Morningstar® EssentialsTM Data License
Morningstar® EssentialsTM enhances your marketing messages with industry-standard statistics recognized by investors and advisors around the globe. This data license allows firms to insert statistics such as the Morningstar RatingTM, Morningstar Style BoxTM, and Morningstar Category into brochures, onto Web sites, in front of commuters—almost anywhere.
An Essentials license puts the power of the Morningstar brand in all of your client communications and brings immediate objectivity and reliability to your education and marketing initiatives. Suggested disclosure language is also provided to help facilitate FINRA review.
Morningstar RatingThe Morningstar Rating is used by millions of investors to make unbiased, initial comparisons. It provides a straightforward assessment of an investment’s past performance—based upon both return and risk—and shows how similar investments stack up against their competitors.
Morningstar Category and RankThe Morningstar Category helps investors accurately evaluate funds against their true peer group. It contains funds with similar investment styles based on the underlying portfolio holdings as measured over the past three years. Category Rank assigns investments within the same Morningstar Category a percentile rank based on total return.
Morningstar Style BoxThe Morningstar Style Box allows for informed comp-arisons and portfolio construction based on the securities within each fund. It’s invaluable to advisors and investors searching for the right fund to fulfill a specific need within an existing portfolio mix. The Style Box Breakdown, which shows the allocation of holdings across the Style Box grid, is also included with an Essentials license.
Morningstar Ownership Zone The Morningstar Ownership Zone provides a more complete picture of how a fund’s holdings are distributed. It is the shaded area of the Style Box, representing at least 75% of the fund’s stock holdings, the center of which indicates the fund’s placement in the Style Box.
Morningstar Risk and ReturnMorningstar’s Risk and Return measures help investors to screen similar investments to identify which may offer the return characteristics they seek within the risk parameters they feel most comfortable with. Morningstar Risk measures the fluctuations in an investment’s monthly returns relative to similar investments. Morningstar Return is an assessment of an investment’s excess return over the risk-free rate, after adjusting for all applicable loads and sales charges, compared to its peers.
