A Call to Service: “Commitment, Self-denial and Sacrifice”

If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23“Will every soul consider the fact that Christian discipleship includes self-denial, self-sacrifice, even to the laying down of life itself, if need be, for the sake of Him who has given His life for the life of the world? {CS 288.3}

Whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disci-ple. Luke 14:33 “It is the will of God that the saints should cut loose from every encumbrance before the time of trouble comes, and make a covenant with God through sacrifice.” {CCh 281}

Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal. 6:9“Those who deny self to do others good, and who devote themselves and all they have to Christ’s service, will realize the happiness which the selfish man seeks for in vain. {CCh 282.3}

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth……but lay up for yourselves treas-ures in heaven. Matt 6:19, 20“Let none withhold their mites, and let those who have much rejoice that they can lay up in heaven a treasure that faileth not. The money that we refuse to invest in the work of the Lord, will perish.” {CCh 281.2}

And he saw....a poor widow casting in...Two mites. And he said…this poorWidow hath cast in more than they…For (they) have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury (need) hath cast in all the living that she had. Luke 21: 2 - 4“There are persons who practice self-denial in order to give means to the cause of God; then let the workers in the cause also practice self-denial…..{Colporteur Evangelism 49.1}
