Colorado 4-H Horse Show Rule Book Cover Art ContestPlease submit your 4-H Horse related drawings or sketches via email no later thanJune 1 2020 Make sure that your image can be printed in black and white should it be selectedas the winner The winning artwork will be placed on the cover of the updated edition of theColorado State 4-H Horse Show Rule Book The winner will also receive a $15000 Scholarshipto be used towards registration fees for one of the following State 4-H Horse Show State 4-HConference 4-H Leadership Development Conference Colorado 4-H Leadership Camp or 4-HYouth Fest The $15000 prize must be used by the winner within 12 months of notification andwill be paid directly to any of the above listed events The $15000 Scholarship prize is non-transferable No money will be issued to the contest winner directly Please make sure thatentries are 4-H appropriate

Required Dog Vaccinations

Proof of Rabies vaccination is required for all dogs participating in any of the County 4-H DogWorkshops and the Larimer County FairDogs will not be allowed to participate in County 4-H Dog Workshops the Larimer County Fairor the Colorado State Fair without proof of current Rabies vaccination No exceptions

Proof of Parvovirus vaccine is also required for the Larimer County Fair and Colorado State Fairso please plan aheadYou can bring proof of Rabies vaccination to the Dog Orientation your first workshop or scan thecertificate and email to the office dkernlarimerorg

Instructions for Horse Levels Testing during COVID-19As we make adjustments to the 4-H Program during this difficult time we will be offering onlinewritten tests and video riding testing for the Horse Levels Advancement Program

Written Tests will be offered through QualtricsPlease study before requesting a written test The study guides posted online will help youprepare for the test httpco4hcolostateeduprogram-areashorse-resourceslevels-testing

To request a written test please contact Diane at dkernlarimerorg Specify which written levelyou would like to test

You will see your 4-H Horse level test results upon completion You may take the test multipletimes to achieve a score of 80 or higher Please plan to complete your written test within a fewdays

Riding Tests will be done by recorded video

Riding test requirements are listed on the website under Horse Levels Testing

For the questions on Levels III and IV please record the question and then your answer to eachof the questions

After you have practiced and then recorded all of the questions amp answers and all of themaneuvers on the riding test please upload your test as an Unlisted video to YouTube

After uploading your video copy the URL and send it in an email to Diane at dkernlarimerorg Please include your name and level you are testing

Remember a score of 80 is needed to pass which means you must receive an 8 or above oneach maneuver on the test You will be contacted with your results

The deadline to test up for any Fair activities is June 30

State Fair Nominations

The Colorado State Fair Nomination process has been altered this year due to face-to-facecancellations of many events across the state If you plan to nominate an animal for State Fairplease complete the following steps

1 We have sent out all requested nomination forms via mail Please read the specificinstructions accompanying the form and return that nomination form back to us as thisform requires the county agents signature All nomination forms are due into our officeby May 22 2020

2 If your animal has not been retinal scanned the State Fair will instead be collectingDNA samples to serve as identification Please read the 2020 DNA ValidationProcedures and Guidelines sent via email carefully and follow thedirections The EXHIBITOR will be responsible for applying for the DNA envelopecollecting the hair sample and submitting the sample to the State Fair by the specifieddate - July 1 postmark date Envelopes will be available for ordering online by June1

3 If county tags have not been issued for your specie yet we WILL NOT be issuingthem Therefore please note what the State Fair will be accepting in lieu of the county tagfor your specific specie The State Fair will accept tattoos for beef scrapies tags forgoats and lambs and ear notches for hogs

If you have already completed some of these steps you do not have to redo them but please besure to complete ALL steps if you plan to show at the Colorado State Fair this year

Beef members - if the animal you intend to nominate was at the Beef Weigh Day you WILLNOT need to submit DNA for those animals as retinal images were collected at that event

Premises IDSame as 2019 All MARKET Beef Sheep Swine Goat Rabbit and Poultry youth are required tohave a valid Premises ID prior to the fair entry date in order to show at the 2020 Larimer CountyFair This does NOT apply to breeding animals Market Rabbits and Poultry refer to all meatpens exhibits There will be a place on the Larimer County Fair 4-H Entry Form to put yourPremises ID number Did you show a market animal at the 2019 Larimer County Fair If so youobtained a Premises ID and entered your number on the 2019 Fair Entry Form This means thatyou already have a Premises ID number and do not need to reapply for one If you donrsquotremember your number you can call the number below and they can provide it to you If you didnot show a market animal last year you will need to obtain a Premises ID

