BSG Meeting Minutes (October 15th, 2014)

Meeting called into order: 8:34 pm

Introductions/Positions: 8:34pm-8:36pm

Break into At-Large/Class Reps

VPs split into four corners

Rankings on the different committees (8:36pm-9:01pm)

Background on committees being ranked:

! Facilities and Sustainability

" Tangible aspects of campus

" Health center, Shuttles for Students, Working with IT to get work orders online

" Newspapers

" Logistics of how to make the campus more sustainable

! Student Affairs

" Involvement by Student Body in the BSG

" Making people see the difference made by the BSG and its functional parts

" Transparency in action for further support from the Student Body

" Making the campus lively

" Encourage Student Body participation in the BSG (Issues and Ideas)

! Student Organizations

" Chartering of groups on campus and clubs

" Looking at proposals and deciding if the interest factor is large enough to charter

a club" Occasional interaction with The Orbit

" Less meetings than most other branches of the BSG

Class of 2018

! No new updates (Will gather complaints)

Class of 2017

! Cider tasting/food fundraiser (Very successful)

Class of 2016

! Chipotle event for Juniors that did not study abroad (Very Successful)

Class of 2015

! Thoughts on budgeting and getting a survey for all senior events

! Large budget events versus more small budget events (surveys)

Inter-House Council

! Houses have funding for events and have been doing well in communication with the

student body

Sports Representative

! Holding out on funding until they begin to show up to meetings

At-Large Representatives

! 52 Harpswell wants a printer within the building (Talk to Bridgett)

Presidential Comments(9:16 pm to 9:24 pm)

! ASAP- Looking for a BSG rep

! Dining Advisory Committee- Very open and receptive to student comments and would

like to communicate with students

! Bowdoin Constitution is on the Bowdoin Website

" Look at by-laws and BSG missions

! Do not miss meetings, mandatory email required if a meeting MUST be missed

" 3 absences a semester AT MOST (BSG will communicate if it is a problem)

! Helped pay for taco truck outside of Ladd for Epicuria

! Look out for class council/BSG get-together (Location-TBD)

! J-Board will be in for next meeting

" Have questioned prepared! Any ideas on interesting people to attend BSG meetings
