Metaphysical Poetry? Metaphysical poetry (1600’s) are lyric poems

that are centered on analyzing ‘the big picture’ of concepts such as God, love; sensual & emotional, politics, science, etc. Metaphysical poets show of their brilliant wit through the use of irony, their distinctive wordplay, simple diction, imagery, & metaphysical conceits.
