Origin of moon

The Giant Impact Hypothesis , sometimes called Big Splash states Moon was formed out of the debris left over from an indirect collision between Earth and an astronomical object ,the size of the Mars.The colliding body is sometime called Theia.

In Greek Mythology Theia is the daughter of Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Sky).

She is the one who gave birth to the Moon.
