Grameen Carso, a build, operate and manage (BOM) project of Grameen Trust, was set up in 2009 with the financial support from Fundacion Carlos Slim, A.C. (FCS) and technical assistance from Grameen Trust.

Objectives :

• Help the poor women improve their livelihoods;• Develop a sustainable program for the poor;• Introduce and institutionalize a non- traditional banking system

in urban and rural areas in Oaxaca, Zacatecas, Puebla and Chiapas State of Mexico.

• serve the poor women to support their income generating activities and establish their small business to reduce poverty.

Activities of Grameen Carso

•Grameen Carso provides financial support to the group member to eliminate poverty and create self-employment among themselves. •Grameen Carso is lending the money to the borrowers with lowest interest rate (30% on declining method) compared to the other financial institutions in Mexico. It is the great opportunity for the poor women in Mexico to help them become self-reliant.

Economical and social condition of Mexico

• According to the latest figure of National Council of evaluation of the policy of Social Development sample, 9% of the population are in the condition of extreme poverty.

Operational Procedure of GRAMEEN CARSO.

• Only landless and asset less household women will be eligible to form a group.• Five members from 5 households can be formed one group and several (maximum 8)

groups form one center following terms and conditions of group formation. All group members need to appear in 7 days training program and has to be qualified.

• In group there is one group chairman, one group secretary and remain three group members. In center one center chief and one associate center chief has been selected from group chairman. Duration is one year, after that has to be changed the parson.

• Each group chairman, secretary and members having their specified responsibilities which has to be followed and for promote their life taken 10 decisions.

• Rate of interest is 30% but due to weekly installment amount of interest reduced, for $1000 pesos (Us $77) interest will be $150pesos (US $12).

• Equal payment in 46 weeks for Basic loan (general loan) and Microenterprise loan.• Three loan product has been landing in the project area, Basic (general) loan for one year,

Animal loan (fattening) for five months(20weeks) and Microenterprise loan for one year.

1. Followed and developed all the four principles of Grameen Carso: Discipline, unity, value and hard work in our lives.

2. Prosperity coming to our lives and our families through hard work.

3. Keep the same number of children, we know how to care for children well. Minimize our shipping and healthy living.

4. Provide education pay our children and their education.5. To have more income, work harder, produce more and sell the

surplus.6. Should always be prepared to help each other, if some one is in

trouble all we need help.7. If you come to have a problem of discipline in the center meeting

and we will all help to restore order.8. Do not commit injustice among in we let some one else commit

injustice.9. Keep our children in clean environment around us. We will not

live in a broken home, try to live in functional house.10. Always use clean water if we do not have clean water, we can use

boiling water.

Impact of Grameen Carso• The poor women now have access to credit in an easy way• Grameen Carso has stimulated employment opportunities through

microcredit and small enterprise promotion. Self-employment has been created due to Grameen Carso.

• It has strengthened local capacity to independently manage viable microcredit schemes

• The Project has contributed towards the development of self confidence and employment of the women members

• The poor women now live with dignity and new dreams• Most members now have their own assets• Due to group and center formation, members have built a

community within themselves.• Members who were once employees are now employers.

CONCLUSION Financial position of the Project •According to the calculation of income and expenditure in the branch level, at the end of December 2013 total outstanding of the project is 12.49 Million Dollar, total branches was 24, total active members was 52393, total income was 1155183 Dollar, total expenditure was 399378 Dollar and total benefit was. 755805 Dollar.

Future Plan •We have a plan to open another two branches in this year and two branches in the next year 2015. At that end of this year 2014 total branches will be 28, total active members will be 68700 and loan outstanding will be 15.01 Million Dollar. At the end of 2015 total branches will be 30, total active members will be 71000 and loan outstanding will be 19.11 million Dollar.
