2NDARY POLYMER(PMMA)
PRIMARY POLYMER
(NR)MG RUBBERGRAFT
How to accomplish grafting process
1. Activating the NR polymer2. Simultaneously graft3. Co-polymerizing the mma monomer4. NR and monomer added as emulsion5. All reactions take place under uniform colloidal
conditions6. Free radical centre in rubber molecules are form
by the addition of cumene hydroperoxides (CHP) which amines presence act as centre for formation of polymer side chains .

4. TROUBLE SHOOTING
• Discoloration problem of MG 30 grade1. add more coagulation acid than 10% strength
overcome:controlled addition sulphric acid ( original colour restored )
2. Higher drying temperature
HOW TO OVERCOME
1. Do not change the source of the latex2. The dry weight should be determined as
accurately as possible3. Weight all the chemicals accurately4. Strict control over the stirrer speed, rpm,
agitation time
GENERAL PROPERTIES OF MG RUBBER
• Reflecting the properties of both NR and plastic component
1.As a solid polymer• used as self-reinforcing or reinforcing agent for
addition to normal rubber, compatible in all properties.
2.As an adhesive• MG solution and MG latex used to bond natural or
synthetic rubber to PVC, synthetic fibre, leather and other rubbers.
