MEQUON, Wis. — ConcordiaUniversity Wisconsin (CUW) is excited toannounce that Contemporary Americanrock musician Willy Porter will be theheadline act at the Second Annual LakeMoon Festival on Sat., Aug. 8 on CUW’sMequon campus.

Porter is a Mequon native whoreleased his first album Leaving TomahHome in 1988. His popularity rose in1994 with the release of his criticallyacclaimed album Dog-Eared Dreamwhich led to his touring as an opening actfor artists including Tori Amos, Rickie Lee Jones, and the Cranberries.

“We are thrilled to feature Willy Porteras the headlining act for Lake MoonFestival. He is a dazzling guitar playerand singer/songwriter who personifiesthe Lake Moon Festival brand. Known allover the world for his truthful prose andastonishingly layered rhythms, he and hisband will perform songs from his tenthalbum, Human Kindness, as well as hisclassics that have been filling venues fordecades,” said Lisa Liljegren, festivalspokesperson and director of communityand corporate relations at Concordia.

Porter will perform from 8 p.m. to 9:30p.m. as part of the Festival which will take

between moths and butterflies, whatmoths do to foil their predators, and howto attract these natural pollinators. The lat-est news on gypsy moths, moth adapta-tion, and moth communications will alsobe presented.

To attract moths for sampling, thegroup will use a bait station with “mothmush,” a blacklight, and sheeting. Digital

photography will be used as a non-lethalmeans to capture images to document themoths found. Participants will learn how togather and record relevant information forcitizen-science monitoring. Data andimages collected during the program willbe sent for positive identification by thescientists of the Butterfly and MothInformation Network. After verification,the information will be shared on the

Butterflies and Moths of North America(BAMONA) website at www.butter-fliesandmoths.org

The program is recommended foradults and children age 7 and up.

Participants are reminded to “coverup.” Wearing long-sleeved shirts, longpants, and hats and using insect repellantare recommended.