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease VirusThe Colorado Department of Agriculture is requiring mandatory reporting of suspectedoccurrences of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV2) in wild or domestic rabbits to the StateVeterinarian

Shooting Sports PolicyFor 2020 only the following policy has been altered to a minimum requirement of (3)county practices for each discipline This is due to face-to-face cancellations and thereduction of practice opportunities

Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports has established the following uniform required practicespolicy All participants must attend a minimum of four (4) county practices for each discipline inwhich they wish to participate in the County Shoot If the youth is participating in 22 rifle and airrifle the youth must attend two practices in each rather than four in each The informationorientation andor safety meetings will be required but do not count as a practice Two clubpractices conducted by a state certified leader in the discipline will count if the followingconditions are met List of planned Club practices must be sent to the Extension Office by April1 A list of additional practices should be submitted one week prior to the time the practice isheld Other 4-H members who call may participate in the practice provided the range willaccommodate increased numbers The attendance list must be signed by the certified 4-HShooting Sports Leader and sent to the 4-H Extension Agent within a week for the practice tocount

Shooting Sports Safety Orientation If you have not attended a shooting sports orientation this year you will need to take thesafety portion of that orientation online To do so follow this link watch the video and fill out theform so that we know you have seen this information This is required forall shooting sports members to go through EACH year However if you already attendeda shooting sports orientation in 2020 you do not need to fill out this form

Hunters Education CourseColorado Parks amp Wildlife has temporarily waived the in-person class requirement for HunterEducation courses for anyone 11-years-old and older This ends on July 31 2020

If you completed the online hunter-edcom course after January 1 but before April 8 2020you can visit hunter-edcom and re-print your certificate which will now include your officialhunter ed number Then reach out to Colorado Parks amp Wildlife and they will mail yourpermanent hunter education card directly to youIf you complete the hunter-edcom online course after April 8 2020 you will automaticallyreceive your permanent hunter education card in the mail

Take note this only applies to those 11-years-old and older Any kids 10-years-old and youngermust still complete the in-person portion of the course

We will still be offering the hunter education completion course on June 20ndash21 for the 4-Hmembers 8ndash10 years old This is a great time to get your Hunter Education done

Instructions for Horse Levels Testing during COVID-19As we make adjustments to the 4-H Program during this difficult time we will be offering onlinewritten tests and video riding testing for the Horse Levels Advancement Program

Written Tests will be offered through QualtricsPlease study before requesting a written test The study guides posted online will help youprepare for the test httpco4hcolostateeduprogram-areashorse-resourceslevels-testing

You will see your 4-H Horse level test results upon completion You may take the test multipletimes to achieve a score of 80 or higher Please plan to complete your written test within a fewdays

State Fair Nominations

The Colorado State Fair Nomination process has been altered this year due to face-to-facecancellations of many events across the state If you plan to nominate an animal for State Fairplease complete the following steps

1 We have sent out all requested nomination forms via mail Please read the specificinstructions accompanying the form and return that nomination form back to us as thisform requires the county agents signature All nomination forms are due into our officeby May 22 2020

2 If your animal has not been retinal scanned the State Fair will instead be collectingDNA samples to serve as identification Please read the 2020 DNA ValidationProcedures and Guidelines sent via email carefully and follow thedirections The EXHIBITOR will be responsible for applying for the DNA envelopecollecting the hair sample and submitting the sample to the State Fair by the specifieddate - July 1 postmark date Envelopes will be available for ordering online by June1

3 If county tags have not been issued for your specie yet we WILL NOT be issuingthem Therefore please note what the State Fair will be accepting in lieu of the county tagfor your specific specie The State Fair will accept tattoos for beef scrapies tags forgoats and lambs and ear notches for hogs

If you have already completed some of these steps you do not have to redo them but please besure to complete ALL steps if you plan to show at the Colorado State Fair this year

Beef members - if the animal you intend to nominate was at the Beef Weigh Day you WILLNOT need to submit DNA for those animals as retinal images were collected at that event

Shooting Sports PolicyFor 2020 only the following policy has been altered to a minimum requirement of (3)county practices for each discipline This is due to face-to-face cancellations and thereduction of practice opportunities

Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports has established the following uniform required practicespolicy All participants must attend a minimum of four (4) county practices for each discipline inwhich they wish to participate in the County Shoot If the youth is participating in 22 rifle and airrifle the youth must attend two practices in each rather than four in each The informationorientation andor safety meetings will be required but do not count as a practice Two clubpractices conducted by a state certified leader in the discipline will count if the followingconditions are met List of planned Club practices must be sent to the Extension Office by April1 A list of additional practices should be submitted one week prior to the time the practice isheld Other 4-H members who call may participate in the practice provided the range willaccommodate increased numbers The attendance list must be signed by the certified 4-HShooting Sports Leader and sent to the 4-H Extension Agent within a week for the practice tocount

Hunters Education CourseColorado Parks amp Wildlife has temporarily waived the in-person class requirement for HunterEducation courses for anyone 11-years-old and older This ends on July 31 2020

If you completed the online hunter-edcom course after January 1 but before April 8 2020you can visit hunter-edcom and re-print your certificate which will now include your officialhunter ed number Then reach out to Colorado Parks amp Wildlife and they will mail yourpermanent hunter education card directly to youIf you complete the hunter-edcom online course after April 8 2020 you will automaticallyreceive your permanent hunter education card in the mail

Take note this only applies to those 11-years-old and older Any kids 10-years-old and youngermust still complete the in-person portion of the course

We will still be offering the hunter education completion course on June 20ndash21 for the 4-Hmembers 8ndash10 years old This is a great time to get your Hunter Education done

Required Dog Vaccinations

Proof of Rabies vaccination is required for all dogs participating in any of the County 4-H DogWorkshops and the Larimer County FairDogs will not be allowed to participate in County 4-H Dog Workshops the Larimer County Fairor the Colorado State Fair without proof of current Rabies vaccination No exceptions

Proof of Parvovirus vaccine is also required for the Larimer County Fair and Colorado State Fairso please plan aheadYou can bring proof of Rabies vaccination to the Dog Orientation your first workshop or scan thecertificate and email to the office dkernlarimerorg

Instructions for Horse Levels Testing during COVID-19As we make adjustments to the 4-H Program during this difficult time we will be offering onlinewritten tests and video riding testing for the Horse Levels Advancement Program

Written Tests will be offered through QualtricsPlease study before requesting a written test The study guides posted online will help youprepare for the test httpco4hcolostateeduprogram-areashorse-resourceslevels-testing

To request a written test please contact Diane at dkernlarimerorg Specify which written levelyou would like to test

You will see your 4-H Horse level test results upon completion You may take the test multipletimes to achieve a score of 80 or higher Please plan to complete your written test within a fewdays

State Fair Nominations

The Colorado State Fair Nomination process has been altered this year due to face-to-facecancellations of many events across the state If you plan to nominate an animal for State Fairplease complete the following steps

1 We have sent out all requested nomination forms via mail Please read the specificinstructions accompanying the form and return that nomination form back to us as thisform requires the county agents signature All nomination forms are due into our officeby May 22 2020

2 If your animal has not been retinal scanned the State Fair will instead be collectingDNA samples to serve as identification Please read the 2020 DNA ValidationProcedures and Guidelines sent via email carefully and follow thedirections The EXHIBITOR will be responsible for applying for the DNA envelopecollecting the hair sample and submitting the sample to the State Fair by the specifieddate - July 1 postmark date Envelopes will be available for ordering online by June1

3 If county tags have not been issued for your specie yet we WILL NOT be issuingthem Therefore please note what the State Fair will be accepting in lieu of the county tagfor your specific specie The State Fair will accept tattoos for beef scrapies tags forgoats and lambs and ear notches for hogs

If you have already completed some of these steps you do not have to redo them but please besure to complete ALL steps if you plan to show at the Colorado State Fair this year

Beef members - if the animal you intend to nominate was at the Beef Weigh Day you WILLNOT need to submit DNA for those animals as retinal images were collected at that event

Premises IDSame as 2019 All MARKET Beef Sheep Swine Goat Rabbit and Poultry youth are required tohave a valid Premises ID prior to the fair entry date in order to show at the 2020 Larimer CountyFair This does NOT apply to breeding animals Market Rabbits and Poultry refer to all meatpens exhibits There will be a place on the Larimer County Fair 4-H Entry Form to put yourPremises ID number Did you show a market animal at the 2019 Larimer County Fair If so youobtained a Premises ID and entered your number on the 2019 Fair Entry Form This means thatyou already have a Premises ID number and do not need to reapply for one If you donrsquotremember your number you can call the number below and they can provide it to you If you didnot show a market animal last year you will need to obtain a Premises ID

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease VirusThe Colorado Department of Agriculture is requiring mandatory reporting of suspectedoccurrences of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV2) in wild or domestic rabbits to the StateVeterinarian

