MINECRAFT DESIGN & BUILD CONTEST Contest Overview Students will recreate a scene from West Virginia History using Minecraft Education Edition. There are 6 categories. Elementary School (PK-5) Individual, Elementary School Team, Middle School (6-8) Individual, Middle School Team, High School (9-12) Individual, and High School Team. Minecraft Education Edition can be downloaded at https://education.minecraft.net/get-started/download/. Students will sign in with their @stu.k12.wv.us email account. Contest Timeline 1. Registration opens on December 18, 2018 2. Registration closes on January 31, 2019 3. Projects are due on March 1, 2019 4. Winners will be notified on March 8, 2019 5. Contest award and celebration event will be held on March 15, 2019 (Details forthcoming) Rules 1. Projects must be created from scratch using Minecraft Education Edition associated with an @stu.k12.wv.us email address. If you do not have access to your @stu.k12.wv.us email address, please speak with your school technology administrator. 2. Students entering a team category may not receive assistance from anyone not on their team. 3. Teams are limited to no more than 4 members. 4. Teams must be made up of members from the same grade band (Elementary, Middle, High). 5. Students entering an individual category may not receive assistance. 6. Students may not enter more than one category (I.E. team and individual). 7. Non-registered submissions will not be judged. 8. Only one submission per entry. 9. Projects must be maintained throughout the competition. Judges may ask finalists to submit more photos or videos for specifics. 10. Submission videos must be uploaded to YouTube, may not exceed 1 minute in length, and must show "Minecraft: Education Edition" in the top left corner. 11. Submission videos must contain a voice over showcasing their project. Voice overs must contain the name, location, and date(s) for the historical event. 12. Each project must cite at least 3 sources that were used for historical reference.
