I am a fully qualified NVQ L3 Marine Engineer who is well experienced in the Maritime & Offshore Industry. My role is to go out to various wind farms & conduct statuary inspections on the davit crane, fall arrest systems, anchor points & emergency equipment. During the inspections I would often have to replace worn parts & conduct repairs of damaged equipment.

My role included duties such as the maintenance and service of all machinery and equipment inside & involved with the engine room. - Service of generators on an hourly based schedule- Preventative maintenance on all essential equipment - Repairs on equipment e.g. tuggers, winch hoists, cranes
- Weekly & monthly checks on the sewage treatment plant & watermaker- Keeping the engine room in a clean and safe enviroment to work in- Constantly keeping the rig supplied with the oils required- Assisting the rig mechanic in any major job/large component change out being carried out- Problem solving/Fault finding - Maintenance on thrusters - Hose crimping- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
As safety representative I led by example in following rig & company procedures and any concerns regarding safety or work related issues are directed through myself.

During this period I served 3, 4 month trips at sea during which I would regularly carry out watch keeping duties(whilst at sea) such as: Ensuring all essential pressures & temperatures are at desired level and regulating when necessary. Swapping over of Fuel Oil & Lube Oil Purifiers when dirty & stripping & cleaning of used purifiers ready for re-use. Planned maintenance of various equipment from cleaning the watermaker using chemicals to overhauling a 6 cylinder, 2 stroke main engine.Unplanned maintenance of equipment such as pumps which have failed whilst in use which would need to be overhauled and/or repaired ready for use again.I would also be involved in the routine for starting & stopping of the main engine when coming in & out of port.
