Gerard Neugent, Doug

Gerard just completed his tenth season with The Rep, his sixth season as a member of the Resident Acting Company,

and is now a Rep Associate Artist. He most recently appeared as Iago in The Rep’s production of Othello, Gerry in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), Michael McCormick in Lombardi, Happy in Death of a Salesman, Clown 2 in The 39 Steps, Stan Laurel in Laurel and Hardy, Lou Max in Seven Keys to Slaughter Peak, Jimmy/Lendall/Randy/Phil/Dave in

Almost, Maine, Johnny in Happy Now? and Hlestakov in The Government Inspector. Previously, he was seen as Simon Panteleyevich Yepikhodov in The Cherry Orchard, Charles Bingley in Pride and Prejudice, Fabrizio in Mirandolina, multiple roles in Greater Tuna, Rogers/Young Pedgift in the world premiere of Armadale, Antony Wilding in Enchanted April, Norman in The Norman Conquests, Rick Steadman in The Nerd, Edgar in King Lear, Ellard in The Foreigner, Young Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Steindorf in Back at Leipzig and Camille in A Flea in Her Ear. Eric Damon Smith, Bud

Eric happily returns to The Rep after serving as an Acting Intern during the 2002/03 Season. A Chicago-based actor and

director, Eric recently spent the early summer performing at Riverside Theatre in the Park, in Iowa City, IA, playing Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice and Oliver in As You Like It. Other recent credits in the Chicago area include Jaques in As You Like It (Muse of Fire), Mosca in Volpone, directed by Sheldon Patinkin (City Lit Theater Company), Jamie in Long Day’s Journey into Night (Polarity Ensemble), and his Jeff Award-nominated turn as Flaminio Scala in the regional premiere of The Glorious Ones (Boho and Theatre on the Lake). Other credits include work with Northlight Theatre and Remy Bumppo. Eric trained at Hofstra University.

Paul Helm, Pianist/Musical Director

Paul is elated to be back at The Rep! Past Rep credits include Always . . . Patsy Cline, Laurel and Hardy,

Guys on Ice, Life Could Be a Dream, Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, The Polish Diva from Milwaukee and Blue Rose: The Rosemary Clooney Story. Paul has also performed, directed and music directed with Skylight Music Theatre, First Stage Children’s Theater, Florentine Opera Company, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, American Folklore Theatre, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse and the UW-Platteville Heartland Festival. Recent credits include Packer Fans from Outer Space, Gershwin and Friends, The Music Man, Seussical, Grease, Ragtime, U: Bug: Me!, Beauty and the Beast, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Elmer Gantry (2012 Grammy Award winner). Upcoming productions include two Milwaukee premieres: Charles Dickens Begrudgingly Performs “A Christmas Carol” Again (Marcus Center)

Scott Brown is a writer, critic and performer. His work has appeared in Wired (for which he is a monthly columnist), Entertainment Weekly, GQ, New York and TIME, among other outlets. He appeared at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre on several occasions. Also with Anthony King, he developed pilots for CBS and A&E. He and Anthony King were both raised in Durham, NC. Scott’s “funny” “songs” sometimes appear suddenly, and without warning, on the Internet, and disappear almost as fast. He’s cool with that.

Anthony King, playwright

Anthony King is writer, director and performer – and the Artistic Director of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in NYC. As an actor, Anthony has been featured on MTV’s Human Giant, Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and in the feature film, Mystery Team. He is also a member of the UCBT Touring Company and tours from time to time with “Horatio Sanz and The Kings of Improv.” Anthony’s regional and NYC directing credits include 1940s Radio Hour, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Mister (starring Anthony Rapp), A Chorus Line and many others. Other notable directing credits: The Patriots (HBO Aspen Comedy Festival), Aziz Ansari Punched A Wall, Who’s Your Daddy? (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), God & Pottery (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, “Best Newcomers”), Listen Kid (NY Music Theatre Festival), and more. He was also the Assistant Director of the Off-Broadway shows Summer of 42 and The Wild Party (Lippa) and is a member of the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab. Anthony has written for GQ, Details and Entertainment Weekly magazines, and he has written for television’s A&E, Comedy Central and CBS/Paramount.

Laura Gordon, Director

Laura first began working at The Rep in 1993. As an actress, she has appeared in over 75 productions,

including Death of a Salesman, The Lady with All the Answers, Pride and Prejudice, Enchanted April, The Crucible, Doubt, The Clean House, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Mary Stuart, Endgame and Copenhagen. As a director, her credits at The Rep include In the Next Room or the vibrator play, Speaking in Tongues, Laurel and Hardy, Almost, Maine, Edward Albee’s Seascape, Half Life and I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda. Elsewhere, she has directed The Royal Family and Old Times (American Players Theatre); The Winter’s Tale (Utah Shakespeare Festival); Well (Milwaukee Chamber Theatre); Skin Tight, Memory House and Full Gallop (Renaissance Theaterworks) and Going to St. Ives (Forward Theatre). She received a Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship in 2010, and is a Milwaukee Rep Associate Artist.