Shooting Sports PolicyFor 2020 only the following policy has been altered to a minimum requirement of (3)county practices for each discipline This is due to face-to-face cancellations and thereduction of practice opportunities

Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports has established the following uniform required practicespolicy All participants must attend a minimum of four (4) county practices for each discipline inwhich they wish to participate in the County Shoot If the youth is participating in 22 rifle and airrifle the youth must attend two practices in each rather than four in each The informationorientation andor safety meetings will be required but do not count as a practice Two clubpractices conducted by a state certified leader in the discipline will count if the followingconditions are met List of planned Club practices must be sent to the Extension Office by April1 A list of additional practices should be submitted one week prior to the time the practice isheld Other 4-H members who call may participate in the practice provided the range willaccommodate increased numbers The attendance list must be signed by the certified 4-HShooting Sports Leader and sent to the 4-H Extension Agent within a week for the practice tocount

Shooting Sports Safety Orientation If you have not attended a shooting sports orientation this year you will need to take thesafety portion of that orientation online To do so follow this link watch the video and fill out theform so that we know you have seen this information This is required forall shooting sports members to go through EACH year However if you already attendeda shooting sports orientation in 2020 you do not need to fill out this form

Hunters Education CourseColorado Parks amp Wildlife has temporarily waived the in-person class requirement for HunterEducation courses for anyone 11-years-old and older This ends on July 31 2020

If you completed the online hunter-edcom course after January 1 but before April 8 2020you can visit hunter-edcom and re-print your certificate which will now include your officialhunter ed number Then reach out to Colorado Parks amp Wildlife and they will mail yourpermanent hunter education card directly to youIf you complete the hunter-edcom online course after April 8 2020 you will automaticallyreceive your permanent hunter education card in the mail

Take note this only applies to those 11-years-old and older Any kids 10-years-old and youngermust still complete the in-person portion of the course

We will still be offering the hunter education completion course on June 20ndash21 for the 4-Hmembers 8ndash10 years old This is a great time to get your Hunter Education done

Shooting Sports PolicyFor 2020 only the following policy has been altered to a minimum requirement of (3)county practices for each discipline This is due to face-to-face cancellations and thereduction of practice opportunities

Larimer County 4-H Shooting Sports has established the following uniform required practicespolicy All participants must attend a minimum of four (4) county practices for each discipline inwhich they wish to participate in the County Shoot If the youth is participating in 22 rifle and airrifle the youth must attend two practices in each rather than four in each The informationorientation andor safety meetings will be required but do not count as a practice Two clubpractices conducted by a state certified leader in the discipline will count if the followingconditions are met List of planned Club practices must be sent to the Extension Office by April1 A list of additional practices should be submitted one week prior to the time the practice isheld Other 4-H members who call may participate in the practice provided the range willaccommodate increased numbers The attendance list must be signed by the certified 4-HShooting Sports Leader and sent to the 4-H Extension Agent within a week for the practice tocount

Shooting Sports Safety Orientation If you have not attended a shooting sports orientation this year you will need to take thesafety portion of that orientation online To do so follow this link watch the video and fill out theform so that we know you have seen this information This is required forall shooting sports members to go through EACH year However if you already attendeda shooting sports orientation in 2020 you do not need to fill out this form

Hunters Education CourseColorado Parks amp Wildlife has temporarily waived the in-person class requirement for HunterEducation courses for anyone 11-years-old and older This ends on July 31 2020

If you completed the online hunter-edcom course after January 1 but before April 8 2020you can visit hunter-edcom and re-print your certificate which will now include your officialhunter ed number Then reach out to Colorado Parks amp Wildlife and they will mail yourpermanent hunter education card directly to youIf you complete the hunter-edcom online course after April 8 2020 you will automaticallyreceive your permanent hunter education card in the mail

Take note this only applies to those 11-years-old and older Any kids 10-years-old and youngermust still complete the in-person portion of the course

We will still be offering the hunter education completion course on June 20ndash21 for the 4-Hmembers 8ndash10 years old This is a great time to get your Hunter Education done

The Colorado State Fair Nomination process has been altered this year due to face-to-facecancellations of many events across the state If you plan to nominate an animal for State Fairplease complete the following steps

1 We have sent out all requested nomination forms via mail Please read the specificinstructions accompanying the form and return that nomination form back to us as thisform requires the county agents signature All nomination forms are due into our officeby May 22 2020
