We actively want to make a difference. Since 2007, we have partnered with the World Health Organization (WHO) to help eliminate the neglected tropical disease schistosomiasis, a disease that affects nearly 250 million people and takes an estimated 200,000 lives every year. By producing and donating Praziquantel tablets we are tackling the disease head on.

We consider our impact on the world when developing products. Our life science business aims to minimize its customers’ environmental impacts as well as its own, reducing the consumption of raw materials, energy and water as well as emissions and waste. Similarly, our liquid crystals for UB-FFS technology make high contrast displays possible but consume little energy.

We believe that culture inspires people, opening minds to new possibilities and fueling creativity. The Philharmonie Merck is our musical ambassador. Similarly, education inspires culture and we are involved in diverse initiatives around the world such as the sponsorship of literature awards in Germany, Italy, India and Japan.