Stephen H. Carmody, Scenic Designer

Scenic design credits include: Around the World in 80 Days and Bad Dates (Fox Valley Rep); Pippin (The Music Theatre Company); The Receptionist (Steep); Changes of Heart (Remy Bumppo); A Twist of Water (Route 66); Becky Shaw (A Red Orchid Theatre); The Shadow of a Gunman (Seanachai Theatre Company); Man from Nebraska (Redtwist) and Nunset Boulevard (Theatre at the Center). Stephen has also assisted on projects on and Off-Broadway, throughout the country and for Disney on Ice. Stephen received The John Murbach Scholarship for Collaborative Design, presented at The 2009 Michael Merritt Awards.

Rachel Laritz, Costume Designer

Rachel is happy to be returning to The Rep after joining them for Song Man Dance Man, Laurel and Hardy, Almost, Maine, Happy Now?, A Year of Magical Thinking, I Just Stopped by to See the Man, Glengarry Glen Ross, Grafton City Blues, Edward Albee’s Seascape, Life Could be a Dream, Frozen, Half Life, Bad Dates, The Clean House, The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? and Two Pianos, Four Hands. Other credits include: Utah Shakespeare Festival, Actors Theatre Louisville, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Pearl Theatre, Court Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Peninsula Players, Remy Bumppo, Timeline, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Renaissance Theaterworks, Skylight Opera Theatre and University of Michigan. Other professional credits include: NBC’S Law & Order. Rachel is a recipient of a 2011 Emerging Artist Award and a 2009 Joseph Jefferson Award.

Charles Cooper, Lighting Designer

Charles Cooper is a Chicago-based lighting designer making his Milwaukee Rep debut. Recent work includes Hairspray and Curtains (Drury Lane Oakbrook); A Wrinkle In Time (First Stage Children’s Theater); Love, Loss, and What I Wore (Asolo Rep Theatre and 1st National Tour); Do the Hustle and Old Glory (Writers’ Theatre); Of Mice and Men and First Look Repertory of New Work (Steppenwolf Theatre Company); Around the World in 80 Days (Indiana Repertory Theatre); Tree and Blue Door (Victory Gardens Theater); Eclipsed and She Stoops to Conquer (Northlight Theatre); Chicago and A Few Good Men (Peninsula Players); Pitmen Painters and To Master the Art (Timeline Theatre; Associate Artist); Welcome to Arroyos and Speech and Debate (American Theater Company) and Pippin (The Music Theatre Company). Current and upcoming work includes Assistant Design for the new musical The Last Smoker in America (Off-Broadway and Westside Upstairs Theatre) and Love Me Some Amnesia (American Blues Theatre). Sarah Hoffmann, Stage Manager

Sarah is so happy to return to the Stackner Cabaret, having enjoyed the spring working on

Always . . . Patsy Cline. She has worked at numerous theaters throughout Wisconsin, including American Players Theatre, Renaissance Theaterworks, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, American Folklore Theatre and First Stage Children’s Theater, where she was the Production Stage Manager for three years. As always, Sarah is continually grateful to be working in the arts.

Jason Simpson, Stage Management Apprentice Jason graduated with a BS in Theater from State University of New York at

Brockport. Last year he was the Stage Management Intern for The Rep and he is thrilled to be returning as the Stage Management Apprentice this year, continuing to be part of this wonderful team. In the past he has worked as a Stage Management Intern for Geva Theater in Rochester, NY and a Stage Manager for Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater, MI. Jason hails from upstate New York, near Rochester where his passion for theater developed. Jason loves living in Milwaukee and experiencing life with his cat, Tony. Jason would like to thank everyone here at The Rep for this amazing opportunity!

Maggie Ellsworth, Assistant Director

Maggie Ellsworth is proud to be a Directing Intern for the 2012/13 Season. She holds a MFA in

Theatre-Directing from Western Illinois University and a BA from Carthage College where she studied Musical Theatre and Political Science. Maggie has directed at Clinton Area Showboat Theatre, WIU, Carthage College, Lake Forest Academy and the Music Institute of Chicago. Some of her favorite credits include directing Rock ‘n’ Roll, God of Carnage and Speed-the-Plow and performing the role of ‘Ivy’ in August: Osage County at WIU, for which she received an Irene Ryan Nomination.
