Steven Joshua Wiggins is wanted by the Cheatham County Sheriff’s office and TBI. He is wanted for ag-gravated assault and theft and is a person of interest in the killing of Dickson County Deputy during a traffic stop on May 30. Wiggins is considered armed and dan-gerous. Call 1-800-TBI-FIND if you have any informa-tion or know where he is. A reward has been offered.

Edy Lopez-Hernandez, 27, from Guatemala, is accused of killing a teenage girl in a car accident in Houston on May 27. Henandez had previously been deported from the United States three times. He was under the influence of unspecified narcotics and was driving "at a high rate of speed" when he crashed into the rear of another car killing the teenager who died on impact.

MORE COMMUNITY NEWS YOU CAN USE: The Etowah Library will have its Summer Reading Kickoff next Tuesday, June 5th, at the Etowah Community Center. There will be bounce houses and free refreshments including pizza. You can still register for the summer reading program on that day. The E.G. Fisher Public Library will kick off the summer read-ing program at 10:15 a.m. Monday with “Baby Bookworms,” a program for children from birth to age 2. Parents will learn tips for early literacy while babies learn to interact with each other.

National & World News State & Local News IT’S SOAP BOX DERBY TIME IN ATHENS! The 24th Annual Athens Soap Box Derby will be held Saturday

on Keith Lane. Seventeen racers will compete in the Stock Divi-

sion, 13 will compete in the Super Stock Division, and there are three racers in the Super Kids Division. Winners in each division

will compete at the All American Soap Box Derby world champi-

onships in Akron, Ohio, in July. You can hear the championship

races live throughout the day Saturday on WYXI Radio, FM 94.5,

AM 1390 and ONLINE.

Traffic on Keith Lane will be closed from Prof Powers Lane to

Cedar Springs Road. Crestway Drive will be closed from

McMinn Avenue to Matlock Avenue, and Gideon Street will be

closed from Boaz Street to Keith Lane from 4 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Etowah on Friday, June 1st, from

2:30 to 3 p.m. There will be potatoes, lettuce, onions, cucumbers, kale,

Ivene Benton Buttram, age 99, of Athens, died Sunday at Starr

Regional Medical Center. She worked with Proffitt’s Department

Store for 32 years until her retirement. A memorial service will be

conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5th, at Smith Funeral

Home, with visitation from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Flora C. Ammons, age 88, of Etowah, died Tuesday. A celebra-

tion of life gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Bord-

wine Funeral Home.

Wilma Rose Hawn Freeman, age 62, of Athens, died Wednesday

at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. She was employed by

Advanced Photographic Solutions for 20 years. Funeral services will

be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hilltop Baptist Church with visitation from 1

to 3 p.m. at the church. Ziegler Funeral Home is in charge of ar-

rangements.

THURSDAY’S MARKET REPORT: U.S. stocks closed

down as trade tensions flared with the U.S. set to impose steel and

aluminum tariffs on certain major trading partner nations. The

Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 252 points or 1% to

24,416. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 19 points or

0.7% to 2,705, and the NASDAQ Composite Index was down 20

points or 0.3% to 7,442.
