Meditation Technique 1

Sit with spine straight, relaxed, eyes closed, gaze at the point between the eyebrow. Follow natural flow of breath. On the out breath inwardly chant “om” on that out-breath without altering the natural flow of that breath. Electroencephalograph (brainwave imaging) studies have demonstrated that silent repetition of Om causes brain waves to become very relaxed and to smooth out while increasing mental clarity.

Step 1: Relax, with head, neck and spine reasonably aligned, then close your eyes, let your awareness go inward, And keep your physical eyes lifted comfortably up to focus on the point between you eyebrows (Third Eye). Step 2: Observe your breathing – don’t time or control it, just let it go in and out on its own. Step 3: For the length of the out-breath only, mentally say to yourself the sound “OM”. Step 4: In all likelihood, you are going to drift off into a thought or a daydream while you’re practicing the method – As soon as that happens, let go of what you’re thinking and come back to the method: OM on the out-breath.
