is both a bright military strategist and courageous

warrior. Although the William Wallace character in the movie reallyexisted, the movie is based on an epic poem called Sir William

    Wallace, Knight of Elderslie.

The cry for freedom that Wallace brings in at the end of the movie

right before his death is potently influential.

Braveheart inspiration in real life: A young boy whose mother has MS

led 100s of supporters to the Scottish Parliament to crusade for free

vitamin D to help fight the illness. 14 year old Ryan McLaughlin says

young children and pregnant women should be given free vitamin D

    suggested a link.

Ryan said he was inspired by Braveheart. He was joined by about two

hundred supporters, many of them youngsters, in a march down

Before putting his case to Holyrood's petitions committee, he said:

"I'm going to parliament to try to give them my insight into how my

family's been affected and that vitamin D is the answer, in my

    opinion, to get through this."

William Wallace's speech in Braveheart about having "just one

chance" to make a difference gave him inspiration, he said.

    Overcoming Obstacles

Ray-In a spookily accurate portal of Ray Charles, Jamie Foxx forks

out a performance of a lifetime in the movie Ray. Ray Charles loses

his eye sight as a child but someway manages to learn to play the

piano and elevated himself into one of the most beloved rhythm and

    blues artist in the world.

In addition to Rays sightlessness, he likewise contends with racism

and a drug addiction to heroin. Just one of those obstructions are

adequate to keep most individuals from success but Ray takes what

his mother teaches him about making your own way in this world to

    slingshot him to accomplishment.

Ray Charles has the differentiation of being both a national treasure

and an international phenomenon. By the early 1960's Ray Charles

had achieved his dream. He'd come of age musically. He'd got in to

Carnegie Hall. The hit records "Georgia," "Born to Lose" in turn kept

rising to the top of the charts.

He'd made his 1st victorious European concert tour in 1960 (a feat

which, except for 1965, he's duplicated at least once a year ever since).

He had taken literally every form of popular music and pushed

through its boundaries with such amazing accomplishments as the

LP's "Genius Plus Soul Equals Jazz" and "Modern Sounds in Country

& Western." Rhythm & blues (or "race music" as it had been named)

became universally honorable through his efforts.

Jazz found a mainstream audience it had never before enjoyed. And

country & western music started to chart an unforeseen course to

general acceptance, then universal popularity. And along the way Ray

Charles was implemental in the design of rock & roll.

Born in a poor African American town in central Florida, Ray Charles

went blind at the age of seven. With the steadfast support of his

determined single mother, he acquired the fierce resolve, wit and

incredible talent that would finally enable him to overcome not only

racial discrimination and the cruel biases against the blind, but

likewise discover his own sound which inspired American popular

    music.

Nonetheless, as Ray's unprecedented fame developed, so did hisweakness for drugs and women, till they threatened to strip away the

very things he held most dear.

The movie grossed over 125 million worldwide and Jamie Foxx won

the Academy Award for Best Actor.

This little known story of Ray Charles' meteoric rise from modestbeginnings, his successful battle to excel in a sighted world and his

eventual defeat of his own personal monsters make for an inspiring

and unforgettable true story of human triumph.

    Hope Is Inspirational

Voted the most inspirational movie by British movie fans in 2006,

Shawshank Redemption is founded on a novel by Stephen King and is

likewise among my favorite movies to view. The movie tells the story

of Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) and Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding

(Morgan Freeman) as 2 convicts who spend nearly twenty years in a

    Maine penitentiary named Shawshank Prison.

Andy is young banker in 1947 who's incorrectly convicted of

murdering his wife and her lover and is sent off to Shawshank to

serve 2 back-to-back life sentences. In the prison house, Andy has a

difficult time adapting and is assaulted by other convicts. He

becomes familiar with Red and his acquaintances and because of his

financial background, starts to offer his tax knowledge and services to

    the guards for free.

Because of his usefulness, the Warden Samuel Norton moves Andy

from manual labor tasks, to an office where he can launder money forNorton by producing a fictional human being named Randel Stevens.

The film outlines Andys determination and integrity as he works to

get a library built within the prison and educate the convicts so that

they can earn their GED. Over the years, he holds hope and finally

gains the respect of his fellow convicts, particularly longtime convict

"Red" Redding, a black marketeer, and becomes influential inside the

    prison.

One night, it was storming. Andy wore Norton's shoes to his cell,

figuring nobody would notice. He packed a few papers and Norton's

clothes into a plastic bag, tied it to himself with some rope, and

escaped through his hole. He got to a sewer main. Utilizing a rock, he

hit it in time with the lightning strikes and in time burst it. He

crawled five hundred yards through raw sewage to a nearby river.

There, he changed into the warden's clothes.

That morning, Andy walked to where he had put Warden Norton's

money. Utilizing his assumed identity he left with a cashier's check.

