Neste kurs ble Specialization Program in International Online Education, SPICE 603http://www.nettskolen.com/in_english/spice/hovedside.html

Følgende sitater er hentet fra: “The future of learning:
From eLearning to mLearning” (Keegan, 2002):
“The ability to receive learning anytime, anywhere and on any device” (Thomas Chabra & Jessica Figueiredo Empowering Technologies, Inc., 2001).
“The point at which mobile computing and eLearning intersect to produce an anytime, anywhere learning experience”(Paul Harris: Goin’ Mobile, 2001).
“mLearning – it’s eLearning through mobile computational devices: Palms, Windows CE machines, even your digital cell phone” (Clark Quinn, Director of Cognitive Systems-KnowledgePlanet, 2001).
mLearning is the ability to study anytime, anywhere using a mobile device.

Spørsmålene1. Which technologies (both existent and
non-existent) and / or factors do you think will have the biggest impact on the adaptation of mLearning?
2. Which properties of the mobile device do you think will have the biggest impact on how fast mLearning is adapted?
3. How will mLearning change the work situation of a student?
4. How will mLearning change the work situation of a teacher?

Which technologies (both existent and non-existent) and / or factors do you think will have the biggest impact on the adaptation of mLearning?
1. High bandwidth wireless data transfer 212. Communications cost 193. 3G mobile telephones (devices) and PDA:s
with integrated communication technology. 18
4. Wireless internet access 185. Durable power source 136. Common understanding of learning as a
lifelong continuous activity 117. Access to learning material anytime
anywhere 108. Voice input (converted to text) and
recognition 109. We take technology in use if we think that it
will help us to fulfill these intentions (1- convenience/rationality, 2- expediency and 3- immediacy) 10
10. Content must be in place 9
http://www.nki.no/fj
Which properties of the mobile device do you think will have the biggest impact on how fast mLearning is adapted?
1. Internet access 272. The user friendliness 223. Compatibility PC - PDA 184. PDAs ability to read standard web
pages 155. The connection speed 156. Interactivity 127. The connection cost of mobile
services 128. Wireless connectivity 129. Better screens 910. Screen size 8
mLearning krever mye motivasjon hos studenten

How will mLearning change the work situation of a student?
1. Increased flexibility 312. Learning will take place in other
environments 233. Higher demand on the students and their
motivation 224. More just-in-time learning 185. Students will develop new ways of studying
166. Easier communication with teacher and
fellow students 157. Student’s have to plan their time and take
control over their own learning 148. Studying on the move 149. Learning adapted to users needs 1110. It will make continuous learning come true 9

How will mLearning change the work situation of a teacher?
1. Increased flexibility 292. Classrooms can be extended to the real
world 193. More rapid answers to the students’
questions will be demanded 194. No clear separation of work and value time
185. Traveling teachers may work on the move 146. Teachers will not be able to escape the
students 137. Place will become both more and less
important 128. Teachers need to learn how to make use of
the mobile devices and how to produce content for mLearning and mobile devices 12
9. Focus on one-to-one training 1010. Less time off from work 9
