Muzika Festa 2017): Sunday, June 4, 2017. Doors Open: 3:15pm Musical Program: 4:00pm Social Hour: 5:30pm Dinner: 6:00pm Kolo Dancing: 7:45-9:00pm. This is one event that you will not to miss this year! Live from Kostanje, Croatia (a little south of Omis and Split), we will host the 12 member Klapa Pasi-ka (male vocal and music ensemble) as our fea-tured performance. Tentatively joining them will be other Croatian musical performers from our local area. More details will be in our May Bul-letin. Tickets are $65.00 per adult for the pro-gram and dinner and $40.00 for the program on-ly. Children 5-13 are $15 for the dinner and $5.00 for the program only. Tables of ten (10) persons are available for groups. Please RSVP to (310) 223-6970 by May 27th so we may plan ac-cordingly. We expect an early sell out, so please make your reservations asap! San Pedro Retired Elks Monthly Luncheon: Due to a lack of attendance, our Club was no longer able to afford hosting the monthly San Pedro Retired Elks luncheon without incurring a substantial loss. While we were able to be hospi-table to this fine group of folks since the San Pedro Elks Lodge fire tragedy a few years ago, we no longer could justify the very large deficit this event was incurring. They will continue to meet at a local restaurant beginning on April 12th. Please call Retired Elks President John Brunac for further details at (310) 831-9991. Monday Night Kolo Dancing: Due to the ma-jority of our kolo dancers having reached the “Golden Years”, quite a few passing away and not many new participants joining them, our Monday night Kolo dancing has sadly been dis-continued at their request. Thursday Night Chess Club: Due to a lack of participation, the Thursday night Chess Club has been discontinued. New Activity Ideas: The Club is always open to new ideas for member activities. If you have an idea for a new Club activity for members and/or members and their families and guests, please call the Club office at (310) 831-2629 or send us an email at: [email protected]. Thank you!

ANNOUNCEMENTS Club Scholarship Applications: Applications for the Club’s prestigious scholarship program are now available. Students graduating from high school to a two or four college, university or trade school qualify for consideration. The student must be a junior or regular member in their own right, a child or grandchild of a regu-lar member in good standing. Applications may be requested via email ([email protected]) or picked up at the Club (Lobby or Patio Room) Monday thru Friday, 10am to 1pm. Ap-plications must be returned to the Club mail-box by Friday, June 30th. New Outdoor and Indoor Ceremonial Flags: The Club remains in need of monetary donations to purchase some new flags for in-door display. We have quite a proud tradition in our Club of veteran members who have served our country in the armed forces. We would like to purchase indoor service branch ceremonial flags for permanent display. We would appreciate monetary donations to pur-chase these ceremonial flags. Full or partial contributions to this cause can either be in memory of a loved one (living or deceased) or by a member who served in a particular service branch. Donors (and/or their loved one) will be listed on a commemorative wall plaque in proximity of the flags. Each armed services flag set costs $200.00. We would like to un-veil our Armed Services flags for Armed Forc-es Day in May. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated to honor our veteran mem-bers. Thank you to the following members for their contributions to our military flag display: Army (full donation) – Councilman Anthony and Chris Misetich in honor of their son Jon-athan who is serving in the United States Ar-my and is the only Club member presently on active duty. Navy (full donations) – Jerry Lovarov and the Svorinich Family in honor of Rudy, Sr. and Anton (Zrini) Svorinich, Stella Rukavina in honor of Anthony Rukavina (partial donation). Marines (full donation) – Nick Biazevich in memory of Pete Zankich. Coast Guard (full donation) by the Svorinich Family in honor of Andrew

Svorinich, Marion A. Rafkin, Dr. Joe Mardesich and Dr. Gerald N. Felando. We remain in need of a donor(s) for the U.S. Mer-chant Marine Flag. The purchase of our out-door American, Croatian and California State flags were made possible by the donations of Past-President Lou Malnar, and brother mem-bers Mario Bijelic and Mike Medak. Our President also donated an outdoor Los Angeles City Flag for Club use at appropriate occasions (such as the Chamber luncheon last month where it looked great!). Thank you all for your generosity. New Club Email Address: To make com-municating with the Club easier, our new email address is: [email protected] Please make a note of it. Thank you. Club No Smoking Policy: Recently, the Board of Directors have received reports of some members and guests smoking within our Patio Room and with 20 feet of entrances. Cal-ifornia State Law strictly prohibits such behav-ior. Club staff has been authorized to rigorous-ly enforce the law with zero tolerance for of-fenders. Members and guests that exhibit poor judgement in regard to smoking within or too near Club buildings will first be asked to cease their activity – and if they refuse, asked to leave the premises. Our Club, as all buildings in our state, are smoke free areas.
