• A system of Government Controlled by Trade.
• This is not a system of free trade.

How Does Mercantilism Work?
• The Mother country ( England) required the
Colonies to send them raw materials.
• Mercantilist taught that the Colonists should

trade directly with other countries.
• Colonies began trading with whomever they
