Falcons late touchdown clinches tightbattle against Miners-----------------------------------------

Adelaide,SA- Andrew Mano sent shivers twice through the Adelaide faithful with interceptions and there were other

occasions when his passes had a touch of desperationabout them. But the important thing for the Falcons wasdespite a subpar performance from their Quarterback the

team found other ways to win.

That other way was mainly from former Miner Brynjar Dodds who rushed for a career high 144 yards from 23 attempts.

Dodds was tough and yet he still had enough explosivenessto make his old team pay a full price when in the clear.He also caught the Falcons first touchdown pass when herolled out into the flat and Mano found him wide openafter Ruvell Martin and Zac Mauro had cleared out the manto man coverage.

I was pretty nervous I have to say. I did n ot feel at my best and the performance today was not pretty but we

showed what a great team we are. We stepped up when wehad to in the 4 th Mano said after the game.

Wollongong started out on fire and the opening drive went10 plays for 62 yards with Nesiaisi Bolton running in the

score. But it was Richie Davis to Nathan Jacks that did most of the damage down the right side. But Wollongongnever showed the same dominance again and it was theirinability to get a running game going that kept them off

balance all night.

Adelaide ground out two field goals to get back to within1 point and then Dodds raced in his score just beforehalftime for the lead. A streak of brilliance from RyanFairweather put the Miners back in front when he flewhigh above three defenders to make the catch and scorefrom a 19 yard Davis pass late in the third.

But the Miners fell away and their troubles could besummed up when Davis threw a screen pass to Griffin onlyfor Max Rochow to tackle him in the end zone for aSafety. The following 10 play drive by Adelaide ended

with rookie Tom Pauli crashing over to win the game.