Before he left, he asked them to drop a parcel in the mail. He collected

over $370,000 from 12 area banks. The parcel contained Warden

Norton's ledgers, and they went right to the Portland Daily Bugle

    newspaper.

Soon, Red got a postcard from Fort Hancock, Texas, with nothing onit. He took it as a sign that Andy arrived in Mexico and was wholly

free. At Red's next parole hearing His parole was granted. One day,

with a compass he bought from the pawn shop, he followed

instructions from Andy, thumbing to Buxton and reaching the stone

wall he described. Just like Andy stated, there was a large black stone.

Under that was a lunch box bearing a big sum of cash and

    instructions to find him.

Red breached parole and left the halfway house. He took a bus to Fort

Hancock, where he cut across into Mexico. The 2 friends finally

reunited on the beach of Zihuatanejo on the Pacific coast.

The Shawshank Redemption got distinguished reviews when it was

released in 1994 but had a mediocre showing at the box office. All the

same, it has enjoyed great success in television showings and in DVD

    sales.

Finally, Andrew achieves his ends on his own terms.

Recognizing Your Fellow Man- Ignoring Prejudice

After Robert Gould Shaw (Matthew Broderick) comes through a

horrifying battle during the Civil War, he's tendered a position to lead

one of the 1st all African American units in the U.S. Army. He accepts

that duty despite his questions that the soldiers have the capability to

become beneficial fighters. Over time, the soldiers which include a

gravedigger named John Rawlins (Morgan Freeman) and a runaway

slave named Trip (Denzel Washington),start to establish they're

worthy of fighting for the Union States. The soldiers are a proud

group of men and really patriotic in spite of the racial discrimination

    they come across.

Initially, members of the Fifty-fourth are used for nothing more than

manual labor until Shaw convinces his commanding officer through

the use of blackmail that they should be changed to a combat

command. When they finally are transferred, they're involved in their

first real battle at James Island, South Carolina on July 16, 1863 to be

followed by the attack on Fort Wagner two days later.

A letter written home from Colonel Robert G. Shaw was a particularly

inspiring moment: Dear Mother, They learn, learn quickly, quicker

than white troops it appears to me. They're almost grave and sedate

under command and they restrain themselves. But the moment

they're dismissed from drill every tongue is relaxed and every ivory

tooth is visible and you wouldn't know from the sound of it that this is

an army camp. They must have acquired this from long hours of non-

meaningful, inhuman work too set them free so fast. It gives them

capital energy. And there's no doubt we'll leave this state as fine a

regiment as any that as marched. As ever, your son, Robert.

The white officers and the black soldiers do have a potently exhibited

bonding moment when the soldiers rip up their paychecks because

they were paid less than what they were promised and likewise less

than the white soldiers. Shaw and his commanding officer rip up

their paychecks likewise in protest of this unfairness.

This movie has a moving closing scene as the soldiers storm an uphill

Confederate fort while being targeted by gun and artillery fire. The

movie had multiple award nominations and won three Oscars.

Denzel took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor award.

In May of 1900, Sergeant William H. Carney became the 1st black toreceive the Congressional Medal of Honor for heroic actions he'd

executed while a member of Company C of the Fifty-fourth

Massachusetts Regiment during the assault on Fort Wagner.

    Helping Others Inspires

Based on the true story of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy who takes in a

homeless adolescent African-American, Michael "Big Mike" Oher.

Michael has no idea who is father is and his mother is a crack head.

Michael has had not much formal education and few skills to help

him study. Leigh Anne soon takes control however, as is her nature,

seeing to it that the young man has every chance to succeed. When he

conveys an interest in football, she goes all out to help him, including

presenting the coach a couple of ideas on how best to utilize Michael's

skills. They not only supply him with a loving home, but hire a tutor

to help him better his grades to the point where he would qualify for

an NCAA Division I athletic scholarship.

Michael Oher said after reading an assignment, Courage is a hard

thing to figure. You are able to have courage based on a dumb idea or

mistake, but you're not supposed to doubt adults, or your coach or

your teacher, because they make the rules. Maybe they know better,

but maybe they don't. It all depends upon who you are, where youcome from. Didn't at least one of the 600 guys think about giving up,

and joining with the other side? I mean, valley of death that's pretty

salty stuff. That's how come courage it's tricky. Should you always do

what other people tell you to do? Sometimes you may not even know

why you're doing something. I mean any fool can have courage. But

honor, that's the real reason for you either do something or you don't.

It's who you are and perhaps who you want to be. If you die trying for

something significant, then you have both honor and courage, and

that's pretty good. I think that's what the writer was saying, that you

should hope for courage and try for honor. And maybe even pray that

the people telling you what to do have some, too. "

    2009 NFL draft.

Blind Side won't go down in the annals as the most distinguished

sports movie ever made but it does have its moments. It's a touching

depiction of what can result when some, give other people, a fighting

    chance.
