Sri Shankaramurthy iteratedthat a sitting judge of the SupremeCourt had emphasized on thesame point. He further opined thatsuch an education could beimparted through the BhagavadGita.

Endorsing his views,Sri Shankaramurthy assertedthat the Gita didn’t belong toany one religion. It is a universaltreatise that was meant for theupliftment of the whole humanity.Yet, he regretted that if manygood ideas of this wonderfulbook was used to teach students,it was dubbed as laced with ochrecolour. What sort of state ofaffairs that is prevailing in ourmidst, he bemoaned.

Speaking on the occasion,Dr. Rama Jois ridiculed that whilethe person who is involved inassaulting women is sentenced bylaw, there is no legal relief for the

Br. Sujay jireferred to his most populat‘Movie theatre’ example where

and Upanishad. He said thatUpanishads have guided thenormal life through messagesas we see in Tiatteeryacommandments of Styam vada,Dharmam chara, practice of virtueand long list of values in gratitude, giving back to society, respect forfood, Atithi dharma, etc.

traced the role of women over theages starting from Vedic period. She said that there were noadequate literary references andpre conceived notion existed insome critics. This material for thispaper was from examination ofpristine materials and culled outfrom the vedic and upanishadicliterature whixh helped toreconstruct the position ofwomen in the vedic age.

Dr. Prabhavati observedthat there has been a tremendouschange in the position ofwomen owing to various socialcauses like invasion of barbarians, political upheavels, weakening ofnationalistic outlook, etc.Vedashad assigned a very importantrole to the women in the vedicsociety, not merely a part of thehousehold but as an integral partof the society. In Rigveda we findthe names 27 women scholarsBrahmavadinis of whom feware mythological characters andsome personification of abstractideas. About none to ten womenlike Viswavara, Apala, Ghosha,Lopamudra, Shashwati andRomasha are prominentBrahmavadinis. Maitreyi andGargi are fall in this category ofBrahmavadinis.
