A deal with Langley-based newmarkGroup, first started in October of 2014,has finally been closed. Sagebrush Golf& Sporting Club did not open for the2015 season while its owners attemptedto sell it, and the new owners will reopenin 2016.

The new owners say they have plansto build a 32,000-square-foot clubhouse,and hopes to develop resort-style homeson the property, overlooking nicola Lake.They are also expected to attempt to in-crease public play at the course, whichhad attempted unsuccessfully to marketitself as a high-end private course.

This past weekend, BC Hydrobrought online the completed $65 millionupgrade to Merritt’s transmission net-work — $5 million under budget. Theproject consists of a new substation, up-grades to the existing substation and anew transmission line.

Construction began in 2013. BCHydro built a new 35-kilometre, 138-kilo-volt transmission line to replace an exist-ing 69-kilovolt line. The new line runsbetween the existing Highland substa-tion and a new Merritt Substation SpringBank Avenue, at the site of the existing,lower-capacity substation.

rCMP responded to 50 calls for service.A break-in at the storage unit on Lind-

ley Creek road was reported Saturdaymorning, with a power drill being stolenfrom one of the stored vehicles. nothingelse was known to be missing at the time.

Also on nov. 7, a report of a theft froma vehicle on Coldwater Ave. was re-ported: a stereo & equipment was stolenfrom a vehicle parked outside the home.

At 0148 hrs on november 9, rCMP re-sponded to a call of a suspicious vehicleparked in the Irvine/Forksdale area. Theplates were inactive and believed to befrom Kamloops. Tools commonly used forbreak & enters were found in the vehicleand seized, and the vehicle was towed.The complainant gave a description of amale and female seen leaving the vehicleand crossing through his yard prior to po-lice arrival. This file is still under investi-gation and anyone with any informationon this or any other crime is asked to callthe Merritt rCMP or Crime Stoppers.
