Instructor Whitney Valentine Ms. Whitney is the Education Coordinator at the SCA and will also have the pleasure of teaching a handful of camps! Whitney was a Saugatuck graduate and studied Art Education at Kendall College of Art & Design. When Ms. Whitney isn’t at the Art Center she’s making what she likes to call “creative messes,” goofing around with her favorite boys, enjoying the colorful wonders of the West Michigan lakeshore. She also likes high-fives, ooey-gooey grill cheeses and sappy romantic movies. I am thrilled and admittedly… totally geeked about summer at the Art Center! Together I hope to provoke fresh ideas in inspiring environments; where creativity, imagination and the wonder of learning can thrive. Let the fun begin!” Instructor Brittany Boverhof Ms. Brittany is the high school art teacher at NorthPointe Christian located in Grand Rapids. She studied Art Education at Kendall College of Art and Design. This is Brittany’s third summer teaching at the SCA! Ms. Brittany married her high school sweet heart, Brent, and the pair lives in Caledonia. When she isn’t teaching, she enjoys running, watersports, art (of course!), making jewelry and hanging out with her puppy. Ms. Brittany’s medium of choice is currently painting, however she tends to have about 3 projects of different media going at the same time! “I look forward to an exciting summer of creative exploration and learning!” MEET OUR SUMMER TEACHINGTEAM!

Instructor Audrey Simpkins Ms. Audrey is a senior at Michigan State University, studying Art Education. Audrey grew up in Holland, MI and graduated from Holland High School. Her childhood has made the lakeshore a special place and one of her greatest sources of inspiration! She is also working this summer at Good Goods Gallery. Looking forward, Audrey will be teaching classes at MSU's SMart program this fall through spring, and will graduate in May 2015. While Audrey finds joy and expression through multiple mediums of art, she is specializing in painting. “I am thrilled to be instructing classes at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts this summer, to not only teach, but be taught by my students and co-workers.”

Instructor Megan Alteri

Ms. Megan graduated from Hope College in 2013 with a degree in Art Education. She played soccer for Hope and now is enjoying coaching soccer for Husdonville High School. She is originally from Bay Village, Ohio. When she’s not in the classroom, Megan loves spending time with her awesome family and friends, hanging outside, exercising, and of course making art! Sculpture is her favorite medium, but she also enjoys ceramics and film photography. “I'm excited to see what masterpieces are created at the SCA workshops this summer!”

Instructor Michelle Voss

Ms. Michelle has had the pleasure of growing up in the Saugatuck area whose rich and diverse culture has fueled her passion for creating in the arts. She is a recent Kendall College of Art and Design Graduate with a BFA in Art Education. When Ms. Michelle isn’t teaching she loves to spend time at the beach with her dog and family; or she can be found with her nose in a book!

“I am excited to combine both my love of art and working with children together and I look forward to developing and encouraging the students art work in the summer workshop program!”
