She manages some projects and initiatives …from her cube

Her day is busy with meetings, conference calls and project tasks

One day Rebecca was asked to help a DAU initiative moveforward …

What was it?

“Create a mobile strategy for DAU”

Rebecca asked around …

People were already doing mobile “stuff” on their own

She gathered them together

…to share their ideas, strategies and experiments.

She asked a team member about social media - he was a “social media guru”

He set up an online space for the new mobile working group

People started sharing their thoughts and experiments in that space (SocialText)

…another team member decided to create a logo for the effort.

Others started joining the conversation…

…based upon personal interest in mobile

…and the experiments began

An experiment: A few team members created a

mobile solution for a Blackberry

They posted their experiment

on SocialText

Team members saw the link and tried it out

Result:It worked on

their phones too!

They posted their comments in the team space on SocialText …including what didn’t work.

Rebecca realized that the team was gaining lessons learned by….Sharing Collaborating Experimenting …in person and in SocialText

She worried less about accomplishing the task because of all the talented people involved

…they were motivated to share, collaborate and experiment

Results?

…the team continues to grow

…experiments turn into actual new products available to the acquisition

workforce

….people are excited to share what they are working on

…other DAU faculty and staff want to join in and share their experiments

…undiscovered talents and capabilities revealed through collaboration

Rebecca is seeing great results on the mobile project…so, she is using it for other projects

…and now others are to!
