Genre: Structured Reality Series

Title: “Freshers”. The real side of Uni Life.

Logline (short pitch): Imagine if you could see

behind the studying, the graduating and the

lectures, and see what being at University is really

about. Freshers focuses on the lives of 10 young

University starters and the trials and tribulations

they face as they make their way through their

first year. It offers a chance to view first-hand the

fall outs, the make ups and the break ups of real

people in the real world.

Synopsis: “Freshers is the parents dream, or nightmare of seeing what really happens in those Freshers years”

Get sucked into the lives of young people, and feel involved in their relationships and conflicts. See them coming to terms with the demands of uni, and the relationships that come along with it. Watch their relations build, or often crumble as we see into every part of their private life. Go on their dates, stand beside them in their fights and weep when they cry.

“Freshers” follows a group of friends in

Birmingham Uni, providing a fascinating

social discovery that draws the viewer to

bond with all members of the show.

Though not all close friends, all are bonded

in one way or another, and although not

apparent at the start, nothing stays hidden.

As you delve deeper into their lives, the

more audiences relate to the characters,

and as the show is reality, audiences will

connect on a personal level too.

Sample episode arc-

Intro – There is an establishing shot of Birmingham University, and also panning shots of students lounging on the grasses and studying. This will help anchor the show to audiences, that it is focused around University Life. Also by involving establishing shots, it is conventional with other structured reality shows, such as Made in Chelsea.

Scenes – The scenes will show a diversity of characters each with their own problems and conflicts, and in some cases, are resolved and others not.

Initial Highlights of the show – The show will leave you on a cliff hanger, and as an audience you find yourself willing to know what happens next. As the show goes on, you empathize with the main characters and therefore is a much more relatable and enjoyable experience.

Freshers will also include a social website which will help drive audience participation with the following-

Links to social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook where audiences can talk to the cast and producers.

Interviews with the cast

Interviews with audiences voicing their opinion on the show.

Website voting to determine what audiences want to see next.
