Main featuresl ThecompactMINI3featuresthreewatts(3W)producingstellartonesinheritedfromtheVOXValvetronixseries(VT15,VT30,VT50,VT100).

l ThisportableamplifierispoweredbysixAA-sizealka-linebatteriesortheincludedACadapter,enablingyoutoplayanywhere.Duringbatteryoperation,youcanplayforupto10hours.

l Inadditiontofourhigh-quality,all-timefavoriteeffects,theamplifierfeaturesfourdelayandreverbeffectsthatsimulateacousticreverb.Theamplifieralsofeaturesauser-friendlyinterface,enablingyoutoadjustthetoneviaasingleknob.

l TheTAPbuttonenablesyoutoeasilysetthedelaytimeinsyncwiththetempo.

l Thebuilt-intunerfunctionenablesyoutotuneaguitarconnectedtotheINPUTjack.

SetupThissectiondescribesthebasicsetupofyouramplifier.

NOTE: Thismanualalsodescribessafetyprecautionsandfunctions.Besuretoreadtheentiremanual.

1. Turn the MASTER volume on the amp all the waydown.

2. Installbatteriesintheamplifier.Alternatively,youcanconnecttheincludedACadaptertotheDC12Vjackontherearpanel,thenplugtheadapterintoanACoutlet.

3. PlugyourguitarintotheINPUTjackonthetoppanel.IfyoualsoplantouseaCDorMP3player,oramicrophone,connecttheplayertotheAUXINjackorthemicrophonetotheMICINjackonthetoppanel.

4. TurnontheSTANDBYswitch.

5. SlowlyraisetheMASTERvolumetoadesiredlevel.

Installing BatteriesRemovethebatterycompartmentcoverlocatedonthebot-tomoftheunitbypullingtheribbon.InsertsixAA-sizealkalinebatteriesasshowninthefigure.Besuretoobservethecorrectpolarity.

NOTE: Batteriesarenotincluded.Youwillneedtopurchasethemseparately.Neveruseanytypeofbatteryotherthanalkalinebatteries.

NOTE: Besuretoinstallbatteriesinthecorrectorientation.

Replacing the BatteriesIftheindicatorlocatedaboveandtotheleftoftheSTANDBYswitchbecomesdark,replacethebatteries.

NOTE: Ifthebatterylevelbecomeslow,noisemaybegener-ated.

NOTE: DepletedbatteriesmustberemovedfromtheMINI3immediately.Ifyouleavethemin,malfunctionssuchasbatteryleakagemayoccur.Youshouldalsore-movethebatteriesifyouwillnotbeusingtheMINI3foranextendedtime.

6.GAINknobThisknobenablesyoutoadjustthepreampgainfortheselectedampmodel.

7.TONEknobThisknobenablesyoutoadjustthetonalcolor.Thetonewillbechangedautomatically inaccordancewiththeselectedampmodel.

8.MASTERvolumeThisadjuststheoverallvolumeoftheamplifier.

NOTE: TheGAINcontrolalsoaffectstheamountofdis-tortion.Forsomesettings,theremaybevirtuallynodistortion.

EFFECTS sectionHereyoucanadjustsettingsfortheeffects.Fordetailsoneacheffect,referto“Effects”(page12).

9. EFFECTSknobThisknobenablesyoutoselecttheeffecttypeandsettheintensityoftheeffect.Tobypasstheeffects,rotatetheknoballthewaytotheleft.

10.DELAY/REVERBknobThisknobenablesyoutoselectadelay/reverb-typeeffectandsettheintensityoftheeffect.Toapplyaneffect(selectedviathisknob)tothemicro-phoneinput,usetheDLY/REVERBSENDknobtosettheintensityoftheeffect.Toturnoffthedelay/reverbeffectappliedtotheguitarinput,rotatethisknoballthewaytotheleftorsettheknobto theminimumpositionof the"swoosh"of thecorrespondingeffecttype.

11.TAPswitch,LED/TUNERLEDindicatorThisswitchenablesyoutosetthetimeoftheDELAYandREVERBeffects.Tapthisswitchtwicetosetthetime.Thedurationbetweentwotapswillbeusedasthetimevalue.Theindicatorwillflashinsyncwiththetime.

HINT: Tosetthetimetoexactlymatchthetempoofasong,presstheTAPbuttonseveraltimesalongwith the song.

NOTE: Ifyouturnoffthepowertotheunit,thevaluesetbytheTAPbuttonwillberesettoitsinitialvalue.

Toenablethetunerfunction,pressandholddowntheTAPswitchformorethanonesecond.Alleffectswillbebypassed.Whenthetunerfunctionisturnedon,theTUNERLEDindicatorwillindicatethetuningstatus.Formoreinformation,pleasereferto"UsingtheTuner"onpage9.

14.PHONESjackUsethisjackifyou’repluggingdirectlyintoamixer,re-cordingdevice,orifyou’reusingheadphones.Theoutputsignalfromthisjackistakenbeforethepoweramp,andthecharacteroftheguitarampcabinetisappliedtoit.

NOTE:Connectingheadphonestothisjackwillmutethein-ternalspeaker.

