O Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968) O a Baptist minister who became a civil rights activistO led the 'March on Washington' in 1963 where he

gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. O In 1964 he was the recipient of the Nobel Peace

Prize for his work to end racial discrimination and segregation.

O Prior to his death in 1968, King refocused his attention to opposing the Vietnam War and ending poverty.

O King was assassinated on April 4, 1968.