Using the TunerTheMINI3'stunerfunctionenablesyoutotuneaguitarconnectedtotheINPUTjack.Thetunerdetectsthepitchoftheinputsound,thenindicatesthedifferencefromthestandardpitchofE.

1. PressandholddowntheTAPswitchformorethanonesecond.Alleffectswillbebypassed,andthetunerfunctionwillturn on.

All effects are bypassed. (No valid signal is being input.)

2. Playtheopen6thstring.

NOTE:Becarefulnottotouchanyotherstrings.

3.TunetheguitarsothatonlythecentergreenLEDindica-torlightsup,asshownontheright.

TIP: TheMINI3recognizespitchEinanyoctave.Thisisusefulifyouwanttotunetoharmonicsortuneothermusical instruments, suchasabassgui-tar.

4.To exit the tuner function,press theTAP switch.Theeffectbypasswillbecanceled.

TIP: Onceyoutunethe6thstringusingthetunerfunc-tion,tunetheotherstringsinreferencetothe6thstring.

AMP modelBTQ CLEANThismodelsthecleanchannelofahigh-qualityampthatwasproducedonlyonspecialorder,andwasknownastheoverdrivespecial.Withabeautifullyroundedlowrange,asharpmidrangeattack,andasweettrebleregister,thisisidealforsinglecoilpickups.

BLACK 2x12Thismodelsablack-faced2x12"comboampthathasbecomeanindispensibleitemforcountryandbluesplayers.Itstightandcleansoundprovidesdeeppiano-likebasstones,andwilldelivertheclassicChicagobluestoneparticularlywhenusedwithsinglecoilpickups.

TWEED 4x10Thismodelsa4x10"comboampfrom1959thatwasoriginal-lydesignedforbassguitar.Itssmoothandcrispoverdrivesoundwillrespondsensitivelytoyourpickingdynamicsandtothevolumeofyourguitar.

AC15Thismodelschannel2oftheVOXAC15(1x12",15W),whichwasmanufacturedin1962andwasabighitforitscompactcabinet,power,andgreattone–alongwiththen-popularBritishbands.

AC30TBThismodelsanAC30ampwiththe“topboost”circuitthatwasincludedasstandardstartingwithunitsproducedin1964.Itdeliversasmoothandrefinedtopend,majesticallydeepoverdrive,andarichandbrilliantcleansound.

UK '70SThismodelsthehightreblechannelofahand-wiredampheadmadeinEnglandduringtheearly60’s.Raisingthevolumeofthis50Woutputampallthewayproducesthecrunchthatwillforeverbethesoundofrock‘n’roll.

UK '80SThismodelsaUK-manufactured100Wsingle-channelheadwithmastervolumemadein1983.TurntheGAINcontrolallthewayuptogetthatthick,snarlinghardrockandheavymetalsoundthatdominatedthe80’s.

US HIGAINThismodelstheoverdrivechannelofasnakeskin-covered100Wampheadmadein1991.Withanopenlow-endandacompressedmid/highrange,itspowerfulandheavysounddeliversaforcefultonethatwillnotbreakdownevenwiththemostextremegainsettings.

LINEThismodelfeaturestwo-bandtonecontrolsthatcreateapurecleantonewithnodistortion.UsetheGAINknobtoadjustthevolumelevelforthelowrange,andtheTONEknobforthehighrange.

EffectsCOMPThismodelsacompressorthatfeaturesaclean,percussive,andmellowsustain.Suitableforpoporfunkrhythms.Usetheknobtoadjusttheamountofsustain.

CHORUSThismodelsastandardanalogchorusthataddsarichspa-ciousnesstothesound.Usetheknobtoadjustthemodulationspeed.

FLANGERThismodelsananalogflangerthatcreatesasoundwithapeculiarswooshingeffectlikeajetengine.Usetheknobtoadjustthemodulationspeed.

TREMOLOThismodels a typical tremolobuilt intoa standardU.S.comboampthatchangesthevolumeupanddowncycli-cally.Usetheknobtoadjustthetremolospeed.

Delay/ReverbANALOGThismodels an analogdelay thatuses a bucket brigadedevice(BBD).Thesoundqualityislowfidelity,butitswarmsoundispopularamongmusicians.Use the knob to adjust the mix amount of the delaysound.UsetheTAPswitchtosetthedelaytime.Thelongestpos-sibledelaytimeis1,486ms.

TAPE ECHOThismodelsapopularanalogtapeecho.Tapeechowasoriginallycreatedbyusingaplaybackhead,andthedelaytimewasadjustedbymodifyingthemotorspeed.TheknobandswitchfunctionalityisthesameasthatfortheANALOGmodel.

SPRINGThismodelsaspringreverbinsideaguitaramp.Use the knob to adjust the mix amount of the reverbsound.UsetheTAPswitchtosetthereverbtime.

ROOMThisisastandardroomreverbthatcontainsalotofinitialreflection.TheknobandswitchfunctionalityarethesameastheSPRINGmodel.

There’s no sound heard from the PHONES jack when you use it.•CheckthatthetoppanelMASTERvolumeisn’tturnedallthewaydown.
